The wave starts and what you gonna do when you are used to everyone being afraid to have fun in front of you. Raul might enjoy himself more in his last years if he embraced the respect, empower, include approach to life and let someone run for his office fair and square.

Thanks for that tweet. That’s the other side of the coin. More people should be afraid of economic consequences to electing leftist coup mongers or Birchers. Trump well he’s just a megalogmaniac. Like that would work out for our economy. Sometimes I think people vote with something other than their cortex.

Good morning all of TODville. Love seeing our First Family welcomed in other countries. They make us so proud.

I was on twitter last night following the primaries and really getting upset with the Bernie people. Instead of blaming the GOP state government for the election changes they blame Hillary. You know the long lines in Arizona were because the DNC tried to suppress the vote. No where did any of them say it was because they didn’t come out and vote in 2010 or 2014 and all these states are run by Republicans who are suppressing the vote. They only care about Bernie and hating Hillary. I did piss off some people last night. I really have had it with their purity.

Thank goodness for this place of sanity.

Yes I read they have reduced polling places by more than half. Its the GOP stupid. Because if more people vote then the Democrats win. Voter turnout is a strategy of the Democrats so now we have all kinds of things done to make it harder for people. Remember long lines, no bathrooms, obscure locations, no parking, wrong times sent out as a trick, battles to get identification, voter purges, punishing the League of Women Voter volunteers with heavy fines and legal penalties, preventing students from voting in the state they go to school. Its as obvious as the nose on one’s face. Shame on Justice Roberts. He will be famous for reinstituting Jim Crow voter suppression again.

        March 23, 2025 at 12:00 pm

I agree, these are mostly new voters and they don’t understand the big picture. How important local is to the national. Justice Roberts is the big problem. Getting Dems out to vote in the midterms is the local problem.

      March 23, 2025 at 11:31 am

I’ve been pushing back hard on this, about not voting in midterms, about threatening not to vote which will give us GOP and an even more conservative SCOTUS

My impression is that so many actually don’t know that how elections are conducted are the responsibility of local and state government.

        March 23, 2025 at 12:01 pm

I agree with your impression. They are all listening to Bernie about how bad Hillary is and it’s all her fault. They don’t understand the whole picture.

It bothers me a bit that even though hillz is winning and is on her way to be the nominee, the clinton caucus curse still continues. What is she doing wrong here?

    • 29 mtmarilyn
      March 23, 2025 at 11:15 am

I think it’s mainly because so many non democrats come. And the fact that caucus is really weird. I might have a hard time attending one. So glad we don’t have it in MT.

      • 30 57andfemale
        March 23, 2025 at 11:33 am

Caucuses are closed, I believe. At least the vast majority of them. Caucuses, which can take hours, appeal to the very motivated voter. That being said, I’m with amk on this: HRC should be better at getting her people to caucus.

          March 23, 2025 at 12:03 pm

I had heard they were open, but I do agree it’s not an excuse for her to be doing so badly. I just know it would be hard for me to go.

      March 23, 2025 at 11:22 am

I don’t think she’s doing anything wrong. It’s demographics. Her biggest constituencies are older women. They are loathe to go out at in the evening, wait in lines, in the rough and tumble of caucuses. Caucus voters are a tiny percentage of the electorate and they tend to be younger and more intense. After Sat. the caucuses are pretty much over, then we move to the mid-Atlantic states with closed primaries. She will roll up huge victories in Maryland, NY, PA, and New Jersey.

      • 33 57andfemale
        March 23, 2025 at 11:42 am

If she pulls 60% in any one of NY, PA or New Jersey, this is seriously game over. I’m looking to NY to end the BS narrative. Hey, I’m old, and I want to pivot to fighting whichever extreme loon the GOP nominates, and I want to devote a good deal of my energy to getting the odious Mark Kirk the hell out of the Senate here in IL. I am weary of fighting with Dems.

amk will be mad at me, but there is a good chance BS will do great in WI, although polling has it as a draw right now. It’s an open primary, so it’s flooded with indies & shenanigans.

WA will be interesting. Everyone, including the BS campaign, is expecting a huge win, and it’s a caucus. But once you get past the pundits who know zip, there are interesting factors. Global trade and business is extremely important in WA, and many think BS will be a disaster with his simplistic view and jackhammer approach. Some articles emerged about HRC’s surprise strong win in OH for that reason: OH has moved on from manufacturing being their only industry and have made 21st century adjustments to how to create jobs through global trade. It is infuriating that BS is so dim and disinterested in how important global trade is, not just for the economy but stable relations with foreign countries and regions.

Also caucus goers tend to be vocal, loud, passionate, and ideological purists.

      March 23, 2025 at 11:32 am

I read one comment from an active volunteer that Berniebros are making caucuses unpleasant so people are kind of afraid to go. Think about that when they complain about Bill Clinton.

      • 37 57andfemale
        March 23, 2025 at 11:44 am

They have been bullying at every caucus, from what I can tell. And since interpersonal engagement is part of the caucus process, this can escalate way too easily. Caucuses are not a good indicator of the electorate.

    Good Wednesday, Chipsticks…TOD Family!

The second of the 4-part series aired last night. However, it has not been downloaded to youtube yet except through a third party site where you will have to register in order to view it.

Here is the link if anyone is interested: http://youtube.com.channel.video.editor.watch.tivi.party/ikzD

    Synopsis:

With exclusive interviews from president Obama and his White House team, episode two tells the story of Obama’s greatest legacy: healthcare.

When Obama announced his proposals for affordable, accessible healthcare for every American, he sparked a bitter conflict. Within weeks of his launch, members of Congress were confronted by angry ‘Tea Party’ protesters.…

As opposition grew, Obama’s top advisers asked him to go for a less ambitious bill - he refused. His chief of staff knocked heads together inside his own party, as Democrats in Congress began to fight amongst themselves. The final battle was over abortion - the Catholic bishops tried to kill the bill. The hero who saved him was Sister Carol Keehan. She mobilized 59,000 US nuns and faced down the bishops to get Obama the votes he needed.

But in the midterm elections, Obama lost more seats in Congress than any president since 1938. The Tea Party now had 60 members and the Republicans would block all his future major reforms.
