Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Tuesday morning. Congrats Roberta, on being first this morning.

To all, I hope that you are filled with knowledge, understanding, and wisdom in all things you encounter today. <3 <3 <3

Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆

Morning all. Congratulations, Roberta. Chips, did your sister decide to take on your newbie boarder? I’m concerned about your well being having to stress out over the tension between Danny and the newcomer. Home has got to be a place where you can shed tensions, not heighten them. Hope you find a good solution quickly.

    • February 16, 2025 at 8:01 am

No takers yet Jackie, my sister’s still thinking about it. And the woman who took him initially texted me this morning to say she might have found someone who wants to take him - but no details. We’ll see. Meanwhile, Danny’s hedgehog is keeping the peace:

They look pretty peaceful there. Good thing you took a photo!

Hope it all comes together for you soonish, Chips, and everyone’s nerves are soothed.

You know Meta, I think I understand now what it must be like to have twins - it’s heavenly when they’re both asleep, but when one stirs the other does too, and the peace is shattered!! :-)

Dear Chips, give them time. I have 3 rescue dogs, the oldest 14 (male bichon) 10yo girl (sorta bichon) and my latest and this little girl thinks she is the boss, who is somewhere around 8ish. blind, and a Carian terroir yorkie mix..it takes time - the new one eats outside, but at the moment all 3 are having AM naps on the sofa. Maddie (the newbie) well have my coffee empty in 15 seconds if I leave it for a moment. Yes there at moments when I wonder what the heck I did, but overall these rescues are my joy. Your rescue so reminds me of my first dog. I have a photo of us sitting on the stairs when I’m about 4yo. that was 70+years ago. they do become a part of your heart and life. So proud of you for trying to make this work, it takes time. they have huge egos and love for the head of the house. (you)

I’m keeping all fingers crossed that you find a safe and happy home for the new one where he can be king of the roost. Then Danny can go back to being the king of his own castle. Always wondered what hedgehogs did, but never imagined them as peacekeepers. Poor thing seems to have lost an eye in the battle, though.

    • February 16, 2025 at 8:20 am

Ha, the hedgehog still has a pair of eyes, promise!!! :-) Just hoping things work out soon, newbie is a dote but I just can’t see it working, Danny’s severely stressed - but being very good about it.

Nice idea, SW. On Thursday I’m chairing a meeting that usually includes a lot of loud Berniebots. I am usually ready to scream by the end of the meeting and my jaw always aches. So far I’ve managed not to throw anything at anybody, so I consider that a triumph of restraint.

Cue the feckless RWNJ press corps asking the most inane irrelevant questions - using GOP talking points & lies to frame a bunch of Questions about POTUS “choosing to pick a SCOTUS fight” when he’s simply exercising his constitutionally-given right and fulfilling his responsibility as Commander-in-chief.

I can remember when the media kept saying it wasn’t going to happen - supported the GOP every step of the way. The dems in congress started to mumble & then PBO got them together - and it was done.

“…how many things had to go just right.” While ACA has not been a failure, it could have been much more successful had it been implemented *as intended*. How many are not insured because GOP governors would not accept Medicaid expansion? What other obstacles have been put in place to make ACA seem not as appealing to some as to others? The savings some have talked about are not realized by others depending on the state where they live. The same options of providers are not available from state to state.

Fortunately, the benefits from ACA have outweighed the perceived issues created primarily by GOP obstruction. All the more reason we need someone who will build on the successes instead of dismantling it potentially leaving us with nothing.

      • 72 jackiegrumbacher
        February 16, 2025 at 9:13 am

Medicaid expansion would have made a huge difference in the lives of millions of Americans if SCOTUS hadn’t screwed this up with their ‘opt out’ decision. The Republican SCOTUS majority did everything in its power to undermine up the success of OCare, but it’s succeeded despite all of their meddling.
Of course, if Bernie Sanders had been president all he would have needed to do is snap his fingers and we would have had Single Payer from an obedient Congress and SCOTUS.

        • 73 swbluega
          February 16, 2025 at 9:18 am

Bernie is assuming that his white privilege will automatically make the GOP in congress more receptive to his proposals.

That may have been true once upon a time, but I think the extremism has gotten to the point that Bernie’s assumption is a pipe dream.

Bernie supporters must believe the same thing swbluega. My question is were have these people been the last 7 years? Have they been sitting in their corner blaming President Obama for everything that didn’t get done, that they wanted. It seem to me these Bernie supporters blame the President more then they blame the tea racists Republican Party.

First of all, expectations were UNREASONABLY high. How people (progressives) were expressing dissatisfaction within the first 2 years of PBO’s presidency to the point that they are telling people to stay home to “teach President Obama a lesson” I’ll never understand… as if it were unreasonable of him to concentrate on getting us out of a recession and two wars rather than their pet issues.

Waiting for Bernie supporters to storm D.C. for a SCOTUS nominee. How’s that working out?

Of course, Bernie thinks they will storm for him, striking fear in the hearts of McConnell, Ryan, etc. Yeah, right. They will call them a “socialist mob”, ready to turn us into the Soviet Union, and we have McGovern all over again.

The stupidity is breathtaking. I’m living through this with my own Mr. 57, and he’s 76 years old! At least he’s listening, and I’m not yelling at him.

This election is starting to scare the hell out of me……..

Me too; I worry about Nevada and the bandwagon effect; the constant barrage of negative articles about HRC, and the relentless and unremitting work of the Brerniebros on twitter is dividing the Democratic party in a way that could lose us the presidency. The media is just awful; I used to like Jon Ralston in Nevada but caught him several times dissing Hillary. When I called him out on it, he dissed me. I just mocked him. Now I read that NV is closing the gap between HRC and BS. How could that be?

                February 16, 2025 at 12:18 pm

I heard on MSNBC that Jon Ralston is now a member of that station. Cannot remember his exact title but seems it is different from when he was on before as a NV journalist. That could explain any differences in his reporting and behaviors. It seems to me since Comcast took over there has been first a slow and not so evident change tilting towards the GOP, then an all out crossing over with no hiding to support the corporate agenda.

A disturbing tweet yesterday (I paraphrase): “Stop telling me that Trump will be stopped in the general. How’s that working out in the primaries?” Bernie is a destructive force, cynically (or stupidly) feeding “everything is free and will come instantly” to our version of tea-party dumb on the progressive side. God help us.

What’s also scary is that all the rules seem to have been thrown out the window. Campaigns are doing whatever they can get away with and even if they get caught, it doesn’t seem to matter because it doesn’t seem to matter to their supporters. Values, character, responsibility…none of those things seem to matter any more.

    Good Morning.

“In the year ahead, we’re not going to be on the defensive,
shoring up problems and answering our critics. We are moving forward,
and I have no doubt that when we look back 1988 will be a year of great
accomplishment toward our goals. This is the year when Judge Anthony
Kennedy will be confirmed and the Supreme Court will again be brought
up to full strength. The Federal judiciary is too important to
be made a political football. I would hope, and the American
people should expect, not only for Judge Kennedy’s confirmation but for
the Senate to get to work and act on 27 other judicial nominations that
have been left in limbo for quite awhile now.”

—Ronald Reagan on January 19, 1988, in the last full year of his Presidency.

Before he was a U.S. senator or a candidate for president, Ted Cruz argued before the U.S. Supreme Court nine times, putting the Texas Republican in an exclusive club.

Over nine trips to the Supreme Court, Cruz clearly lost four cases and won two. The other three rulings were less clear-cut.
