Happy Birthday to my favorite President, and I have been alive since FDR was president. Just seeing these pictures makes my heart jump for joy. I am reminded of something my husband said just a week before he passed away. He had reached the point where his grasp of life was somewhat tenuous as he slowly slipped away. I was alone with him and he suddenly looked up, opened his eyes, and said: “My doll, is President Obama still president of the United States?” I proudly and happily answered, “Yes he is.” He smiled, sighed happily, and went back to sleep. He was able to die happy, and I am so glad. We saw him as he began his campaign in February 2007, and we never forgot that day. What he said then, he continued to say. He was consistent and thoughtful. I will always be thankful that I was alive during his amazing presidency.
