      It’s called doing what you gotta do. I think POTUS and VPOTUS should stay above the fray.

        yeah, people have to understand that PBO & VP can’t say anything else at this moment - no matter what their actual thoughts might be on this subject;

        the activism has to be done by we, the people

      They are too nice - the other mob don’t deserve a chance - dumb idiots. And the media didn’t give PBO a chance. Attacked him from day 1 expecting miracles.

    The other day when FLOTUS was talking about Jill Biden, I remember her saying that Jill was more then just her friend, she is family. That is how the Bidens and Obamas are, nothing fake or phony. I will never ever forget POTUS speaking at Beau Biden’s funeral.

    Well POTUS will pardon the turkey for the last time tomorrow. And Friday FLOTUS will accept the White House Christmas Tree for the last time. Next year the turkey will pardon the turkey.

      I do hope the First Daughters do, this time as young adults standing with their dad to support him as he signs off on this final, really silly activity! [😉 Plus, I’d really like to see them together again - it’s been a while, and they look so sweet together.]

    I always associate FDR’s Four Freedoms speech with Thanksgiving, because of the Norman Rockwell paintings! We still “look forward to” FDR’s choices ~ his words still apply to our vision today.

    “In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.

    The first is freedom of speech and expression — everywhere in the world.

    The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way — everywhere in the world.

    The third is freedom from want, which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants — everywhere in the world.

    The fourth is freedom from fear, which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor — anywhere in the world.

    That is no vision of a distant millennium. It is a definite basis for a kind of world attainable in our own time and generation. That kind of world is the very antithesis of the so-called ‘new order’ of tyranny which the dictators seek to create with the crash of a bomb.”

    GE/GM TODville.

    It’s Wednesday on the east coast, and less than an hour before it’s Wednesday in CST, which is when our beloved Carolyn is celebrating her birthday.

    A virtual something for Carolyn’s birthday — the fluffy-looking pastel flowers in the background are from a couple of 6-packs of Stock plants I picked up this weekend. They’re gorgeous shades of antique-pastel that I couldn’t resist. My favorite flowers are fragrant ones, and these have a wonderful fragrance, each shade with its unique scent. Also featured (L-R) are French lavender, habanero peppers and Lewisia elise (a cousin of Montana’s state flower, the Bitterroot).

    Though it has cooled off considerably (lows in the 40F range), our prolonged November heat wave seems to have convinced some of these plants think it’s Springtime in SoCal. #ClimateChange

    I don’t know when someone decided to use the phrase “White Working Class”.

    Was this one of those poll-tested phrases from some think tank?

    Its usage keeps nagging me because in my mind at least, there seems to be an underlying assumption that others are not working … as the stereotype claims some groups are “lazy” or “freeloaders”;

    may be I am overly-sensitive but that is my impression of that phrase;

  17. 30 jacquelineoboomer

    While we’re in a peace of mind segment of our day, may I share this again? Back in October on my 70th birthday, I happened to hear an ad on TV playing in the background … the wording seemed familiar, so I searched for it … it’s from Walt Whitman’s Song of the Open Road. The part that got me on my 70th - as an expression of how I was feeling, happy to have arrived, and that the sky was the limit, and isn’t that a riot? - was “the east and the west are mine; the north and the south are mine.” Turning my new age was giving me a sense of freedom that day, and that comes back each time I hear this! Every time it plays, I close my eyes, extend my arms, and have the sensation of feeling the sun on my face as I breathe in the ocean air. Or something. ❤ Ignore the Volvo part, please. @ 0.13 And goodnight, TODville.

    View story at Medium.com

    You may have read at NYMag that I’ve been in discussions with the Clinton campaign about whether it might wish to seek recounts in critical states. That article, which includes somebody else’s description of my views, incorrectly describes the reasons manually checking ballots is an essential security safeguard (and includes some incorrect numbers, to boot). Let me set the record straight about what I and other leading election security experts have actually been saying to the campaign and everyone else who’s willing to listen.

    It would be poetic justice for a Clinton win/referendum after Trump’s lazy winning lap around the office of president. I don’t want to be vindictive but he doesn’t deserve the job. Fitness to run should be a criteria.

    Multiple times i have commented here that with the prior claim of Russian hacking & “disappeared” or non- recorded votes for POTUS there was a need for an independent scientific examination of the votes & voting patterns for anomaly. Otherwise, suspicious actions may always be associated with the unexpected results
