The political arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus — CHC BOLD PAC — is set to endorse Hillary Clinton at a press conference at the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters on Monday morning, in yet another sign of the presidential front-runner’s strength in Washington and among Hispanic leaders.

The move is hardly a surprise considering that most of the caucus members are publicly backing Clinton, but it’s still a useful endorsement as she looks to effectively seal the nomination against Bernie Sanders on Super Tuesday. Among the states voting on Tuesday is Texas, which has a large Hispanic population.

Joe Cirincione, one of the finest minds concerning nuclear proliferation and FP and someone I deeply respect, joined the Sanders FP team. He likes his plan to reduce nuclear weapons. He said that PBO had that stance during his campaign and then the policy stalled. He was part of PBO’s FP team during the campaigns. He did, however, praise PBO for the Iran deal, which he has done wholeheartedly and repeatedly. He said that the success of the Iranian elections is directly tied to that deal, and he had nothing but praise for Sec. Kerry.

But I was taken aback to hear he was on Sanders’ team. And he had some disturbing comments on Hillary and Libya. Joe understands that sometimes intervention is necessary. I hope he doesn’t think BS is actually going to give a damn about FP, but I must admit it was a shrewd move on Sanders’ part. Didn’t make me happy this morning.

It just shows the various nuances in this campaign, a bit amazing at times. I just thank our lucky stars that our two candidates are who they are, flaws included, some larger than others, and that they are NOT those RWNJs like Trump and the like. They’re going down. And they must go down, before they bring down our country much more than they’ve already tried!

          February 29, 2025 at 12:44 pm

He really is a great guy, although if he’s going to go emoprog on me, he’s off my list. Understand, he has been a lion of support for PBO on the Iran deal and he has always loved PBO since his days in the Senate working on nuclear proliferation with Richard Lugar. That being said, he said that BS wasn’t going to get rid of our stockpile, just unilaterally reduce it some. I don’t think he realizes the zealot that he’s dealing with here: this is the liar that said he would keep ACA, when his own plan obliterates all health care in the country except single payer. He’s a liar in order to get support. He cannot possibly think that we are safe in Bernie’s hands. He’ll sit on them, his precious principle, and watch the world blow up. So even though Joe has been one of my heroes on FP, I’m having some serious doubts.

He said that PBO had that stance during his campaign and then the policy stalled…

        ************************
Everyone seems to have their “pet” Projects…the policy has not stalled…getting rid of nuclear weapons and material in the world requires cooperation…i wonder what Joe thinking is the Presidents move to get chemical weapons out of Syria…

        sigh…

reminds me of how those in the environmental movement were critical of the President…because once again he has not done enough…

now here’s JOE…i wonder what he thinks Bernie Sanders is going to do….or can do……

Well, his field of expertise is nuclear issues. He really is a great guy and a great mind. My impression from the interview this morning was about what we were doing with our own stockpile of nuclear weapons. Bernie wants to unilaterally reduce our numbers - not eliminate but reduce. It was the position PBO took in 2008. But I don’t know how much Congress can muck that up. And if Joe Cirincione doesn’t know that Presidents need the cooperation of Congress, then he has gone down in my estimation.

Sometimes I think there are many people thinking the GOP are opposing PBO only because he is Black and that any White opposition figure could get everything they wanted done merely because they are from the same race. Another words, Bernie supporters think because Bernie is a White man he can get everything he wants.
My thoughts on the topic from a different perspective, Native American/White, are that our PBO received unprecedented disrespect and opposition bolstered due to his ethnicity. The emboldened instigators counted on the corporate owned media’s lack of outrage and furthering the opposition talking points while not presenting proven facts. They also counted on the underlying racist atmosphere still demonstrated in our society. My thoughts are this was only brought to the surface due to the racial aspect. It has been there in coded language and attempts to undermine average people’s rights and benefits in favor of the 1% for a long time. Bernie has been talking about this forever.
PBO consistently speaks about this unfairness and has for his entire presidency. He has tried to tax the wealthy in order to correct this with OFA helping with Congressional pleas. It is not a new problem. It is only more evident. The first step in correcting a problem is recognizing there is a problem. By PBO enduring the onslaught of this strong hateful racial rhetoric he has brought the problem to the surface in a way no one else could. He expertly maneuvered his way through this unimaginable mess with generosity, strength of character, and tolerance. He is a man for the history books. However, I do not think another no matter what race he/she is can step in and make everything right. Change is a lengthy process with many set backs. Hope endures.

