Good evening TOD! Stayed away from social media today with DT back in TX. Apparently, he suddenly has succeeded as consoler in chief by awkwardly picking up a child. The bar at this point is below ground. There is something seriously wrong with this man based on the statements I saw.
But tomorrow will be a good day! North TX is opening a number of shelters for Harvey evacuees, primarily from Port Arthur and Beaumont which remain badly flooded and one without city water. A group is working to put together welcome bags with toiletries and basic necessities So I will spend some time sorting donations and making up bags. It’s tiny in the overall scheme of things but it will feel good to physically do something beyond giving money. For so many of us the worst thing is feeling so helpless in the face of such devastation.
For those in CA and MT, stay safe and I hope they get the fires under control. So much tragedy.

DT is the classic abuser, always go after the victim first. His harshest criticism is of ROK who has to live next door to the world’s other crazy, instead of NK.
While a very nice and thoughtful letter, I think it sounds fairly restrained - maybe even somewhat perfunctory - when compared to the deeply moving writings to which we’ve been treated in the past from our President. I’m wondering if he just felt Trump wasn’t worth the effort. Just my opinion.

PBO is the smartest man we all know, and he knew full well when he wrote this that it would be made public rather than kept in confidence. Accordingly, he hit the points most important to him rather than to DT. And of course, 7 months later he now looks prescient although we all should have known what was coming.
