Sometimes you get some TV shows that fill that void, but increasingly now, that’s splintered, too, so other than the Super Bowl, we don’t have a lot of common reference points. And you can argue that that’s part of the reason why our politics has gotten so polarized, is that—when I was growing up, if the president spoke to the country, there were three stations and every city had its own newspaper and they were going to cover that story. And that would last for a couple of weeks, people talking about what the president had talked about.

Each year at work we have a Christmas party, this year I won a go-pro camera, I really didn’t have a use for it because I’m not one of those guys that drives down the highway on a motorcycle one hundred miles per hour with a camera strapped to my head. Anyway I took the camera back to bestbuy where it was purchased and I got my wife an iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner. That’s what she wanted, so I wasn’t going to complain seeing as I do all the vacuuming. Maybe she’s trying to tell me someone, but like most men that have to do chores around the house we look at it as a win win situation when we don’t have to do chores around the house.
Yes that puts a big smile on my face, seeing my President and First Lady wishing all a Merry Christmas the last time as out President and First Lady. Merry Christmas to the Obamas and Thank you…Thank you…Thank you.
My three grandchildren, twins-age 2. and granddaughter age 5 in kindergarten remind me of how important it is that we all stick together to keep hope and love alive in our world.
Thank you, Judith, likewise for me. This season is all about the pre-eminence of hope and healing in the world, and that Love always has the last word. We must not forget that. The love we can bring forth in our lives is never lost.
