yes- that was unexpected- his reaction and really showed his humanity, I think. I was very touched by everything he said. And most of all, the President making it clear, that this judge is all about the law and not bs political crap. That is was the Supreme Court was meant to be. Each day I think I couldn’t love and respect him more, and he makes me a liar :)

I have tears in my eyes; what a good man Judge Garland is and what a master choice by PBO. Only hate and unbridled partisanship can keep this eminently qualified man from being confirmed. We have a absence on the court that must be filled to deal with the current cases before it. Our democracy depends upon the three levels of government working. It is way past time for childish minds to get in its way.

It sounds like Judge Garland has been surrounded by women- mother, sisters, wife, daughters… I think this must bode well for women’s issues.. long as they fall within the “rule of law”. I’m not as thrilled by his previous profession as prosecutor, but that’s just my own thing. He sounds like a very fair and frankly as non-partisan as a judge could possibly be. I never doubt POTUS’ thinking or decisions.
Amazing introduction for an pretty amazing judge! The Republicans don’t want to hear from this nominee, not because they think they will find something wrong with him, but that they won’t. I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch this presentation today…….so much swirling around the announcement. However, I’m so glad I did. This president does not disappoint. I found the president’s statement to be amazing and emotional. He truly told us why he nominated Judge
Garland in dramatic terms and why the process needs to go forward as constitution describes. President Obama is one for the ages!

No one tells personal stories to make a point like President Obama. He and Merrick Garland totally won me over on why this nomination is the wisest choice.
I actually saw people on Twitter who seemed initially displeased or at the very minimum puzzled by the nomination, come to change their minds after PBO and Judge Garland spoke. :) The story-telling was a thing of beauty to witness and quite emotionally touching.
