“I think he had made a practice of trying to apologize for America. I personally am proud of America.”
-Former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Feb. 20, 2011
“I will not and I will never apologize for America. I don’t apologize for America, because I believe in America.”
-Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (author of “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness”), Feb. 11, 2011
“Mr. President, stop apologizing for our country.”
-Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, Feb. 11, 2011
Washington Post: The Fact Checker senses a campaign theme emerging: Obama the apologist. As the above quotes illustrate, it is an article of faith among top Republicans that President Obama has repeatedly apologized for the United States and its behavior. Even more, the argument goes, he does not believe in American strength and greatness. The assertion feeds into a subterranean narrative that Obama, with his exotic, mixed-race background, is not really American in the first place.
.. Let’s look at the evidence - See ‘The Facts’ here
….The claim that Obama repeatedly has apologized for the United States is not borne out by the facts, especially if his full quotes are viewed in context …. in other cases, Obama’s quotes have been selectively trimmed for political purposes …. Republicans may certainly disagree with Obama’s handling of foreign policy or particular policies he has pursued, but they should not invent a storyline that does not appear to exist.
Note to GOP speechwriters and campaign ad makers: The apology tour never happened.

Republicans are good at getting things to stick, especially lies.
Who published Rumsfeld’s lies? We should call or write them and tell them we will no longer buy anything they publish. He should be up under a jail for his war crimes. Oh, and maybe we should push for an investigation of his actions.
Sentinel, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA). Amazon is selling it for about $18, from $36. He’s in fantasyland.
Reaching the true end of my patience with these lying pieces of garbage……it’s got to stop!!
They can whine and lie all they want, but we aint buying whatever they are peddling.
If there’s any apologizing going on, it’s for the havoc that these Republicans have wrought across the world. The likes of Rumsfeld, the weak spine of Romney (and the damage he could do as a result of his weak spine), the ideological fervor and racism of Pawlenty - all of those things deserve apologies. Americans can’t be that stupid as to fall for these lies, in the face of reality being witnessed in Wisconsin. Republicans mean to do harm - that’s it.
oh yes they are! look at the last election. that was also a vote against our POTus.
I think that it’s the Republicans who need to be apologizing to the American public for fear-mongering, lying and deceitful actions that they have taken that have led to PBO having so many things to deal with in order to fix this economy and the American face in the world.
Look at the God damn orange fool on the far left who’s 3rd in line to the American presidency. *Shutters in disgust*
Agreed!
Posted to my Facebook page. This is another example of how despicable and corrupt today’s rw is.
His political correctness in dealing with other heads of states is one of the things I most admire about our president.
Barack Obama is a man who respects others. So he does not “like” the Saudi King, but our president is correct in his manners.
As to statements he has made I totally disagree. The idea that we are number one in the world is ridiculous. The president understand diplomacy. One should not go around bragging all the time that we are better than other countries. He is a smart cookie.
For the Republicans it is all propaganda, all the time!!! So much propaganda, so little time. That’s all they’ve got. Mindless, petty gossipy stuff that has nothing to do with getting our country and the world moving in the right direction. They SUCK!!!
Though it can be unfortunate among uninformed voters, their very consistency of message is sometimes pathetic! Each cycle that they come out voicing the same insincere wording reveals there is little clear thinking among them all(I include Faux Noise). It’s not just the lack of a true message, it’s also the obvious fact that they are parroting it. Their only value is that they are always in sync - something the Dems need a little of! Not that I want the Dems to copy their repeat-the-same-words meme. Instead I want THEM TO SHOW LOYALTY TO THEIR LEADER WITH INTELLIGENT ARGUMENTS!!
