I posted a transcript of what HRC said last night that Bobfr was kind enough to tweet out:

I would add Kamala Harris, Deval Patrick & Senators Corey Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Whitehouse to that list:

Sri is a very good choice! A very good choice indeed. I would be happy with this choice, as I would with Eric Holden or Don Verrilli

Crazy story by Axelrod!!!! Scalia suggested nominating Kagan at the WHCD when Souter stepped down (President Obama nominated Sotomayor) but still…..

“……When the shocking news of Justice Antonin Scalia’s passing hit Saturday night, my mind raced back to a White House Correspondents Association dinner seven years ago, when we were seated together. We bantered about my hometown of Chicago, where he had taught law before ascending to the bench. He opined on wine and music and generally lived up to his reputation as a man who told and enjoyed a good story. And then our conversation took an unexpected turn. Justice David Souter, Scalia’s longtime colleague on the court, had just announced his retirement, creating a vacancy for President Obama to fill. Scalia figured that as senior adviser to the new president, I might have some influence on the decision — or at least enough to pass along a message…..

….”I have no illusions that your man will nominate someone who shares my orientation,” said Scalia, then in his 23rd year as the court’s leading and most provocative conservative voice. “But I hope he sends us someone smart.” A little taken aback that he was engaging me on the subject, I searched for the right answer, and lamely offered one that signaled my slight discomfort with the topic. “I’m sure he will, Justice Scalia.” He wasn’t done. Leaning forward, as if to share a confidential thought, he tried again. “Let me put a finer point on it,” the justice said, in a lower, purposeful tone of voice, his eyes fixed on mine. “I hope he sends us Elena Kagan.”…….continued”

“Supermarkets in France have been banned from throwing away or spoiling unsold food by law. The stores are now required to donate unwanted food to charities and food banks. To stop foragers, some supermarkets have poured bleach over the discarded food or storing binned food in locked warehouses. This law was voted unanimously by the French senate on Wednesday after a petition was launched by Courbevoie councillor Arash Derambarsh…..

…..Jacques Bailet from Banques Alimentaires, a network of Food banks, told the Guardian: “Most importantly, because supermarkets will be obliged to sign a donation deal with charities, we’ll be able to increase the quality and diversity of food we get and distribute. “In terms of nutritional balance, we currently have a deficit of meat and a lack of fruit and vegetables. This will hopefully allow us to push for those products. “That is very important for food banks because this is a real source of quality products, coming straight from the factory.” Mr Derambarsh is now looking to get an EU-wide law banning supermarket food waste….cont”

“Since Albert Einstein first predicted their existence a century ago, physicists have been on the hunt for gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of spacetime. That hunt is now over. Gravitational waves exist, and we’ve found them. That’s according to researchers at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), who have been holed up for weeks, working round-the-clock to confirm that the very first direct detection of gravitational waves is the real deal. False signals have been detected before, and even though the rumors first reported by Gizmodo have been flying for a month, the LIGO team wanted to be absolutely certain before making an official announcement. That announcement has just come. Gravitational waves were observed on September 14th, 2015, at 5:51 am ET by both of the LIGO detectors, located in Livingston, Louisiana, and Hanford, Washington. The source? A supermassive black hole collision that took place 1.3 billion years ago. When it occurred, about three times the mass of the sun was converted to energy in a fraction of a second…..

…..The discovery has been accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters. Gravitational waves are ripples in the universe caused by some of the most energetic cosmic events, from exploding stars to supermassive black hole mergers. As they propagate through space and time, gravitational waves cause tiny tremors in atoms that make up matter. While Einstein predicted them in his general theory of relativity in 1916, and their existence was indirectly demonstrated in the 1980s, it wasn’t until the LIGO detector came online in 2002 that the hunt for elusive spacetime ripples started to get serious…..continued”

it has been noted in a few tweets that there are vulnerable GOP Senators in Blue States..PA is One of them,,,Sen Toomey…

i saw a tweet that called on Bernie Sanders and his band to fight against the obstruction of the GOP Senate…i think it is time for We the People to be heard as well…PBO cannot do this by himself…

Justice had died less than 24 hours and the body is barely cool before fighting starts. I’m going to switch to the Panda Cam at the National Zoo. It’s more entertaining to watch a panda scratch than hear the rubbish the republicans are spewing. Civility dictates at least we get him in the ground first, but in the age of the 24 hour news cycle and twitter, let the games begin.

I thought that the President was more than civil in his statement re: the death of Justice Scalia….it was the GOP who thought to dictate to the President even before he made his statement….

the GOP had done everything it could to destroy the 44th President of the US…even if it meant hurting the people of the USA…

PBO spoke on the appointment because the media and political world responded to the hype that once again the GOP has wrought…because as we have seen….esp over the last 7 years…the constitution means nothing to the GOP and their minions…

It would be smart if the DNC or Hillary’s people got Rep. Lewis’ permission to use portions of this speech and run it during this election cycle on all major channels and internet sites that people visit. It’s a commercial that must be heard leading up to the Election.

Not sure if this has been previously posted - via LGF - via dkos

    Senator McConnell:

“Any President’s judicial nominees should receive careful consideration. But after that debate, they deserve a simple up-or-down vote. . . . It’s time to move away from advise and obstruct and get back to advise and consent. The stakes are high . . . . The Constitution of the United States is at stake. Article II, Section 2 clearly provides that the President, and the President alone, nominates judges. ”

Quotes his own actions since 2009 - advise and obstruct

    Hello Wonderful People!
I wrote here once about a death at SCOTUS. I theorized that it was to be either Roberts or Thomas before PBO’s term ended. As the hypothesis of this theory went, Consciously, Scalia was pushed aside for a reason that made zero sense. Full disclosure, It was never a wish of Death for any SCOTUS on my part. It was just that Thomas looked unhealthy and Roberts had 2 previous unexplained seizures.

Great Post. No doubt GOP,RWEchoChamber,MSM are going to work overtime to confuse, distort, lie, distract, etc to win public opinion on what is a Guaranteed Rightful Duty of a PTOUS since 1779. Thank Goodness, .@POTUS is President. A Fight he Welcomes. The Haters are about to be exposed, period.
