 What’s everyone waiting for - I held back for a bit expecting to be bested!
You’ve got mail, Furstie!! :star:
CONGRATULATIONS VC!!!!!
TY, and enjoy your Monday, SUE.
Congrats, VC!
 I don’t know how it happened, Alycee, when I was trying hard to prevent it. :)
Hope your Monday is a productive and stress-free one!
#gatecrasher
No, I ain’t. The gate’s still standing because I sidled through cautiously. (Some of us know how to not ruffle the waters.)
Evening to you, Sir Petal. ;)
Evening to you too, my lady.
H-UUU-GE :D
I intend to hold onto this greeting/blessing until my evening arrives!
Thank you /she remembers to respond modestly/
:-)
*giggling* Chips, I came back to the TOD front page to check because in my notification your happy face symbol looked like your eyes were off-centre. I wondered if you had been drinking and also what your front page face would look like. Imagine my relief to see you looked….o-kay!
Congrats, vc!
ty, 57F
VC, congrats on First!
I was wondering if you had work duty this week, and here you are :-)
East & west coast morning, GxG. I’m back on-call for the rest of this month and am hoping that I do get a few calls as I’m broke(n). :D
Broke(n) :D :D :D
Well, let’s hope it you get tomorrow off - at least <3
:D :D Despite my *broken*ness, *I* made an executive decision to take tomorrow off and am toying with another decision as to whether I should go for a mani-pedi today or tomorrow. ….. Maybe tomorrow morning before going with the President to watch the baseball game, if they’ll allow me in the stadium. :) I’ll see if I’m in the mood to leave the house, today though it seems quite unlikely at the moment.
All righty now - treat yourself girlfriend!
Just be prepared to enjoy the baseball game here with us :-)
No problem there - you guys are just the crowd to be good ball game company (says the chick who has only ever been to ONE major/big league ball game). :D
ON MY FB…………………
Good; our military should not be used as mercenaries to hold up a corrupt government to have access to their oil or any other commodity. So glad that PBO’s policies (clean energy, gas, even increased drilling on the short term) have lessened our dependence on them, increased security for our nation, and improved our economy. We are currently the largest exporter of oil. I am also glad that he called out the Saudis and the other countries as “free riders” who have used us in the past even as they hated us. The free ride is over and he is calling countries out. One of my favorite memories of PBO telling others to handle their own business was when an African journalist (I forget which country he was in at the time) asked him in a rather contentious tone about what the U S would do about the unrest in and the treat of the Congo to its neighbors. He told him that the people in the border countries who were being affected would have to join together and take some action themselves.
EVERY MOMENT OF THIS HISTORIC TRIP SHOULD BE COVERED BY EVERY NETWORK IN THIS COUNTRY…AFTER ALL…ALL THEY DO HERE IS CRTICIZE PBO…THEY DON’T WATCH WHAT E DOES OR FRANKLY TAKE PART IN THEIR GOVERNMENT. WHAT FOOLS THEY ARE…CHANGE IS GONNA’ COME…I HAD TO SPEAK SOFT WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO MY NEW PASTOR YESTERDAY…PEOPLE HAVE CALLED HIS ‘MIXED RACE’ CHURCH A CULT! HE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT INDIANA RANKS 5TH IN THE NATION FOR RACISM AND HE HAS A FIGHT ON HIS HANDS!..SHAME ON US!..WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE PBO…THE OTHER OPTIONS HAVEN’T LOOKED SO GOOD HAVE THEY?
sue, have been meaning to send this if you haven’t seen any of the earlier links I’ve posted: http://www.communitydinners.com
so let’s trash Obama, right keith?
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPATHY FOR KEITH ELLISON!
Woke up too early (restless kitties) and saw this live feed!
Thank you so much Chips for the best coverage of this history-making trip on the planet! I am so grateful!
HI All
In the midst of all this superb Cuba Coverage I have a BIG ASK
Please consider attending a SCOTUS event near you, and if you can’t do that, please call the local offices of the Republicans who are vulnerable on the SCOTUS issue.
TODAY Monday March 21st OFA and Move On will be holding 50 events throughout the country to demand that Senators DoTheirJob and hold hearing on the Supreme Court Nominee
I will list them in the posts that follow – please sign up for an event near you. if you cannot attend, please call into a red state and ask folks who have signed a petition of support for PBO and SCOTUS to call their Senators. if you do not have an OFA team near you you can join my team and make calls from home. (we will be calling tomorrow and Wed) – just send me a note. [email protected]
We could also use your help posting on twitter and Facebook – today to invite folks to attend and tomorrow to celebrate the success of these actions. If you live in a state that is having an event go to a Twitter account that follows the model of OFA_AZ or OFA_CA
SCOTUS is such a vital issue, please help if you can.
THANK YOU! This is so important!
Thank you Linda for your tireless efforts!
You can email me a list to call :-)
By Zeus, he needed a whole calculus formula to arrive at this conclusion.
got the job by nepotism. can’t expect anything intelligent from that critter.
Ah, fate. Only saw a few minutes of Hillary’s speech at AIPAC, but luckily it was the part about Esther. Ha!
And, Luke, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are both older than Hillary. So?

