    Congrats, MP! ….close second, Jacob:)

    Desi power😎

“Shortly after he was released from the jail, Reza Zarrab, at the heart of Turkey’s colossal bribery scandal, said in a live TV interview that he is prepared to stand a trial before an impartial court. It seems ‘his dream’ has finally come true. He was apprehended in Miami on Saturday and an Indian-born US attorney who is handling Zarrab’s case has rocketed to fame in Turkey. Exulting in Zarrab’s arrest, Turkish social media users had a field day mocking him and hailing the attorney. Preet Bharara, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, had only 8,010 followers before the Justice Department announced on Monday the arrest of Zarrab, a Turkish-Iranian businessman accused of evading US sanctions on Iran. The number of attorney’s followers on Twitter was skyrocketed to whopping 230,000 and it is rapidly increasing. His latest two tweets were shared nearly 60,000 times and liked by 85,000 people….Zarrab’s arrest brought into the open the dormant twin investigations that rattled Turkey for over two years. It was these two investigations that forced four ministers to resign, but also left Erdogan with no choice but to significantly escalate the crackdown on critics.

Bharara was lionized in Turkey largely because corruption suspects are deemed so “untouchable” that any prosecutor or police who go after them may lose their jobs or jailed and any journalist covering them may face prosecution or get fired. As the news came that Zarrab’s bail for release was rejected by the court, Turkish critics breathed a sigh of relief. Finally hope loomed large in the offing. Any idea where the prosecutors and police who jailed Zarrab are now? Of course, in jail…..Zarrab’s arrest came at a time when Turkish critics almost lost their entire hope that their country could get back on track anytime soon. With the arrest, their flagging spirits were instantly revived. Attorney Bharara is the only visible figure involved with the case of Zarrab, who is also accused of violating laws designed to ensure US national security. Zarrab’s arrest has placed Bharara at the forefront of a national debate on corruption. He was deluged with a type of love messages that only fans of Justin Bieber would post…continued…Bharara assumed mythic heroism in a country accustomed to prosecutors unable to stand firm in the face of a relentless government pressure. After the arrest, Bharara tweeted that Zarrab will face the American justice in a Manhattan courtroom. For many Turks, Bharara’s message still sounds more like a hope. Zarrab’s arrest could rekindle the widespread anger at the corrupt officials and help shatter the image that he could be innocent. But one thing is certain: Attorney Bharara is already a rock star and a hero for many Turks.”

“…But delegate math continued to favor rival Hillary Clinton as the campaign headed toward the Wisconsin primary on April 5 and the New York primary on April 19. The former secretary of State now leads Sanders among pledged delegates by 1,243 to 975, according to the Associated Press. When unpledged “superdelegates” are included, her lead stretches to 1,712 to 1,004. Needed for nomination: 2,383…continued”

The media is in the tank for Sec. Clinton😕

How long can Sanders keep up his optimism?

“…Although Sanders’s optimistic outcome is highly unlikely, he will probably still keep saying it until there are so few delegates left that it becomes impossible, even if he wins every single one. That won’t happen until the very end. On the last day of voting on June 7th, nearly 17% of all delegates will be determined, in California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, and South Dakota. As long as Sanders stays above 39.1% of pledged delegates, he can still say, technically speaking, that a last-minute win in June can put him over the top. Considering that he entered this race to get a message out, that’s probably what he will do.”

The reason that Hillary appears so little on network talk shows is that she chooses to do so. She generally avoids the press as much as possible, at least when they might ask her any hard questions. This woman, who attacked President Obama so viciously and with racial dog whistles in 2008, and is now the darling of this blog, has a great deal to hide and a great deal she doesn’t want to be asked about, including the many ways she abrogated her agreement with President Obama about her tenure in the State Department. Do you actually believe she wouldn’t appear on those shows if she asked to do so? I find the amnesia about her and the extreme hatred of Sanders on this blog, which I have come to for years for comfort and sanity, strange and disturbing. It really saddens me. Should Hillary become the president, given her hawkishness a thought that chills me, I think you would find her tone toward President Obama, whom it is politically expedient to embrace at the moment, would dramatically change. Her husband’s comment about “the awful legacy of the past eight years” is a foreshadowing of what is to come.

I never liked Sanders, even before he ran for office. He has always bashed the President. And now he bashes poc because we are not voting for him. The president accepted Hillary into his cabinet as SOS. There was a term that i saw on twitter yesterday. “Pragmatic Voter”. That is me. Hillary is the best chance for the Dems to kyeep the WH and to build on the legacy of the President. That is where i am.

