Exactly, Dudette! Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat! He is taking advantage of the Democratic Party. For me as a loyal Democrat, I am fed up with him and the BS of his “holier than thou, purity progressive” supporters.

Well, the real BS begins to emerge. He is an blatant hypocritical opportunist, akin to Drumpf!!!!! Worse still, he derides the party’s leader and the party itself. He deserves the utmost contempt.

Take a minute to read this….I believe the entire TOD community feels this way!

“CHICAGO — In his 30s and 40s, the Rev. C.T. Vivian rode with the Freedom Riders, organized sit-ins in Nashville and worked closely with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Many years later, before the 2008 election, he traveled the country along with other civil rights leaders exclaiming to voters that a Barack Obama presidency was exactly the kind of prize that they had been fighting for all their lives. All of that came back to him during a meeting at the White House three weeks ago between President Obama and several of those leaders. Mr. Vivian told the president how proud he was of him, and how sad he was to see him go. And then he began to cry. “If there was a way I could keep him there I would keep him there for another term,” Mr. Vivian, 91, said later from his home in Atlanta. “It is difficult for people who are not African-American to understand what it has been to have someone in the White House that you know understands you.”….But a large segment of the country has also been busy gazing upon the presidency that is ending. In interviews, African-Americans around the country said they were counting down the last 10 months of Mr. Obama’s term with pride, with sadness and also with a looming despair.

…. At dinner tables, Bible studies and classrooms throughout black America, elders, their children and their children’s children have been asking whether the breakthrough they thought they would never see will turn out to be an anomaly that they never see repeated…“I come from an area where we never thought it was going to be possible,” said Russell Singleton, 64, who grew up on the South Side of Chicago and now tends a shoe shine station in the president’s old barbershop. He recalled as a child seeing a racial slur stenciled onto a sidewalk in bright yellow paint, and as a teenager hurling bricks the night Dr. King was assassinated. He added, shaking his head, “I don’t think I’ll see another black president in my lifetime and I’ll say in the younger generation’s lifetime.” “They won’t allow us to have the reins again,” he continued. “It’s a big prize and they hold onto it dearly.” On the West Side of Chicago, Jakya Hobbs, 13, said matter-of-factly that Mr. Obama’s election was a “miracle,” and not in a good way. “Our system isn’t built for a black person to become president,” she said. Perhaps no one expressed the feeling more viscerally than the young black girl who was captured by her grandmother on video wailing hysterically when she learned that Mr. Obama was soon leaving the White House. The video went viral on Facebook, and after Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president, showed it to him, he told the girl’s grandmother in a Facebook post to “dry her tears, because I’m not going anywhere.”…continued”

      March 14, 2025 at 9:24 pm

I realize that not being a black person I can’t fully experience what it’s described here, but I’m right with Mr.Vivian in getting heartbroken as this presidency slowly comes to an end. All of us who have eyes to see understand the historic nature of his presidency, who have hearts to appreciate his goodness, wisdom, and compassion, can only console ourselves with thinking that he will still be working for our good, still in the public eye after his term is up. But I will not give up on working to select the best and most diverse candidates for president. It cannot go back to being a white males only club electing nonentities when there are so many highly competent men and women of many colors and background with amazing things to contribute. This looks like it will be my last year teaching and I am just fiercely determined to instill in my students the importance of voting intelligently, as well as a broad base of knowledge about all the many and varied people who have contributed to our country. I am constantly learning about important contributions made by people I had never heard of because they are not white.

    Good Evening TODVille,

I believe the DailyKos.com is going gaga. I just received an e-mail urging President Obama to stop additional off-shore drilling. When will Monique Teal, Daily Kos understand that I don’t urge nor tell my POTUS to do anything?

I wish there were a petition for me to sign to urge DailyKos.com to stop this non-sense.

I have been feeling “some kind of way” all day. Little annoyances and big ones (The Fla. democratic primary is tomorrow; I voted early last week); tired of the ads so I do not watch anything live; 4 days to get the Asian call center employees of HP to understand my return request; my family not understanding why there is no way in hell I would go anywhere to hear Bill Clinton talk about anything even though I voted for Hillary and encouraged them to do so as well; stopping in my local new/used bookstore that I have been going to for over 30 years to see Bernie signs plastered all everywhere and trying to hold back the tears and fears about the Obamas leaving the White House and what will become of us all. Usually, I can keep myself in the moment and to face the future with faith, but it all escapes me right now. I really hate election cycles because they really bring out the worst in us. Will be so glad when this circus is over and we can get on to the next American chapter.

I know…people like who they like and I understand she has friendship with DT. But as an ordained minister (as a human being period), surely she shouldn’t feel that the violence that has become a given at Trump rallies is okay and that the violence and hatred directed at protestors are warranted.

And that reminds me of something I read earlier (probably at LGF). People attending Trump rally parked in graveyard - drove over headstones. As someone who believes we learn so much from those who came before us - this is a massive insult to our society. No wonder they are full of hate, given what they do.

It is incredible that they spent the entire day at the White House working with the students and performing. This is unheard of and another Obama first that all of the current cast of the hottest show in the country came and happily spent the day working and enjoying themselves. Barack and Michelle bring out the best in so many. Their big hearts and their authenticity create a safe place for so many to shine and to give back.

Whenever our dear Sen. Nina Turner is announced on TV to speak highly of our dear Sen. Bernie Sanders and his platform for the poor and the middle class (and his plans to kill the millionaires and the billionaires of Wall Street and outside of Wall Street), I reach for my remote control to change the channel. I shouldn’t. But wisdom tells me to mind my heart and its beats. They need to be stable.

I wish I knew who invented remote control. I’ll send him/her a thank you card.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2016/03/historian-ken-burns-trumps-america-is-a-retrograde-moment-white-guilt-metastasizes-into-darkness/

The filmmaker recalled that then-GOP candidate Ronald Reagan opened his 1980 presidential campaign with a “wink-wink” to racist voters by scheduling his first campaign event in Philadelphia, Mississippi where three civil rights workers were lynched to death by KKK members. Burns noted that similar strategies had been employed over and over again by Republican candidates.

“So when you have a presidential candidate who takes a day to remember that he had already once repudiated David Duke and it took a day to remember that he was going to do it now, that is the wink-wink dog whistle that signals to our unreconstructed brethren,” Burns said.

“We would like to believe we would all be that slave ship owner who gives it up and writes ‘Amazing Grace,’” he added. “We’d like to believe in our better selves, but in point of fact, a lot of us aren’t that. And that the old guilts — as Robert Penn Warren talked about — that we’ve inherited from slavery, our original sin, don’t often transform into goodness, but metastasize into darkness — and our politicians spend a lot of time exploiting that.”
