Yes it is Dudette. I don’t think our FLOTUS have gotten enough acknowledgement about the wonderful things she is doing. It is always about what she is wearing, but we here knows that our First Lady is an smart intelligent woman too.

By the way, it turns out there is no official title for the Prime Minister’s spouse in Canada. American media just refers to her as “First Lady” for convenience. You learn something new everyday. :-)

State dinners are so exciting, and this one especially so because you just *know* that Sophie Trudeau is completely on board with #LetGirlsLearn, and she and Michelle Obama will continue this initiative after Jan 20, 2017.

“The U.S. first lady and Grégoire-Trudeau were greeted by students from Kent Gardens Elementary who performed Frere Jacques, Jing Bells in French and also a rap.
Mrs. Obama and Ms. Gregoire-Trudeau smiled and joined in when the students danced.
At the U.S. Institute for Peace, Mrs. Obama and Ms. Gregoire-Trudeau spoke to young women from Girls Inc., and Girls Scouts of America, among others, about the U.S. initiative that promotes girls education, Help Girls Learn.
After opening remarks from the first lady’s chief of staff, Tina Tchen, Mrs. Obama addressed the excited crowd.
“She is like my soul mate,” Mrs. Obama beamed while looking at Gregoire-Trudeau who was standing by her side.
“We’ve gotten in a lot of trouble,” she joked, adding that the two of them will get into more trouble by the end of the visit.
Then Mrs. Obama addressed the issue at hand – education for girls.
“What if you were told you weren’t going to get education?” Mrs. Obama asked. She talked about the girls she’s met across the world, who wake up before dawn and perform their chores before getting on bikes and riding miles just to get to school.
Mrs. Obama said she’s met girls willing to risk rejection from their families to get education and girls willing to risk their life.
“Girls like Malala” she said, referring to Pakistani activist and Nobel peace laureate Malala Yousafzai.
The power of education, said the first lady, is not just for girls but for their families and entire countries.
Mrs. Obama said Canada is truly a close friend and ally.
“Our husbands spoke very eloquently today about that friendship and the President and I are honoured to have Prime Minister Trudeau and Mrs. Gregoire-Trudeau here today.”

What a beautiful press conference, I enjoyed hearing from both of these great men. I love the way President Obama casually leans on his podium as he answers questions. I think going forward whenever my wife asks me a question I’m going to go get me a podium and lean on it and answer all of her questions the way President Obama does. Honey let me take the second part of your question first, no I did not think I should have made sandwiches for the both of us because you don’t like mayonnaise nor do you like the way I make my sandwich. Now if you want me to make you a sandwich I will be more than happy to.

They are changing the Constitution at will…this sets a deadly precedent..the GOP have changed the way the Senate works…now they want to change the way our Constitution works… the Senate has the right to refuse the candidate nominated by the President…but they do NOT have to right to not hold hearings and then NOT vote on a nominee.. they believe they are ABOVE the Constitution…That they do not have to abide by the Constitution..Dangerous..

I still can’t understand and no one has explained this to my satisfaction why the protester that was punched by the Trump supporter was thrown to the ground by the police? They walked right past the assaulter as if nothing happened???
Donna - I believe some of the police lied and said the protester created a problem and they didn’t see the guy hit him. Then the videos of the actual punch surfaced (thank you, social media), and they changed their story.
As to why … only the devil knows.