Hillary does not do on the street while campaigning ambush interviews. Does sanders do such ambush interviews? And the fact that she has appeared in msm studio interviews shows she does not shun them, as you claim. Remember msm whined when donald dreck threatened not to do ass kissing studio interviews. So, they would have whined more if she had turned down their ‘interviews’. It is clear they do not want to give her any free press while they allow the racist to literally phone it in.

Yes, 2006-2008 hill-bill team did play some racial politics. But once PBO became the nominee, she became a team player, from heartfelt endorsement to serving as SoS. As SoS, she might had have policy differences with PBO but he always welcomed such opposing views. So bfd there either. As Giordano said, BS wants to convert “progressivism” into a gated white privileged community, screw the POC’s.

Now coming to saint sanders, he has never stood with the president, often whining in public about his pet unicorns not being not becoming policies without actually doing anything in the senate about it, which he continues to do to this day. Heck, he even wanted to primary a sitting successful president in a crucial election. Other than promising utopia to gullible people, both young and old, his policy chops are pretty thin when compared to Hillary.

And finally, Hillary has been a part of the democratic party, while BS is an opportunistic carpetbagger, who will go back being in an ‘indie’ once this is over.

Is Hillary the best we can have? No. Is Hillary better than Sanders? Yes, many times over.

So, screw him and his whining minions.

I tried to keep my comment civil. I find this reply remarkable. Clinton, as she always has done, is doing what is politically expedient. In 2014, when the President was less popular, she was criticizing him. Believe me, should she become President, you’ll see her criticizing him again. She has already made it clear that she will part company with him on Israel and Iran. I guess you’ll have to wait to be betrayed by her, as her friend Marion Wright Edelman was, when she pleaded with Bill Clinton not to sign welfare “reform,” as so many have been betrayed by the Clintons. And yes, President Obama reposed trust in her-she repayed him by breaking the agreements she made about Sidney Blumenthal, and Bill’s speaking fees, and the Clinton Foundation.

Bernie Sanders is a man of deep integrity who has stood by the President on many issues, and parted company with him, in a respectful manner, on issues of disagreement. He’s caucused with the Democrats throughout his many years in Congress, he was one of the most consistent allies of the Congressional Black Caucus, once even being called an associate member of the caucus. He’s fought for civil rights and justice all his life. He has a much more substantive and pragmatic legislative record than Clinton ever did.

As for ambush interviews, Sanders is very open to the press at all times. Clinton hasn’t given a press conference for months and she only grants interviews to people who will go easy on her. She is one of the most guarded candidates who has ever run for national office. It’s the people who are falling for her recent embrace of President Obama and her pretense of concern for anyone other than herself and her family who are gullible. I’m going to try not to read any comments here anymore. They really sadden me.

You all have supported a decent man in Barack Obama. I was proud to work for him in both elections. I’m proud to support Bernie Sanders, who like President Obama, is running for office because he actually cares about doing good. Transferring loyalty to someone as ethically challenged as Hillary Clinton is a huge mistake. I’m afraid you’ll discover too late what she’s really made of.

And one last thing….for now. I borrowed this from another blog:

“Why is it that EVERY endorsement that Bernie has racked up is a vocal Obama critic?”

See this? As a “proud” supporter of PBO, your choice is anathema to most all of PBO’s presidency !

Bernie Sanders is not a man of integrity. If he has such integrity why hasn’t any of the Congress people he works with for the last 35 years endorsed him. Also the people he has speaking for him bash this President constantly. We want to see his legacy expanded not torn down by a fake Democrat.

I think this might be entrism again. I hate that. I don’t think you can say that Hillary is ethically challenged and not be helping Karl Rove. That’s a right wing smear. No one but no one goes easy on Hillary Clinton. That’s ridiculous. Its Sanders that has not been vetted. The more I become familiar with him the more I dislike him. I think Barney Frank summed it up pretty nicely.

That’s not a correct interpretation of the comments by Bill Clinton. I think you would know that so I don’t take to heart your other remarks. Maybe instead of suggesting people here are mistaken you should take some wisdom from this site. Its a tough crowd and they don’t endorse easily. Bernie Sanders wanted to primary the President and has been undermining his accomplishments. Anyone that doesn’t endorse him is roadkill in his estimation. Dolores Huerta, John Lewis. Even Elizabeth Warren and Al Franken. They can’t all be wrong. I think you are unfortunately talking to people who know better and know concern trolling when they see it.

