But that acknowledgment doesn’t change the fact that we must develop a societal strategy for protecting the true in a post-truth world, and the first step is that we must never stop saying: Donald Trump is a liar.

I came from a family of union members; father a union rep. (trucking) and I was a member of a teacher’s union my entire career. Duty free lunch, planning period, smaller class sizes (though state found away around this), paid leave to attend professional national workshops, salary and benefit packages and more came to us via union negotiations. Getting rid of unions, especially those affiliated with AFL-CIO, is a rethug wet dream. We ARE better and stronger together.

I am, and have always been, a union member (well, after my university student years), and know what’s it’s like to have a group standing with you - even during strike periods. The Idiot President is my first experience with unmitigated evil so close and so transparent. I shudder to look at him and am more than appalled to see how easily he floats from one evil to the next in what seems like an unstoppable manner.
You are so right, CEB. I’m in a teacher’s union here in CA and our board doesn’t want to give us any increase nor give us our second year at 5% which was negotiated 2 years ago for a 2 year contract. Now they refuse to give it to us retroactively unless we sign a 2 year contract for no increase at all. So we are working w/o a contract and protesting to the board this Wednesday. It boggles my mind at how much the school board hates to pay its teachers. Thank God for our union.

Had the pleasure of going to a women’s folk art workshop where my daughter and other women in south Seattle’s immigrant-rich neighborhoods are working on a “Let’s Touch” exhibit of pieces based on images from the Women’s March in Seattle, D.C. and other cities. It is starting to take shape.
Love this; would like to see photos of other art works that they produce. Thanks, Judith.
The show will go up for the month of October, and I will ask my daughter to send photos. It is intended for visually impaired people and others to be able to SEE the artwork through TOUCH. They are making their pieces very tactile.
