Chipsticks, I viewed the Maddow video with smooth sailing, but the other video’s today have been buffering so badly that I give up.😦
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
Good night and pleasant dreams😀
Oh yikes, sorry to hear that GGail, did you have a problem with all the videos, including ones from YouTube?
I had problems with videos all day here as well. Exercise in patience…thought it was my connection.
Yup. It was maddening Chipsticks. However, I just viewed the VP Biden video and no problem.
Right now I still harbor a lot of resentment to Maddow at the way she’s treated Obama recently with that hit job about claiming Obama’s a huge hawk.
For that and other things she’s said (since election night ’08, I might add), I’m with you! If I even turn on her show, I listen for the first few words to see her tone and if it’s Obama-bashing, I’m outta there.
I can’t even watch her pompous commercials – I mute them. After her lies and no apology, I washed my hands of her. She’s a person of poor character.
Good night all.
Commerce secretary Bryson confirmed by Senate!
After a five-month delay, held hostage by the 3 recently approved trade agreements. Damn Republicans!
Also, Judge dismissed War Powers Act suit that Congress slapped on the President.
Thank you, Jovie.
painful night for kucinich & greenwald . Can’t sleep on their haunches tonight.
Hope they can’t sleep at all for several nights, the bums.
Today had both ups (Libya celebrates) and downs.(not enough caring patriots in Senate). Looking forwards to a better tomorrow. Good night and sweet dreams, everyone.
I love that! “You’ll stay married that way.”
What a week for the First Family. How do they manage?
Video- the Vice President files paperwork for NH primary today:
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $6.6 million in September — almost twice the $3.8 million brought in by the National Republican Congressional Committee. The blow to Republicans was made harsher by the fact that the GOP has control of the House, giving them a leg up on fundraising.
But the NRCC has less debt — $1.5 million to the DCCC’s $2 million — and a larger war chest. The NRCC has stored up $12.2 million, compared to just $9.5 million for the DCCC.
I fully believe the DCCC would be even richer, if their members would be more out front in their support of the President’s agenda! Plus, some of their fundraising emails are signed by people like James Carville, etc. Big turn-off.
Jacqueline, I totally agree. I see Carville’s name and walk right to the trash can. I’m much more receptive to appeals from Pelosi and Steve Israel, although, with limited funds, I put everything I can toward Obama/Biden 2012.
I responded to an email sent by the DCCC by saying if they are serious about support and specifically my support, they should stop sending emails with Carville’s name on them…he’s despicable and should be kicked right over to the Tea Party where he really wants to be anyway.
i agree. He,s a DINO that sleeps with the enemy.
War chests represent “past” support. What they raise reflects current current support so the greater haul for the Dems is good. If House Dems started working together and expressed support for the president and spoke in every possible venue about Republican obstructionism and the need for jobs, I’ll be their numbers would jump. Fortunately, Steve Israel seem to be doing a good job recruiting candidates for 2012. And DWS says we’re not conceding any area of the country. Good for her.
Right on Jackie. They never learn. Creigh Deeds in Virginia bragging on being the anti Obama candidate. Got crushed. Midterms when so many Blue Dogs ran away from The President. Got crushed. At some point you have to stop betting against your own guy when he’s winning on a consistent basis.
I am giving 13 month support to Speaker Pelosi (DCC) in the elections of 60 new Democrats in the House for the 2012 elections. Hopefully, most of the 60 will be good Congress men and women.
Chipsticks, you are on FIRE today!
Pryor is Upset because FEMA is trying to get back money from an Arkansas family that they overpaid!
He is fucking freaking out, blocking 20 treasury nominees and now voting no on the jobs act.
He is losing it.
FEMA is just doing it’s job!
Jovie, You have got to be kidding. Americans are out there suffering and he is playing petty politics like this. I have suspected that the republicans have gone dam crazy, has it spread over to the Democrats too?
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton stepped up the rhetorical pressure on Pakistan Thursday, warning Pakistani officials that there would be a “very big price” if they do not take action against militant groups staging attacks in Afghanistan.
Clinton’s tougher tone was reinforced by a highly unusual delegation of five top-ranking U.S. officials who traveled to Islama bad to demand aggressive action against the Haqqani network, a Pakistan-based Afghan militant group blamed for the assassinations of Afghan leaders and a high-profileattack last month on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
You know what I’d like to know? I’d be interested in knowing what states that people that post here are from…if we had 50 people for all 50 states, we could blanket the newspapers, and local blogs from every state…with FACTS about what these traitor Republicans are doing to our country. Is that an impossible request? Am I naive to think that this can be accomplished? The fact that this Jobs Bill got shot down….a sliver of the entire package that would help so many necessary public service jobs…is beyond my comprehension. I do NOT trust the MSM to report this truthfully or without spin.We could do this…I know we could.Thoughts???
Good idea – I’m in Southern California.
Where in Southern Clifornia. Theo? I am in Southern California too-San Diego.