TOD is rocking it.
Thanks so much for your coverage.
The old man is too sick, and too sickly looking. Can’t anyone understand that?
Hay ABC NEWS, I really didn’t expect POTUS to meet with Fidel Castro.
Don’t let them get you down, bella. They think everything is a possible negative. It isn’t.
Why should PBO meet with Fidel Castro? He is no longer politically relevant, is old and sick and out of office.
OMG! Our national anthem being played in Cuba.
You could just see President Obama stand up a little bit taller and a little bit prouder, as it played. As well he should.

Sorry, but all the photographers scurrying forward made me laugh.
Me, too, but also made me cringe a little!
true
The Cuban band is playing our National Anthem at the memorial ceremony, in which our President is participating, on Cuban soil.
All because our President is not afraid to wage peace in the world, as a first priority.
<3
President Barack Obama is in Cuba for a historic three-day visit to the island and talks with its communist leader.
He is the first sitting US president to visit since the 1959 revolution, which heralded decades of hostility between the two countries.
Mr Obama said change would happen in Cuba and that Cuban President Raul Castro understood that.
The two leaders are due to meet later on Monday to talk about trade and to hold a joint news conference.

Whoa, things got dicey there for a minute.
Scared me a bit. Had to divert my eyes for a minute!
I know, I was about to jump up out of my chair to protect him, too. Yikes.
All’s well that ends well. But I hope that doesn’t happen again.
What I saw was PBO quite OK with an impromput photo shoot with the delegation.
Oh, yes, he was fine. It’s some of the rest of us who reacted.
JO’: We are such protection bears. I love it. Our PBO seemed fine o’ course.
There are some people you’d put your hand in the fire for, aren’t there! <3
I DID NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL..IT BETTER NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!
If you cannot attend an event you can call.
The Senators are on Spring Recess and they need to hear from us EVERYDAY so when they go back to Washington in April they are feeling the pressure of being an obstructionist.

