I agree about the safety of the country. Lots of thoughts these days as GOP are interviewed on their opinions. I see no ownership of their failed policies (great recession, war in Iraq, deficits when in power, stoking hatred and fear between American citizens, lying about everything continuously and a lust for total power and control over their fellow Americans, greed and cruel dishonor.) Not one word about any of this but theyâll point at Trump as if he arrived in a vacuum and disown him. They have not arrived at a point of truth and reconciliation for what they have done.

Personally, there would be NO reason for me to want to participate in a 45 photo-op.

Who knows what is the truth about his presence there. It was customer complaints and the possibility of losing business that made him speak out and his excuse is lame. You would have to be under a rock not to know how the majority of people feel about 45 and that he has lied and done harm since he has been in office. This is a time in which everyone has to pick a side and deal with whatever the consequences are.

Thinking about Chips and Cousin Henry; seems like Ophelia hit the Irish republic the hardest. Three reported dead and over 300,000 without power. Downed trees chocking up the rail lines all around Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The worst hurricane in over 100 years. I did not even know that this part of the world was subject to such. I know that at least the UK will concern itself with the safety and well-being of its citizens without first counting the cost.

…bipartisan Senate talks …could include appropriations to cover the CSRs along with some deregulatory features that Republicans want. A deal would put pressure on Republicans to accept it, and itâs plausible Trump will feel pressure to sign it if it can pass Congress…
But even if that happens, it may be too late to make a big difference to the coming enrollment period. Bottom line: The rot of bad faith and sheer malevolence at the core of Trumpâs claim that Obamacare is already âgoneâ need to be fully appreciated. Trump is not only rolling back the last administrationâs efforts to reach the uninsured; he is also telling the United States that a government program that is up and running and designed to help people get health coverage they canât afford no longer exists.

When all of this is over, and we have saved and improved healthcare, Andy Slavitt should get a Medal of Freedom. When PBO was holding one of those young leaders conferences near the end of his term, one of the audience members asked what he thought was his best skill (or some words to that effect) and he said that it was his ability to see talent in others and to nourish it. Long after former staffers have usually gone on with their lives, looking for the next opportunity to burnish their resumes, PBOâs young and energetic staffers are in the muddy trenches slugging it out with this detestable government to keep them from destroying the rest of us. They are direct, talented, know how to think and plan out of the box, and they are fierce. They gave up much of their own lives for 4-8 years, working hard to do things right in the right way to not let their Boss and the rest of us down and they fight, in part, to make sure that all of that work was not in vain. PBOâs legacy is everyone who stands a little taller, ventures out a bit more, and cares deeper. It is everyone who reaches back and pulls others up so that we all stand equally together.
Thanks for reminding of this CEB. I am continually impressed with the ongoing work of these former staffers. And I am thrilled that a number of them are running for various offices. The country is and will continue to be better because of their efforts.