Great! You guys could divvy up the load! nathkatun….how’s San Diego? I miss it. Used to live in Coronado when my husband was stationed at North Island. Little slice of paradise:)
I’m in Marina Del Rey – LA.
I’m also in Southern California, south of LAX, near San Pedro.
ok, Betsy….you know what to do! Thank you SO much!!!!
I live in Illinois.
Wonder if Chips could collect the data…or Linda over at WhatisWorking….then we can make a plan of action to write LTE’s, be active on local blogs, local TV station blogs etc….if we have people in N. Calif…..and some in SoCal…that’s perfect….you guys get the drift:)
I just figure that if you want something DONE RIGHT, you got to do it yourself! Lord knows our media won’t do it….
So glad you both think the idea is doable and I’m not nuts! Thanks, theo and jacqueline…if you both want to mention this tomorrow…that would be great…:)
I’m down. I am in Los Angeles. Also have family in Northern California as well as on the East Coast who I could enlist to to saturate their respective markets as well.
Fabulous!!!!! We have such a great community of passionate people here that could get this done…I know we can! thank you so much PurpleShoesLA:)
Wow, desertflower! I think you just came up with an organizing idea for 2012. We have to take full responsibility for the 2012 Election. Now, in my opinion, our efforts will not be just for President Obama and the First Family. Although, there is no doubt that this First Family is the “real deal” for America. Just writing this email is causing me to tear up. Our efforts are really for us. President Obama and the First Family will be fine despite the outcome of the election. WE will be the losers, if we do not re-elect our POTUS!!! Reading “Dreams From My Father,” and information about the President’s Mom has so revealed how deeply our President loves our nation. One of the many examples of this love of country is in the President’s Mom explaining to him how our founding documents give him/us rights that people around the world do not have. It is clear that President Obama developed a deep love of country from the teachings of his Mom. This just warms my heart.
Okay, okay–back to organizing for US. We need to keep President Obama in the White House, and we need a total Democratic Congress. The republican party wants to destroy our nation!!! So, what we need to do here at TOD, is to share this wonderful place with everyone we love and respect. We also need to explain to everyone we know how important it is to re-elect President Obama. One way to do this is to make sure everyone who supports the President VOTES in 2012. We all have some time to figure out the best way to do this individually, but we do need to think of how to put our support into action. Having representatives of TOD in each state is absolutely the first organizing step. I’m in DC. I currently phone bank at the DNC headquarters with OFA, 2X a month when they have the phone banks. I canvas-door-to-door, in VA and NC (I’m retired). But, as far as influencing congress–they (republicans) ignore DC residents. They always ask for my zip code, and then you can hear the change in their responses to my requests for support on issues. So, I take to the streets to try to throw my body at them.
Again, Chipsticks!!! Thank you, for providing this community for us, from the bottom of my heart.
I am happy to help making lists of names by area. Just let me know what you need.
Chicago and Calumet City is covered.
Indianapolis, Indiana here. We’ve got the lousy republican rag The Indy Star.
Morning. Proud:) We have the “rag of rags…The Arizona Republic” It’s all good…you can sstill write a LTE, or put the truth out there on local blogs and TV station sites….one town at a time! My dear friend lives in Indianapolis..we went to high school and college together at Ohio State…so I KNOW there are SOME decent folks around:)
Sorry, yardarm…I missed this:( I know you’ll get it done! Many, many thanks:)
Count me in….I’m in Chicago
Thanks, Scott! You know what to do:) We’ll have our own little army of truth!
Great! Pennsylvania here — Philly ‘burbs
Also Pennsylvania in the infamous “T” between Hershey and Lebanon.
Hey, Jackie…then you can compliment Alycee who has urban Philly area…PA is a HUGE state, so there is lots of ground to cover! Many, many thanks:)
Yea!!! Thank you so much, Alycee:) Help spread the truth from now until election day!
Louisville, Kentucky here. One of the blue oases in a culturally red state. My congressman is Democrat John Yarmuth. We have a blue dog Democratic governor who is headed for re-election next month. But our doom is the two worst Senators you could ever be cursed with, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul.
Another tough job, but we can do it! We all need to do our part to counter the lies, half truths, and smears that are put out there daily…we have such a great base of knowledge and facts here…let’s all really use it to be the change we want to see!!! Thank you, tnmtngirl!
ZiZi….OMG. YOU are a saint! I’m in Arizona, so I feel your pain. But people like us, have an especially important job to do…I know you know that. Kentucky deserves better. I have been there before. Wonderful people, but so many are poor, depend on the govt to help them through these times, yet their senators feel such hatred for this President that they have no qualms about throwing the people they are sworn to represent, under the bus…that, and they have all taken an oath to one man, NEVER to raise taxes. The people need to know who’s on their side. Their very lives depend on that!
We have a tough job of trying to really educate and inform the people in our red states….especially a state like Kentucky that may be leery of the black guy in the WH:) I know that you are up to it…I have SEEN you write! Many thanks….many, many thanks!
