Everybody always comments on “We’ve had enough Bushes.” But this time listening, I realized with George’s wife and daughters sitting there, Barbara said :”He’s by far the most qualified.” And I don’t think she meant the entire field, but the most qualified Bush.

Wonder if they will blame the Berniebros :???:

“Lebanon — With just days before the New Hampshire primary, the presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., is taking heat from Upper Valley residents who say his campaign used their images on mailers without their permission. When American Legion state officer Tom Wiley, of Canaan, was called by the Legion’s top officer in New Hampshire, Wiley didn’t know what it was about, but he said the tone of state Cmdr. John Graham made it clear something was wrong. “He called me, quite straightforwardly, and asked me, had I endorsed any candidate,” Wiley said Saturday. “He asked specifically about Bernie.” It was a sensitive subject, Wiley knew, both because the American Legion fiercely protects its image as a nonpartisan organization, and because Wiley is in the early stages of a campaign himself, for the post of New Hampshire’s Department Commander. If he were found to be guilty of flouting the group’s bylaws, it could sink his chances. “I said, ‘No, I’ve never even shook his hand,” said Wiley.

Wiley learned Graham had fielded a call from a Legion member in Plaistow, N.H., and that Wiley’s image was prominently included on the front page of a glossy campaign mailer, next to the words “Veterans fought for us. Bernie fought for them.” Worse, in the photo Wiley is wearing a white American Legion hat, which identifies him as an officer of the organization’s New Hampshire Department (each state’s posts fall under a single Department). “I said, ‘oh my God,’ ” said Wiley. “I went out to the mailbox that day, and my flier was in there. It was addressed to my wife, not to me.” The flier also includes photographs of Lebanon Post 22 Cmdr. Robert St. Pierre, Laura Holland, the Auxiliary president, and Hannah Griswold, the past junior Auxiliary president, who were identified by Wiley. The Legion’s national offices in Indianapolis quickly turned up a second Sanders campaign flier featuring Holland’s image….continued”

If I remember correctly, Obama for America (OFA) had a lot of training for its campaign workers. Is this part of Bernie’s campaign problems…lack of training?

      • February 7, 2025 at 7:05 pm

His staff certainly seems to making many of these mistakes. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing.

        • 34 swbluega
          February 7, 2025 at 7:32 pm

Either they don’t know what they’re doing, or they have the attitude of doing first; asking forgiveness later.

If they continue with the “mistakes” it’ll start seeming like it’s the latter.

And it will blow back on them. It seems like a stupid policy for a national campaign. It makes me think of the GOP candidates who use music without permission. It just looks like they don’t care enough to respect the rights of the musicians or organizations.

“A few minutes after the Carolina Panthers punched their ticket to Super Bowl 50 with a blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals, reporters asked stud linebacker Thomas Davis how his arm was feeling. “Yeah, it’s broken,” he replied. He’d run into Arizona tight end Daniel Fells, who jumped and kneed Davis in the right forearm. “It hurt,” he said, laughing, “that’s all I can tell you.” That was two weeks ago. The Panthers need Davis in the Super Bowl—though he’s in his 11th season, he’s having perhaps his best year yet, and is an anchor in the team’s stout defense. He wants to play, too, injuries be damned. The day after the game, a surgeon installed a 5.5-inch plate and a dozen screws in his arm. In theory, the surgery would allow him to play long before the bone healed—though it’s still supposed to set you back for six weeks, according to one expert in the field. Best case scenario, it might hurt like crazy, but he might be able to play. Or a lot of things could go wrong. “Since the bone’s not completely healed, it’s a risk of breaking the hardware,” said Ned Amendola, an orthopedic surgeon at Duke. Davis could do something to the surgical incision. Or who knows what else? Desperate to play, Davis and the Panthers started exploring their options. On the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 27, they called Whiteclouds, a 3-D printing outfit in Utah. “Someone knew someone who knew us,” says company CEO Jerry Ropelato, as if he’s still unsure exactly how it happened. The Panthers had two questions: Can you make Davis a brace he can wear during the game? And can you do it, like, yesterday?…..

….The brace runs almost the length of Davis’ formidable forearm, and took a full 30 hours to print. They shipped it to Davis last Friday night. By Monday, at the media day ahead of the Super Bowl, Davis had already tried it out. “It was a light day” of practice, he told reporters, “but I took every opportunity to hit it on something.” The Panthers released a picture of Davis clubbing a tackling dummy with his left arm, the brace wrapped in black tape on his right. Ropelato says he’s heard stories about Davis “going around the room and hitting the tables as hard as he could” after he tried it for the first time, “seeing what it feels like.” Davis had a handful of different off-the-shelf braces to try out, but has stuck with the one made just for him. If he plays, he’ll be far from the first to do so while wearing a cast or brace, but he’ll almost certainly be the first to do so with a 3-D printed one. It doesn’t look like a club and it won’t restrict his movement; it’s made specifically for him and specifically to let him play the way he wants to…..continued”

Hillary Clinton took her campaign to church Sunday, departing New Hampshire two days before the primary to travel to this beleaguered city to assure residents that they haven’t been forgotten.

…no presidential candidate has trumpeted the issue as consistently as Clinton —

  32. 75 globalcitizenlinda
    February 7, 2025 at 3:40 pm

    questions:

    (a) both times, IA & NH were states in PBO’s win column, what happens if eventual Dem candidate had problems wining them in the primary?

    (b) give that gop has candidates from FL and OH, both swing states, what implication does this have on getting to 270 electoral college in NV?

clearly, we have a lot of work to do and I have not seen a massive voter registration drive on the ground in my Ultimate Swing State, OH …. may be I am just always in the wrong spot

Great questions. The DNC should be duplicating Howard Dean’s 50-state strategy and getting as many potential voters registered during the primaries as possible. My fear is that our side isn’t as motivated to vote as the other side.
