Sorry - I’m a great grandmother - it makes me both thrilled and nervous that the President is speaking so brilliantly and honestly in Cuba. He’s the brave warrior of his time and our times, and he’s beating swords into plowshares. That said, I believe God’s protecting him, so I’ll quit worrying. <3

As compelling and riveting as then-Senator Obama’s Philadelphia race speech (happened to be in a car dealer/repair waiting room that morning, and everyone there (all white, IIRC) was riveted to the television screen), directed to the US as much as to Cuba.

This was a very smart move -> HOPE
That’s why I said this (posted upthread in response to JO’B, but this was so historic — everything about it, hung on every word PBO said, plan on watching again soon).
He covered everything; the good, the bad, the ugly and the hope of both sides (US and Cuba). An Anglo/white U S president, I believe, would not have been as well received. It was incredible to hear the applause regarding things that Cubans themselves dare not say aloud. You could sense that fear in the very long standing O that Castro received when he walked in; it was a programmed response.

Last night on PBS (7:00 hour), some guy from the American Enterprise Institute kept saying that he believes or is afraid this will push Raul Castro to be more oppressive. Blah, blah, blah. Gave all the right-wing talking points. They only know negative and regressive attitudes, don’t they?
