Called both my senators. Sen. McCain evidently has no one that can answer a phone working in his local office….his DC office allowed me to leave a message.
Senator Flake had a real person answer the phone that when I asked where the senator was leaning on this awful bill, told me that he was still reading the bill and had not weighed in yet. How PC. I gave him my thoughts and told him we would talk again tomorrow.
Same here. I have called Rubio routinely, but can’t reach anyone. Have only left message. I spend my time on Rubio because I know Nelson is going to vote our way. But I am still flustered by how these GOPers can just get away hurting so many people.
I worry about my clients, many of whom are Medicaid recipients and a good number are enrolled in the ACA. They come in fearful with questions about this whole thing. This is very stressful for them. Very disheartening to me.
I was able to get a message onto a machine in D.C. for Pat Toomey today. His local office’s machine is full.
Called Bob Casey in D.C. and was able to leave a message of support and thanks to him. I appreciate his voice of opposition.
Good for you, desertflower. A huge thank you to all of you who are calling your Senators in very red states. We have to keep trying so keep your heads up.
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who is taking over the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), said on Friday that he will not pursue any investigation into Russian interference into the 2016 election.
In making his case for dropping the probe, Gowdy said that he didn’t want to interfere with the work being done by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, and he suggested that the House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee were more natural fits to investigate the scandal.
Gowdy also ruled out looking into whether Trump White House adviser Jared Kushner’s security clearance should be revoked.
Just as well. He’s completely worthless anyway. But not doing anything about Kushner is pathetic. Not sure if House Intel is doing anything either…….anybody know?
At this point in time a security clearance is the lest of Kushner’s problems, when Mueller finishes with Kushner’s ass he’ll be lucky if he’s not in prison.
From all those years of inbred-white-robes-with-pointy-hoods ancestors. That’s why they don’t need hoods anymore, their heads just come out pointy.
Can’t believe the narrative today that the Democratic party has no message, has no leader, needs to dump Speaker Pelosi….blah, blah, blah…
Is it that hard to Democrats who get microphones put in their faces to remind people that it was the Democratic Party that fought to provide us all pre-existing condition protections, no charge for well visits, kids to stay on our health insurance until they’re 26, Medicaid expansion that has ALREADY saved many lives…Not One Republican Vote to provide all of that. Let’s talk about Social Security and Medicare. Which party was it that worked that out. Oh and how about Civil Rights, workers protections, Marriage equality, etc.
It seems after the horror of the first 5 months of FUBAR, Dems were unified against this #illegitimate “president.”
But now, Dem unity has gone out the window — have no idea why any of these people who support Dem policies are now eager to point fingers. The nation as a whole needs to come together to exercise our might against our real enemy, who has launched a full-scale cyberwar against this country and which won’t be contained with GOP traitors in control of our government. 😦
Story by Republican who opposed Obamacare and sided with Ryan — and then Obamacare saved his life:
“I took a new job and moved my family across the country—but due to a glitch, my employer was unable to offer health care coverage.
I lost my voice and ignored it for quite some time, thinking it was an allergy in our new climate. My voice never returned and I was having
difficulty breathing, so my wife made an appointment with the doctor. I was diagnosed with stage III, borderline stage IV vocal cord cancer,
and I had no health insurance. We offered cash upfront to pay for my treatments, but were denied over and over again.
We had always assumed that if you had money that you could get treatment. We were wrong—six weeks away from being dead wrong!
Yes, an insurance card is that important. It means the difference between living or dying … that little card.
Although I had cancer, Obamacare gave me access to an insurance card, and I began receiving life-saving treatments the day my insurance

