    GA/GE TODville.

I wonder when McTurtle wakes up and realizes that he’s the anti-Karl (permanent GOP majority) Rove, LOL? (You know the GOP Senators that PBO won in 2008 and/or 2012 won’t enjoy their Spring Break ;) ). Of course the most satisfying will be when Little Marco is out of his Big (Senator) Job.

Another way to say the same thing.

This will be the drumbeat until PBO, FLOTUS, VP and DrBiden join the campaign, then MSM will fabricate speculation to encourage GOP to cast their votes.

And I think this is right — CA hasn’t been in play for almost 50 years (and we have so many vocal loons on the right and the left)…

From day one of his presidency, the US media have been actively enabling the GOP! They’ve been quick to hype and sensationalize topics/issues that they perceive as being negative towards President Obama! The US media have also been complicit in enabling GOP Obstructionism by pretending., or falsely claiming that both sides are the same.

    Oldie but Goodie

I suspect that pretty well sums up President Obama’s approach to his opponents in general. His goal is to set up a situation where its in their interests to cooperate with him. This is what drives some folks on the left positively batty…he doesn’t want to defeat his opponents, he wants to co-opt them.

I remember early in the Obama administration he and I think his family took a trip to Jerusalem and he paid a visit to the wailing wall and he left a note. The note he wrote talked about keeping his ego in check, which of all the things he could have wrote, he talked about keeping his ego in check. I’m sure some days President Obama thinks about annihilating his opponents. But yes, he does not want to destroy them, he simply wants to use them to his advantage.

I remember that day. I think the tradition is that you’re not supposed to look at anyone’s message in the wall but something dug his out and this is what it said:

“Lord — Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.”

did you see a cartoon that came on Nickelodeon called The Avatar…..the Avatar was a monk…the climax in the story came when he had to defeat the Firelord…but he was abhorred to kill him…so what he did was neutralize him by taking away his power…. it was a great risk…but he was Triumphant.

Has Rubio suddenly remembered he is a Senator - with a job - or is he just anti the GOP cause they didn’t help him against Trump?

      • 62 swbluega
        March 19, 2025 at 8:38 am

In some of the last speeches before he suspended his campaign, he seemed a little humbled and disappointed in himself that he resorted to stooped to Trump’s level to be competitive. There also seemed to be some disappointment in the GOP — maybe because of Trump’s ability to destroy what is left of the GOP brand as traditional Republicans may remember. And that an extremist such as Cruz is as successful as he has been thus far in the primary.

Perhaps he will continue to do the right thing…show up for work and do what is right … for the remainder of his term.

And Trump’s the biggest coward. He says whatever he wants to say, because he’s surrounded by private security, local law enforcement, and USSS details. (I was just coming here to write something about his supporters’ being the thugs, and the protesters are the real activists who want to “KEEP America great.” Great minds, eh?)

If Bernie Sanders was in his 30s or 40s, I would at give him a pass on his scanty record of accomplishments. For Christ’s sake, Bernie Sanders is 74 years-old! Please don’t get me wrong: I am not biased against his age! He is, after all, in my age group. But why did Bernie wait so long to start his Revolution? Surely, the economic conditions in the country are not that much worse-off than when President Obama took office in 2009!

I swear I was thinking that a little while ago. With that gusto, think of what he could have accomplished in earlier decades! He started out strong, and then … Anyway, I hope he stays cool no matter how this all turns out. We don’t need a return to the “PUMA” hatefulness around ’08.

A woman who invited US President Barack Obama to her home in Cuba has received a response from the president, as direct mail links between the two countries were restored.

Ileana Yarza, 76, wrote to Mr Obama in February, inviting him to have “a cup of Cuban coffee” at her home in Havana.

The president’s letter, thanking Ms Yarza, was dispatched to Cuba on Wednesday.

It was among the first batch of letters to reach Cuba from the US in 50 years.

Direct postal service between the two countries was suspended at the height of the Cold War, meaning mail was re-routed through other countries - usually Mexico or Canada.

the critically important 2012 thesis from Norm Ornstein and Thomas Mann, who famously wrote that the contemporary GOP ā€œhas become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition…. When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges.ā€
