Chat Away

“Looking out at these beautiful, talented young women, I know that we have the power to keep reaching higher and defying the odds, and achieving those firsts, and seconds, and thirds, and hundreds, and thousands until a black principal dancer is no longer a cause for headlines. And our children are limited only by the size of their dreams and their willingness to work for them.” — First Lady Michelle Obama to the 51 talented young dancers who came to the White House to perform for Black History Month

The first and last president with all the qualities we can be proud of. He is not perfect and never pretends to be. I don’t agree with everything he has done but with most eventhough i may not benefit directly with his polices others have.

Barack Obama was meant to be in this place in this time. He has kept us from being stagnant and made us able to remain a player on the world’s stage. Those qualities that you described, meta, is what we needed to move into the 21st Century.

Budget Committee Democrats Unanimously Condemn Republican Refusal to Hold Hearing on President’s Budget

    https://vanhollen.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/budget-committee-democrats-unanimously-condemn-republican-refusal-to

The full text of the letter is below:

    Dear Chairman Price:

We are appalled at your decision refusing to hold a hearing where the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) presents the President’s fiscal year 2017 budget. This choice is more than just a rejection of the House Budget Committee’s longstanding, bipartisan tradition; it is disrespectful to the Committee members, the public and the President.

You deem the President’s budget unworthy of review – sight unseen – because past Administration budgets have rejected the Tea Party agenda. Indeed, the President’s budgets embody starkly different priorities than recent Republican budgets that disinvest in America, privatize Medicare, hurt the middle class, slash social safety net programs like Medicaid, threaten retirement security, protect special interest tax loopholes for the ultra-wealthy, and use gimmicky accounting tricks to falsely claim balance.

Every year since 1975, the Budget Committee has held a hearing on the President’s budget with a high-level witness representing OMB. That hearing provides Members of Congress their first opportunity to examine the breadth of the President’s request. While other committees may hold later hearings that focus on specific aspects of the Administration’s request, the Budget Committee is the only one that also looks at its overall budgetary impact.

In fact, at the start of the 114th Congress the Majority of the Committee approved an oversight plan that states its intention to hold hearings with both the OMB Director and the Treasury Secretary on the President’s fiscal year 2017 budget. That oversight plan also states that “In the process of developing the annual concurrent budget resolution, the Committee will hold hearings and receive testimony from Members of Congress, Cabinet-level and other Federal officials, State and local officials, and expert witnesses to review the budget and economic outlook, the President’s budget submissions and other budget proposals.”

We urge you to rethink your choice, and to ensure that the Committee lives up to its responsibilities to our members, this Congress and the American people.

    Sincerely,

Congressional GOP ‘unwilling to even talk about the budget’

    http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/congressional-gop-unwilling-even-talk-about-the-budget#break

For all the talk about President Obama coming up short when reaching out to congressional Republicans, we’re occasionally reminded who’s ultimately to blame for the partisan dysfunction in the nation’s capital.
    .
    .
For their part, Republicans have made no credible effort to defend the move, only issuing a statement describing the White House’s economic agenda – the agenda that lowered the unemployment rate from 10% to 4.9%, ended the Great Recession, and cut the deficit by $1 trillion – as being filled with “failed policies.”

I realize there are lazy Beltway pundits who remain convinced that bipartisan cooperation is impossible because “Obama won’t lead,” but stories like these serve as a timely reminder that those pundits are mistaken.

Any American with any common sense, knows that the dysfunction on Capital Hill lies with no one but the Republican Party. This have been their plan from before Barack Obama walk into that Oval Office.

Now looking at that picture of FLOTUS and those young girls, I want that Bernie supporter Michael Sainato who wrote that article in Huff Post to tell me again how America needs a First Lady who represent them. Tell that to those young girls. I have a feeling they would say just like I would we have had a wonderful First Lady who have represented America very well. although alot of Americans have shown disrespect toward her, she have march on with class and such dignity.

    The song says,

“You’ve got to know when to hold ’em
    Know when to fold ’em
    Know when to walk away
    Know when to run…”

When I look at the GOP candidates, they don’t seem to have the judgment to know when it’s time to stop being stubborn and let it go. That’s the same kind of judgment they would bring to the office if elected POTUS. It’s obvious that some aren’t ready for prime time (and won’t be any time soon if ever).

I looked at the author of that article, read it, and though it “praises”** PBO (reluctantly IMO), unlike Plouffe I am not inclined to share it. I notice Brooks *took down* everybody while subtly (?) uplifting Rubio.

** I shouldn’t even have used the word ‘praises’ for Brooks’ positive comments was simply stating facts.

One of these days….maybe…. I’m going to get an editing service launched! If I could ever figure out how to charge I’d already be rich from all the editing of letters, resumes, essays, speeches, etc. etc. that I’ve done over the years. These are just some of the things that Hillary should address with young women and girls……can you imagine if she had teamed up with FLOTUS for the LET Girls Learn Initiative…in fact how many from the so-called Feminist movement have lent their support to this initiative…or to the President’s STEM program…calling on girls to go into the sciences…

It is how they worded it. They didn’t say clearly how not passing the budget is disastrous. No. none rule in effective communication - KISS. No run along sentences with commas, semi-colons etc. It is due to my engineering background. :)