This fight about ACA and the “election” of FUBAR is really shining a spotlight on just how awful the US version of capitalism is.
I think a lot of GOPers have the same misconception as this man did — that they could pay for medical treatment if needed — but as it turns out, somehow health insurers have American people over a barrel.
Have no idea how this happened, but it is just not morally right.
This is great news. July 4th is around the corner so hopefully McConnell will push a vote and lose badly with Republican Senators voting against Trump Care.
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave direct instructions to help elect President Donald Trump, report says https://t.co/RIqRbozhgT pic.twitter.com/lrMqGSeMIE
This should be a bombshell but given the short attention span of the MSM, this story will probably peter out in a few days. Trump and Republicans as a whole get away with simply denying that Russians interfered with our elections even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Trump is not a legitimate president and Democrats should be shouting this out every day instead of acting as if we are dealing with business as usual. We’re not.
I saw a poll yesterday that said 50% of Republicans do not even believe that Russia hacked our election or that Donald Trump had anything to do with it. FIFTY PERCENT. You can’t fix stupid, you just can’t. After being raised in Canada, this Senate bill is breaking my heart. I’ve been listening to the audio book of Senator Al Franken’s Lion of the Senate, and yesterday, while at the gym, in the last 2 chapters he talks about the stories of people who’ve been helped in some small way by legislation, and then goes on to be encouraging about how to fight back. I had just heard about the Senate bill and in listening to Sen Franken’s words, I just cried into my towel pretending to wipe sweat from my forehead, but couldn’t control myself for awhile, sobbing for all the people this bill will hurt. Indeed, what kind of character do we want our country to be?
Anyone watching RM this week, knows that she has been quite curious as to why Pence is fundraising for his PAC…thought maybe he was going to use it for his high priced lawyer….Nope. It’s for this….
AMERICA FIRST POLICIES, the pro-Trump/Pence outside group that Pence has been raising for, is preparing a seven-figure ad buy against HELLER
Sen. Heller confirmed that he is a Republican no vote on the health care bill, which means that the army of Trump and Pence super PACs are now going to come after him. The healthcare issue in the hands of an unstable and vindictive Trump administration is tearing the Republican Party apart.
The fact that a PAC that a sitting Vice President was just raising money for is going to attack a vulnerable incumbent member of their own party who is up for reelection next year because he won’t support a health care bill that is bad for the people of his state shows where the Republican Party is right now.
Trump and Pence are trying to make an example out of Heller to keep other Republicans in line. The White House isn’t showing leadership. They are using threats and gangland style intimidation tactics to scare members of their own party into line.

There are more women in the Senate than ever before. It’s a start, but that’s why it’s so important that we reelect my Democratic colleagues in 2018.
homegrown demagogue and gop have been pushing for this since WJC’s ill-advised actions;
then during his testimony, Director Comey mentioned that AG Lynch had told him to refer to the “HRC email investigation as a matter”. who knows if he wrote it in one of his memos;
I suspect that soon we will learn that some in the gop have requested this investigation;
the FBI is using this to try and appear non-partisan;

Hey Trump, you knew about Russia meddling into our election and not only have you done nothing, you have said over and over and over that you did not believe Russia interfered in our election. We are still looking for that 400 pound guy in his basement who you said could be responsible. You Trump said that you did not believe the people who work for our agency, you attack them and never said a bad word about Russia or Putin. You suppose to be President, what have you done? I am grateful to have been awake, and I’m grateful for all of you.
Morning,africa….good read. It’s what the rest of that WaPo article from yesterday SHOULD have said. Too much blame was placed on PBO, when it shouldn’t have been. IMO. This article shares my thoughts
AGREED. I see the MSM piling on PBO this morning, as if they didn’t stand in their own pens at his rallies and were spat upon and now banned from video and audio at the DPBs. What a bunch of cowards.
Maybe we should contact these media folks and voice our opinion. I plan to email that Senator from Nevada and thanking him for standing up for the elderly, the sick, the young, the disable.
BCRA asks someone at the poverty level to pay $200/yr for a plan with a $7500 ded. Under ACA they get either $200 ded CSR plan or Medicaid https://t.co/10LExhKgLH