Along With President Obama, the 21st Century Visited Cuba: http://nyti.ms/1qa7AJR

“…The 30 years between Mr. Obama, 54, and Mr. Castro, 84, help explain the vast gulf that separates the two leaders, on vivid display last week as the American president made a historic visit to Cuba. Mr. Obama’s trip was calculated to highlight the generational contrast and appeal to a younger cohort both in Cuba and in the United States, presenting his vision for a thaw as the inevitable way of the future, and the hostility and isolation that came before as the stale remnant of another century. “He moved with this fluid, lanky, youthful movement, and that contrasted so strongly with Raúl and his stiff military bearing,” said Richard Feinberg, a senior fellow in the Latin America initiative at the Brookings Institution, who traveled to Cuba last week to witness the visit. “His speech constantly focused on generational shift, youth, the future, let’s put the past behind us,” Mr. Feinberg added. “A lot of these things didn’t have to be said — you had the visual representation that sent the message.” At a news conference last Monday at the Revolutionary Palace, Mr. Obama was confident and in his element as he addressed reporters and fielded questions, while Mr. Castro, unaccustomed to such an exchange and apparently irritated with his translation headset, showed his age. “The iconic image was Castro getting all huffy about some pretty anodyne critiques of the human rights situation in Cuba,” said Michael C. Desch, a political-science professor at the University of Notre Dame. “The gestalt of the visit for Obama was very much ‘I know you’re on your way out, and I’m going to speak to the Cuban population about what the future looks like after you.’” It was a message that Mr. Obama delivered visually as much as verbally. In Cuba, where two-thirds of the population is black or mixed-race — and Mr. Castro and the vast majority of his government are white — a mixed-race American president embodied possibilities that most Cubans consider out of reach…continued”

If you have a few minutes please take time to see this wonderful documentary on about humanity amidst the craziness re refugees:

“Every summer many European tourists travel to the Greek island Lesvos for a sunny holiday. This year thousands of refugees crossed the sea from Turkey and arrived on the island as well, looking for a safe haven in Europe. Filmmakers Philip Brink and Marieke van der Velden invited European tourists and Syrian refugees to talk to one another about life while sitting on a little bench overlooking the sea. The result is a short documentary in which the viewer wanders over the island and is made witness of conversations about war, fleeing, home, work, cars and pets. The Island of all Together is an ode to humanism and shows in a moving way what happens when we take the time to sit down and talk with each other instead of about each other.”

Trump’s newest dubious boast: ‘I do know my subject’
    03/28/16 08:40 AM
    By Steve Benen

Last week, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump had a fairly long conversation with the Washington Post, which tried to explore his views on foreign policy in detail. The discussion made it abundantly clear that the GOP candidate simply has no idea what he’s talking about. It’s not just that Trump’s arguments are wrong; it’s also that he seems lost when it comes to basic details.

On Friday afternoon, it was the New York Times’ turn. Alas, it appears efforts to teach Trump about international affairs aren’t going well.
In criticizing the Iran nuclear deal, he expressed particular outrage at how the roughly $150 billion released to Iran (by his estimate; the number is in dispute) was being spent. “Did you notice they’re buying from everybody but the United States?” he said.

Told that sanctions under United States law still bar most American companies from doing business with Iran, he said: “So, how stupid is that? We give them the money and we now say, ‘Go buy Airbus instead of Boeing,’ right?”

But Mr. Trump, who has been pushed to demonstrate a basic command of international affairs, insisted that voters should not doubt his foreign policy fluency. “I do know my subject,” he said.
It’s quite clear, of course, that he doesn’t know his subject. The full transcript has been posted online, and honestly, it’s hard to even know which parts to highlight – because so much of the interview is incoherent. Andrea Mitchell noted on “Meet the Press” yesterday that Trump “is completely uneducated about any part of the world.” The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg added on “Face the Nation” that it’s “remarkable to imagine that someone who shows so little interest in understanding why the world is organized the way it is organized is this close to the presidency of the world’s only superpower.”

Wisconsin’s ‘war on voting’ leads to real consequences
    03/25/16 04:39 PM
    By Steve Benen

Wisconsin’s April 5 primary is likely to be important for all kinds of electoral reasons, but the day will also be significant in terms of the voting process itself: it will be the first big test of the state’s ridiculous voter-ID law. Gov. Scott Walker (R) signed legislation to create the system in 2011, responding to a “voter fraud” scourge that did not exist, but following a series of legal disputes, this will be the first presidential election year in which the system is fully implemented.

    …………………………………………………..

It’s also not the only step backwards Wisconsin has taken on voting rights. MSNBC’s Zack Roth reported today:
A bill signed into law last week by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker could make it much harder for the poor and minorities to register to vote in the pivotal swing state just as the 2016 election approaches.

The Republican-backed measure allows Wisconsinites to register to vote online. But voting rights advocates say that step forward is massively outweighed by a provision in the bill whose effect will be to make it nearly impossible to conduct the kind of community voter registration drives that disproportionately help low-income and non-white Wisconsinites to register.
No other state, including states led entirely by Republican officials, has created a registration system that dismantled community-registration drives.
