Ex-Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, known for hard-line views on illegal immigration and pardoned by Trump, announces run for Senate
“I am running for the U.S. Senate from the Great State of Arizona, for one unwavering reason: to support the agenda and policies of President Donald Trump in his mission to Make America Great Again,” he said on Twitter. He is running in this year’s Republican primary to replace Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) — a critic of Trump who is retiring.
Trump pardoned Arpaio, 85, in August, less than a month after Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt for ignoring a federal judge’s order to stop detaining people because he merely suspected them of being undocumented immigrants.
The news of Arpaio’s decision was first reported by The Washington Examiner.
I hope Arizonians (if that is an actual word ☺) will send PP’s man Arpaio scuttling back into whichever hole he crawled out from.