You guys should have seen all those 20/20 hindsight warriors on twitter yesterday opining about what PBO should have done in the lead up to the last presidential election. Losers have one thing in common, they are always looking for a scapegoat.
I was reading yesterday that Bernie and his wife were in trouble because of some sort of financial malfeasance. And I said to myself I wonder if Bernie ended up in jail would he join one of the well established gangs or would he bad-mouth that gang and start his own prison gang.
in a way, most of the media and punditry are no different from the homegrown demagogue in that the mention of anything related to PBO makes them loose their marbles;
we know the drill by now :
step 1: story breaks criticizing PBO;
step 2: homegrown demagogue just sees the reference to PBO and he goes into a corner of how he and staff can demonize PBO - tweets, speeches, articles from Team Treason are circulated;
step 3: rightwing machine goes into a frenzy amplifying criticism of PBO;
step 4: gop elected officials are presented every on media pushing their PBO criticism and declaring investigations against PBO and his team and massive hysteria;
step: 5: a few cowardly Dems jump in to amplify the criticism of PBO before knowing the full facts;
step 6: finally, reason sets in, evidence is presented that supports PBO and his approach;
step 7: few in media correct the previously wrong or under-informed criticism of PBO and the new evidence is not presented;
step 8 : most people pretend they never participated and move on to the new controversy …..
Step 5 is the one that irritates me the most, its always a few cowardly Dems that turn on PBO at the drop of a hat. I can deal with all the other steps but step 5 is so unnecessary.
Yep, he was on twitter yesterday saying that President Obama’s response to Russia was weak. I twitted back to him that he’s probably going to ask President Obama to campaign for him in the next election cycle and that I was going to remind him of his attack on President Obama.
He comes to my school to speak to my students sometimes so he’ll probably visit soon and I plan to ask him why he went that route. He has been great on Trump, by why need to go the route the GOP goes and vilify PBO as well I need to know. Very disappointed about that.
I really wonder how students are affected by what’s going on now, would be interested to hear from teachers on how FUBAR/traitor, worst role model in the world is affecting them.
BTW, a few years ago you asked about camping in CA, and I mentioned El Dorado National Forest (which is about 25 miles SW of Reno) — the best wildflowers in CA, which usually peak in July (second or third week, IIRC). With all the blessed rain and snowpack this Winter, don’t know how that’s affecting their bloom cycle this year.
It’s a high elevation, between 9-10K feet (speaking for myself, I feel the effects of sparse oxygen at about 10K feet), with hiking trails, public campgrounds (across from the hiking trails) and a lodge (Kirkwood Lodge) for those who don’t want to camp.
Thanks for the tip; We can’t go this summer, but hopefully next summer. Many of my students were super depressed that DJT is president; Many were very happy; the boys were more affected outwardly. By the end of school, many of the happy boys, were making fun of Trump; knew he was lying a lot; called him orange crush. I asked them to stop and respect the presidency even if they didn’t like him (trying to preserve some respect for our institutions and government and rule of law) and they stopped talking about him mostly. I had them celebrating diversity and immigration at the end (talked a lot about liberty and equality and appreciation for our similarities despite difference in cultures). It went well.

by the way, are my eyes deceiving me or has the homegrown demagogue appear to have lost some bit of body weight …. maybe my eyes are lying to me
Came across this, and it’s only 12 seconds, but he looks as tubby as ever to me.

Can’t bear the sight or sound of FUBAR, so can’t respond to any of your observations, except for c):

Wow!! What will they do without Lyle?
PSA ahead!!
If you come across a retail store or site that asks if you want to make a donation to help feel hungry kids, please consider doing so if you can spare a few dollars. It’s goes to helping feed children in your local community who are on recess from the regular school year where they get nourishment. My local grocery just automatically added $10 to my tab when I replied yes and it goes directly to a local food bank focused on these needy children.
Thank you!
Thanks, meta. I was looking into something like that in my area yesterday.
On Rachel Madow…If this is so secret why is it being reported.
Some of these details reported by the Washington Post should not be disclosed
Agreed.
That’s what I thought too.
Hey I’m Mitch McConnell, a racists redneck bigot who never like the fact that a black man became President of our racists bigots United States.
Racist gone wild
Absolutely perfect response to our clueless man-child president. Well done, Bob!
Many thanks, Nath. I hope all is well for you and your family. Has your daughter completed her graduate studies?
#TrustBarack …. Always ….
Hello Bob. The family is doing well, thank you for asking. I hope you and your family are well. My daughter is still working on her dissertation. She hopes to complete it by December.
Great news that you are all well, Nath. Please wish your daughter my best wishes for a successful dissertation defense.
According to former FBI Comey in nine meetings with him you never brought the subject up.Now you stupid ass base will eat your B.S. up, but not all will fall for it.
Well stated, bella!
Thank you Bobfr.
Goodnight TOD ….

