A Texas judge ruled Friday that the case of a teenager who used an “affluenza” defense in a fatal drunken-driving wreck will be moved to adult court, meaning the teen could face jail time for the 2013 wreck that killed four people.
Ethan Couch was 16 at the time of the crash near Fort Worth. During his juvenile trial, a defense expert invoked the term “affluenza” while arguing Couch’s wealthy parents had coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility.
The Friday ruling means the 18-year-old Couch could face 120 days in jail, then finish his 10-year probation. But if he violates his probation during that time, he could get up to 10 years in prison for each of the four people killed in the accident.
The judge ordered that the case be transferred before Couch turns 19 in April. Couch remains in custody.

Feeling more TGIF than usual. We had a fascinating day in our state capitol lobbying for a gun sense bill. There was a huge crowd chanting and even pounding on the House Chamber doors in support of the “raise the wage” bill. It passed after hours of debate and will be signed by the Governor. The vote on our bill has been deferred until Monday because one Democrat has a court case out of town. At least the gun fetishists did not show up yesterday. They must be worn out from cheering on the Bundys and losing.

Delighted to hear that. My Rep. has a bill in development for the session next year to do the same. Not enough time in the current short session for more than a couple of gun bills, so they put closing the Charleston Loophole first. Hope we get it passed!

I just spoke to two Republicans in the break room here at work and both of them just shocked me by saying that if Trump wins the nomination that for the first time they will not vote for a candidate for President (I knew they would NEVER vote for a Democrat). So maybe there is hope for this country because these are two dyed-in-the-wool staunch Republicans. :shock:
My guess is my husband would be in that category. Think I said once before here that he will never vote for HRC (or Bernie), but do believe he would have voted for Joe Biden…….against a DT or TC, for sure.

Nothing would be any better than that.
