But the campaigns he built were incredibly well thought-out and meticulous.

What surprised me on Tuesday was the number of white guys in work boots, tired faces, soiled, scarred hands, and grim lips voting in our precinct. The same has been reported by a friend living in FL, telling me that people she has never seen before coming out of the woodwork to vote. These people existed among us but were not seeing by us nor by the elected officials that are there to serve them. Therefore, when a demagogue comes along and promises them to make America great again, they all come out of under the rocks or from the hood to listen, cheer, and ultimately vote the demagogue into the most powerful office.
I hope he brings back all those manufacturing jobs they lost.

Ya know, you have to really think about just how much personality matters in these elections. For those of us who are so committed to policy, it is secondary. But we are NOT the majority of the electorate. The majority doesnāt have time to watch long speeches, read extended policy discussions, etc. etc. While Trump is repugnant to many of us, his personality won out with the voters he was targeting. Hillary doesnāt have that charisma that PBO does and could not attract a sufficiently large coalition to win the electoral college. We simply have not changed much since 2012 to see such an incredible discrepancy in these results. While the media never got it (because he too despises them) he was warm and welcoming and attractive and young appearing and on and on. I think it is easy to undermine this factor because no one would admit that this is the basis for their vote but I simply do not know what else to attribute the difference in results from 2012 to 2016.