good morning everyone!
have a great day!
there is no place that homegrown demagogue and republicans will not go try and undermine individuals and groups of people they consider “the other”;
each day you learn about so many points of destruction that it makes :-
(a) it hard not to get all kinds of negative feelings towards the gop and those who enabled them to get into office;
(b) clear that people of conscience have to do everything in their power to get these scumbags out of office very soon;
(c) one understand that the next democratic president will have a significant amount of repairs and rebuilding to do in so many areas;
I hope those with the ability to do so are cataloguing the damage and getting drafts of policies and actions ready to do start repairing the damage;

I think one of my posts got eaten….it was an important one, too 😦
Of course he did. No one has ever EVER been as suited to take on the massive task of leadership as Barack Hussein Obama. I truly doubt any other will ever match his caliber. We are blessed he chose us, in this day and age. I’m sorry for all who refuse to to see, who stubbornly choose to miss the opportunity we have been given to walk with this man, and his brilliant compassionate partner in all things, Michelle. I am grateful to have been awake, and I’m grateful for all of you.
Morning,africa….good read. It’s what the rest of that WaPo article from yesterday SHOULD have said. Too much blame was placed on PBO, when it shouldn’t have been. IMO. This article shares my thoughts
Fierce Warrior
EXCELLENT thread from BWD:
Trump and the GOP blame Obama for everything.
GM Meta.
Good thread by BWD, but IMHO doesn’t go far enough.
MSM are complicit in this assault on American democracy.
Where’s the reporting on this?
And for all their whining about WHPB not “allowing” cameras…
Is Always in Jail, BWD? I know she was unfairly suspended, so how did you know this was her? So glad to have her back.
She tweeted me to follow her! Then she DM’d me and asked me to tell others it was her.
I am so glad she did. I immediately followed her; will send her a dm now that I know it’s her.
Do you want to eat, or die?
Yes.
Sanity Break:)
Chilling.

GM Meta and TOD, I vacated the shows yesterday, precisely for that reason. I did not want to hear any piling on of PBO.
GM, COS. They never cease to put every last burden on PBO’s shoulders. Thank goodness he is as strong and healthy and ego-balanced as he is.
You guys should have seen all those 20/20 hindsight warriors on twitter yesterday opining about what PBO should have done in the lead up to the last presidential election. Losers have one thing in common, they are always looking for a scapegoat.
JHC
Wouldn’t it just be the sweetest irony if Sanders gets caught up in BANK FRAUD??? Karma comes at you fast!!
I was reading yesterday that Bernie and his wife were in trouble because of some sort of financial malfeasance. And I said to myself I wonder if Bernie ended up in jail would he join one of the well established gangs or would he bad-mouth that gang and start his own prison gang.
LOLz, gives a whole new meaning to “Our Revolution.”
This is the only political website that I can visit and my blood pressure doesn’t rise. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Thanks, Don, great endorsement for this wonderful site and our family here.
When I read articles like this, makes me yearn for our Chips and O’Danny…
From last weekend:
Such a gorgeous gift.
Miss Chips! Hope she is OK.
WORD
in a way, most of the media and punditry are no different from the homegrown demagogue in that the mention of anything related to PBO makes them loose their marbles;
we know the drill by now :
step 1: story breaks criticizing PBO;
step 2: homegrown demagogue just sees the reference to PBO and he goes into a corner of how he and staff can demonize PBO - tweets, speeches, articles from Team Treason are circulated;
step 3: rightwing machine goes into a frenzy amplifying criticism of PBO;
step 4: gop elected officials are presented every on media pushing their PBO criticism and declaring investigations against PBO and his team and massive hysteria;
step: 5: a few cowardly Dems jump in to amplify the criticism of PBO before knowing the full facts;
step 6: finally, reason sets in, evidence is presented that supports PBO and his approach;
step 7: few in media correct the previously wrong or under-informed criticism of PBO and the new evidence is not presented;
step 8 : most people pretend they never participated and move on to the new controversy …..
step 9: repeat previous steps
Step 5 is the one that irritates me the most, its always a few cowardly Dems that turn on PBO at the drop of a hat. I can deal with all the other steps but step 5 is so unnecessary.
My congressman, Ted Lieu, is one of them. I told him I was very disappointed in him for choosing that route. Sad.
Betsy, I have no idea why some Democrats have this strange fetish where they have to bad-mouth President Obama.
Me either and since I love Obama and everything he’s done, I find it hurtful.
GM Betsy.
Just FYI…