I’m really upset about it, meta. He can’t possibly think that BS can run the nuances of FP. He’s just not capable of those serious judgments. I guess I’ve missed the tweets from Joe that led to this. And apparently the NYT hit job on Hillary and Libya was his source of information on that issue. Sigh.

It really irks me because I’ve been very supportive of Cirincione’s work and had no idea he felt this way about POTUS. ARGH.

              February 29, 2025 at 1:21 pm

Oh, meta, I’m so glad to talk to someone about this. I was shocked. I have never heard Joe say nothing that wasn’t supportive of PBO, and now this? And he used the “judgment” word about Libya, that Hillary chose “regime change” & PBO went along. At the time, it looked like it was going to work. And I can just hear the shrieking if they’d left Gaddafi there. PBO can’t win with these people no matter what he does.

Does Joe honestly think BS is any way competent to lead this nation in a complex world? He barely knows what he’s talking about, doesn’t care, and will rest on “principle” when he does nothing. I’m soooooo disappointed.

I KNOW!!!! My only thought is that Joe somehow sees this as a chance to be in the spotlight or something. IOW, opportunistic! It really all just sickens me. But to put his reputation at stake lining up with Sanders? And to put any of this on PBO? It’s CRAZY. I mean, PBO has DONE MORE than anyone to rid our world of nuclear weapons. I really really don’t get it.

Good morning TODville!!! We are having spring weather in Montana. The last two weeks our daily average is between 40 and 50 and acouple of days have been warmer that that. Also the nights have barely been below freezing. This is so unusual for us. There is snow on the mountain tops just not down around us. Our weather is changing to much. We don’t have much winter at all.

Well, this does it for me. I cannot stand Alan Grayson. I am afraid he may beat Patrick Murphy in Florida. If he wants Bernie, I will have to go with Hillary for sure. There is no one in this race I really want to vote for. I have already received my early primary ballot.

Patrick Murphy in Florida is running for U.S. Senate, and is really going after Grayson for his financial affairs (I believe). I watch Florida Dem politics a little, because I hope to move back there one day … and, although I don’t have a dog in this hunt, if anybody is looking for individual candidates to support and cares to donate to Murphy, here’s a link: http://www.murphyforflorida.com/

Hmmm….It seems to me that Sanders’ endorsers are flocking to him for reasons other than principle or ideology. To be more specific, Sanders’ endorsers are flocking to him because they have some personal (usually petty) “beefs” with the Obama admin, or with PBO himself, and are using their endorsement of Sanders as a very childish “F-U” manner to POTUS and anyone or anything who they think represents him the closest.

        Just my observation….

Agreed. I’ve thought that from the jump, and the Cornel West surrogacy is a dead giveaway.

Put broadly, Sanders supporters are angry and think PBO is a failure.

“Sanders supporters are angry and think PBO is a failure.”

Angry yes, but I doubt they think he’s a failure. Rather, I believe they’re mad that he’s quite the success they’d hoped he would never be. The fact that the Sanders’ campaign seems bent on trying to copy everything PBO did and are using him as a benchmark for how great their campaign is, tells me that it is envy/jealousy that is at the root of their animosity towards him.

    New CNN poll

    1. Donald Trump: 49% (up from 41% in CNN’s poll in January)

    2. Marco Rubio: 16% (up from 8%)

    3. Ted Cruz: 15% (down from 19%)

    4. Ben Carson: 10% (up from 6%)

    5. John Kasich: 6% (up from 1%)

Two things stuck out for me: How very deeply VP have delved into this subject and how much he’s learned. And incredibly excited these doctors are to have this administration’s support and how deeply appreciative they are of VP Biden.

The audio of the conversation is at the bottom of this piece:

Okay, after watching these other videos from this compilation — there’s more context (and more video) —

It looks like the reporter didn’t like being told to step back. He decided to challenge the agent who was blocking him, wouldn’t move back, got in agent’s face exclaiming “fuck you” (like “I’m not going anywhere”) and agent took him down. That’s kinda what the agent is supposed to do, he just did it rather clumsily.

Notice the video of the reporter outside the video saying he “stepped 18 inches outside the pen and he grabbed me and started choking me and then he slammed me into to the ground.” No mention that the agent told him to get back, blocked him forward movement and he yelled “fuck you” as if he didn’t do anything wrong. LOL!