So Trump and some of his stupid supporters were talking about how President Raul Castro didn’t meet President Obama yesterday when he arrived in Cuba.
That’s all they can pull… to distract the low-level (the poorly educated he loves) supporters from asking real questions about the flimsy promises.
I let them know that the welcoming ceremony would be today and the State’s Dinner too.
Can anyone tell me what that whole getting-too-close-to-my-POTUS was about?
It was a spontaneous photo request. :)
Thanks, Hopefruit!
Dear President Obama, we can do with out the spontaneous photo request.
LOL.
ditto
I HAVE TO CONFESS..I GOT A LITTLE NERVOUS WHEN THEY ALL STARTED FLOCKING TOWARDS PBO AND THE DELEGATION…STAY ON YOUR TOES SS..OR I’LL ‘SUE’ YA!..BBL………………..I LOVE MY ENERGIZER PRESIDENT!
You know POTUS have to help the SS do their job. If it’s not plan by the SS then don’t do it. And POTUS can’t go running into crowds like that.
Thanks to all who will help with this today. Remember our Energizer President is always able to juggle many issues at the same time. My hope is that we can all squeeze in a little bit of the Supreme court as we bask in the Cuba Goodness that lives here.
Cheers
Thanks for all the links and details! We can do this!
TYVM.
Love the picture of FLOTUS hugging Malia and Sasha touring that church.
#gorgeous
Where is this from?
The restaurant where they had dinner last night. Malia is translating the chef’s comments for her dad (according to the caption that is provided on the site from which the photo originates).
The link is on meta’s comment #81.
Noticed that PBO holds the pen between his middle and ring finger. Is this common for a left-handed writer?
I’m a lefty and I don’t do that. Most don’t and I’ve never noticed before that he does that either. Will need to pay closer attention. :)
Thanks Tnmtngirl! My dad was left-handed. Yeah, I noticed just a few minutes ago, when he was signing the guest book. I thought it was unusual, but wanted to check with the lefty TODers.
Am I seeing things or does it look to anyone else that some of the participants are hesitant to invade Pres Castro’s space? PBO always seems to me to try to draw people in - maybe *they* are not used to that.
One thing for sure traveling with Pres Obama these past 8 years has taught me is that I am not, and won’t ever be, a fan of pomp and ceremony. Don’t get me wrong, I love to see and know that he’s shown respect wherever he travels, but ……
Not I. Worked for the Navy for 30 years, and they were all about pomp and ceremony, and I loved it all! Got tears in my eyes at practically every one of those ceremonies - and feel the same about the ones during this trip, so far. Something for everybody, of course!
‘Something for everybody’
Yep. You and I balance the scales on this issue. ;)
And I’m a Libra, so that works for me! :)
I have no idea what Fidel might have named his dog back then and certainly couldn’t give you a quote of his from 1973 … but if he said that, he’s kinda like Nostradamus the Second!!!!
Except there doesn’t seem to be any proof that they were *prophesied*, and there is some speculation that if they were even said they were meant as sarcasm, not prophesy, given the environment for Blacks in USA etc..
beebs caught the tod virus.

I will admit that I got a little nervous to see the welcoming ceremony and all of those swords and rifles too close to my president. I felt a little better when a wider shot showed about 10 SS agents who walked on his other side. PBO as usual walked calmly (the swag walk) down the aisle and then graciously introduced his delegation to Castro. I could see from a long shot at the end that he hugged one of the honor guard. I would love to know what this was about and to see a clearer photo.
I got nervous, as well. No idea why he hugged one of the members of the honor guard and didn’t see it, but I’ll “make up” something like maybe even the member of the honor guard had tears in his (or her) eyes over this grand day! And the President’s so empathetic, he hugged him (or her). How’s that?
the swag walk….yup for the ages…
Given that 27% (including the GOP in congress) disapprove of anything PBO does - that 30% reduces to 3%.
Obama in Cuba: Win-win beckons for Havana and Washington
But it’s the economy where there are massive gains to be had. Under the new openness in relations, 110 flights a day will be able to come to Cuba from the US.
That is going to lead to an explosion in tourism on the island. Say each plane averages just 100 passengers. Then that is 10,000 extra tourists a day, 70,000 a week - potentially an extra three million visitors a year.
So no surprise that the first American hotel group, Starwood, has signed a deal to come to Cuba. How long before some of the other ubiquitous US chains will be wanting to put their toes in the warm, inviting Caribbean water? And just look at the number of CEOs travelling with the president. They’re not coming so they can ride around in a 1950s Chevrolet Bel Air.
And it’s not one-way traffic. Cigar exporters are eyeing the US market that has been closed to them for half a century. Ditto the rum manufacturers. But also some of the high-tech pharmaceutical companies in Cuba will be looking to the US as a growth platform for their products.
Yes, sanctions will only be fully lifted once the US Congress votes to repeal existing laws, and that might still be a little way off. But what both presidents hope is that the process set in train will be irreversible.
Unlike the baseball, which is a zero-sum game - this can be a win for both countries, and a win for both presidents.

New post.

I wonder what the ladies are doing while PBO is handling business? Hope we get some photos.
