Thanks for posting that Reuters article about Russians targeting 21 states’ voter registration systems. Good article — I’ve seen a lot of articles about intrusions into voter registration files recently, and many come up short (IMHO) — so many seem to take the Intercept’s article (in June, IIRC) as gospel (don’t trust the Intercept as far as I can throw them), and many don’t address the root cause of our voter registration file vulnerability, which is 2002’s “Help America Vote Act,” signed into law by GWB in October 2002. This law *requires* states to maintain an interactive electronic voter database (doesn’t mean that it needs to be accessible on the internet, but apparently the internet is the tool that VENDORS use to compile and maintain these databases), and from what I can see, it’s not easy to find out the vendor(s) that each state uses to comply with this federal law.
My hunch (and it’s just a hunch, am still researching this…) is that vendors and shady Secretaries of State are using this law to line their own pockets (or in the case of Secretaries of State, to line their campaign coffers).

Every now and then (mostly several times a day every single day), we’ve got to take a deep breath and focus on something or someone who brings us joy and peace.
Today I woke up to read Trump’s tweet on North Korea and I felt deeply frightened. Every day he shows his desire for nuclear war is getting stronger, which has been a long held fascination for him. He is a complete lunatic and I DO NOT feel safe.

I’ve watched US Football since 1973, forced then……..My dad watched. I became a fan on my own in 1978. I have watched dutifully until 3 yrs ago. I hardly watch today. Since my early 20s, I have seen Players stand up during National Anthem. So, this claim to 2009 sounds Fishy to me.

Making this even more interesting is the fact that “The Star-Spangled Banner” — which borrowed its difficult melody from a “To Anacreon in Heaven,” a British song about boozing and womanizing — wasn’t adopted as the official national anthem of the U.S. until 1931….
Let’s face it. Playing the national anthem before a sports event is a grand old tradition. But for many fans, so is dissing the song.
And most people — at least those who don’t write sports columns for a living — don’t seem to care how other fans react to the tune.
Until, that is, someone famous is perceived to denigrate it. Then, to some, not honoring the song becomes an affront….
