apologies, but….

….I know, I shouldn’t waste blog space by mentioning the half-termer from Alaska, but I had to share this nugget from Media Matters:

You know the ‘creature’ has been spewing her bile all over Michelle Obama for her support of women who choose to breastfeed?

Ready for this?

2007:

Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, has issued the following proclamation:

….breastfeeding is recognized as an unequalled means of providing food for infants …. throughout their lives, breastfeeding can offer children protection against serious health conditions …. breastfeeding forms the most basic bond between mother and baby and is a foundation for lifelong health and wellness … government and community organizations have a vested interest in protecting and promoting breastfeeding as a means of preventing infant malnutrition, morbidity, and mortality …

….during October, organizations throughout our state will promote the importance of breastfeeding. This year, in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week – October 1 through October 7 – the State of Alaska will support networks that encourage and promote breastfeeding in all communities.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Palin, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim October 2007 as:

Breastfeeding Awareness Month

Warning: this video features the half-termer:

Oh boy. Crawl back under your rock, you worthless piece of slime ;-)

‘us consumer spending best in three years’

BBC: Consumer spending in the US grew at its fastest pace in three years during 2010, official figures have shown.

Spending grew by 3.5% from 2009 the Commerce Department said, the best showing since a 5.2% rise in 2007 – before the country went into recession.

The 2010 levels were helped by a strong December, where spending grew by 0.7%, the sixth consecutive month of growth.

Consumer spending makes up more than two-thirds of activity in the US, the world’s largest economy.

….Economists expect that spending and savings will be boosted further in 2011, if the job market continues to slowly improve and with a cut in payroll tax.

…Last week, figures showed that US economic growth accelerated in the last three months of 2010 to an annualised rate of 3.2%, up from a rate of 2.6% in the previous quarter.
