It is his job to give the country a capable jurist who sees the law and the Constitution in the context of justice. And that is what President Obama has done.

    ****************

I was impressed by just this…

as a person of color…equal Justice under the laws does not always reach my community…this more than anything in addition to his reverence for all of the constitution gives me hope…

As Spandan has stated,,,,the President is brilliant….i will miss him when he leaves office..

not sure myself…i just found it a bit bizarre…there was a movie called Children of the Damned….horror movie..from the 60s 70s…i supposed he was comparing Bernie and his folks to them…but if there was a movie he wanted to mimic…i would say it is the Stepherd Wives

It figures, TY, Pf58. I’m not a movie fan, plus I *never* watch horror because of the nightmare factor. I feel better now not having recognized the allusion.

Dudette, I believe that a lot of Rand Paul supporters flocked to Bernie Sanders. These are Rand/Ron Paul type shenanigans. Remember when they tried to change the caucus results in Iowa, and I believe Colorado when Ron Paul ran for President.

I see the Ron/Rand Paul supporter connection firsthand with my Brother going there. He is supporting Bernie right now. I also see him switching to Donald Trump and not voting for Clinton in the GE. He believes everything Drudge and right wing publications write that he reads on Internet. There are so many Clinton conspiracy theories out there too.
I saw the heading on the Enquirer while I was at the grocery store inline today. It was saying that Trump is going to bring out that Hillary had a gay affair, and all the other smear lies I have heard before.

This election is riddled with candidates who try to ignore established rules; and whine when they can’t get away with it. Likewise, these same people [would] try to ignore laws that are in place. They already think the authority of the office they are seeking is beyond what is set forth in the Constitution. They missed the lessons about the branches of government and how checks and balances works.

McConnell, live in the present, not the future you hope to have. Each President’s term of office is four years not three years. The Constitution spells out the duties of the President and the Congress. The Senators are responsible to fulfill their duties during their time serving. We do not arbitrarily say you cannot do your job in an election year. Do your job. Your argument for not following the Constitution is LAME. It involves destroying the Constitutional system. Shame on you!

    • 90 nathkatun7
      March 17, 2025 at 2:42 am

The Constitution says that the President is elected for four years. The Constitution then gives the President the power and responsibility to appoint Judges of the Supreme Court, “with advice and consent” of the United Staes Senate. There is no provision in the U.S. Constitution that says that the American people have a say so when it comes to nominating and confirming a U.S. Supreme Court justice. There is no provision in the U.S. Constitution, which says that a duly elected sitting president can no longer exercise his constitutional powers because it’s an election year. There is no provision in the Constitution that exempts members of the Senate from fulfilling their Constitutional responsibilities because it’s an election year. Mitch McConnell is violating the Constitution and does not deserve to be a Senate Leader! All the Senators who have joined McConnell in abdicating their Constitutional responsibilities do not deserve to be Senators.

    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/8434318f5be74576b91f8ff7e1cb2eae/obama-sanctions-nkorea-nuclear-missile-tests

President Barack Obama hit North Korea with new sanctions Wednesday in response to the country’s “illicit” nuclear and ballistic missile tests earlier this year.

An executive ordered signed by the president implements two sets of sanctions: those that unanimously cleared the U.N. Security Council and a separate round of U.S. sanctions enacted by Obama after Congress overwhelmingly approved and sent him legislation.

“These actions are consistent with our longstanding commitment to apply sustained pressure on the North Korean regime,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said. “The U.S. and the global community will not tolerate North Korea’s illicit nuclear and ballistic missile activities, and we will continue to impose costs on North Korea until it comes into compliance with its international obligations.”

Why do students/citizens *choose* to vacation in countries that are as repressive as N. Korea when they have other choices? And why, when they get themselves in trouble, do they expect their government to step in? This has always troubled me because generally someone else has to put their life on the line to rescue them.

Either everything I’ve read from every other source about the delegate math is wrong, or these people are delusional. This was an email that to a Sanders supporter, which she posted on Facebook.

“Listen up Bernie Supporters, get a grip!
Ugh, I can’t believe I’m saying this to the most optimistic and enthusiastic group of supporters that any campaign has ever seen but…
YOU’VE GOT TO CALM DOWN AND COME BACK TO REALITY. I LOVE YOU, but please, sit down for a moment and stop with the pessimism, it’s contagious and it’s hurtful to our campaign.
Remember what we’ve been saying for WEEKS? This is Hillary’s LAST GOOD DAY.
But then we won Michigan, and honestly, I think we let it get to our heads. . We got overconfident and we invested a lot of emotion into tonight.
Originally, Bernie was not supposed to do well this day anyways.
It is AFTER THIS DAY, that Berniie is going to excel.
We’ve known this,we have the data to prove it. All we had for tonight was the positive high of pulling off Michigan’s upset.
So for the love of Bernie, PULL IT TOGETHER. This was expected for weeks. Don’t let Michgan’s win distort your reality.
We’re still climbing and she’s still failing. That reality hasn’t changed. Stay the course.
Now snap out of it. We’re fine.

[sigh!] Senator Sanders (who is NOT a Democrat) will not win the Democratic nomination. His supporters would do well to accept that and pivot toward working to make sure the Democratic party platform and its nominee is one they can support. That is if they haven’t deluded themselves into thinking Trump would really be a better President than Secretary Clinton.