BAGHDAD — The U.S. military closed the second of its three regional headquarters in Iraq on Thursday, redeploying 750 soldiers, consolidating command of nationwide operations under a single Army unit and maintaining a rapid pace of withdrawal 10 weeks before the expiration of its security agreement with Baghdad.
A ceremony at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, 110 miles north of the capital, honored the 4th Infantry Division for its year-long command of the north division of Iraq and marked the second deactivation of a headquarters unit within the past six weeks.
President Obama means business! I have to believe that the military morale is the highest it’s been – they must feel good with these successes under President Obama, and the steep reduction in losses. Plus, the focus from the First and Second Ladies.
Just ‘cuz it bears repeating….http://www.democratsforprogress.com/2011/10/20/to-the-democrats-who-didn%E2%80%99t-vote-in-2010/#more-6000
That was great! Thanks for posting.
Very good read! Thanks.
Thanks for this tidbit df. It looks like most things will have to be done by Executive Order from here on out.
I guess they do:( But those orders don’t last forever, and are easily changed back. We have to galvanize the people to give him what he needs to get the country’s business done! Hope you’re in to help get the truth out in your state! All hands on deck, sailor!
Aye,aye Chief. All ahead full. Course is set for 16 hundred Pennsylvania Ave.
I thought this was really kind of special….http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2011/10/afternoon-open-thread-694/ The Rug…and the makers thoughts.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s Republican presidential campaign chartered a private jet used in a cocaine-smuggling ring.
Perry’s campaign rented a Gulfstream III jet owned by Marquez Brothers International, The Wall Street Journal first reported.
All those millionaires got to stick together! Free market, baby!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called-off the remainder of the slated amendment votes early Friday morning citing weary staff and set the wheels in motion for a final passage vote on the underlying appropriations package once the Senate returns from recess.
Reid assured roughly a dozen senators whose amendments had not yet seen a vote that the Senate would revisit their proposal when it returns from the break in 10-days.
The final vote of the night inserted the Senate’s appropriations bill into a House bill giving the tacit approval of the upper chamber by a resounding 83-16. At least one more vote will be required, however, in order for the legislation to officially report out of the Senate.
I rage! http://thinkprogress.org/education/2011/10/20/349627/paul-ryan-three-jobs-pell-grants/
I rage some more! Graham wants to help build infrastructure in Libya, but NOT here! Why? BECAUSE THEY HAVE OIL REVENUE TO EXPLOIT!
Rage on, sister! Randi Rhodes has said a few times that the GOP and their corporate masters are done with the US as consumers, and they’re moving on to bigger money-making fish. This is probably a good example of that. Companies are bringing jobs back to the US because they’re looking for labor that’s cheaper than in China – that’s pretty bad. And with the GOP pushing to abolish the minimum wage, one can see where they’re headed. All the more reason to work hard for 2012 – the country can’t fall into the hands of the GOP. It just can’t.
Truth, theo. Sick as it is….I swear, if you tried to explain this to someone, we would ALL sound like conspiracy theorists!
But the media will give them a pass, that is why they can say whatever they want, it is pathetic!
That’s WHY we have to do this state by state! Are you in???
Go politico headlines-
Obama could drag down Senate Dems-
I wonder who’s the moron that gets paid at Politico to come up with such ignorant headlines. How infantile!
Politico is a nothing but a mouth piece for the Republican Party. You guys are so right, GOPolitico ought to you there name.
Any wonder they call themselves GOP(olitico)?
GOPolitico working overtime today with three negative headlines on its front page. Trying to make people forget PBO’s success yesterday and Rs obstruction. Hate them.
New Decoy Website Launched To Lure Away All Moronic Internet Commenters.
According to sources, Outkube boasts thousands of articles and forums carefully crafted to draw in dim-witted web users and effectively quarantine obtuse, uninformed comments on topics such as gay rights, Ryan Gosling, the threat of Sharia law in the U.S., health care reform, whether Kobe is better than LeBron, Jewish control of the government and media, the New York Jets, the Second Amendment, and professional wrestler John Cena.
Most stories on the site are reportedly preloaded with several witless and profanity-laden comments specially designed to incite retaliatory remarks.
johnson of lgf says
“Actually, there’s already a network of websites in the real world that’s a magnet for reactionaries, racists, sociopaths, and ranting loons of all stripes.
It’s known as “the right wing blogosphere.”
Toons for the day
These are really, really good!
A take on the Wine-Wine-Wine plan is the Whine-Whine-Whine plan. That is what Republicans do.
Yet another study confirming global warming
morning TOD family
Why, why, why does the Today Show have on John McCain to comment on Libya???????? NBC/Today has made the complete transition of becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party. Every day another Republican as their main guest, no fairness whatsoever.
The corporate media is an arm of the Republican Party.
We ALL know the answer to that! I’ll be calling my useless senator’s office to ask a LOT of questions! Makes NO difference to them that this is the same guy that went to Daffy and pledged fighter jets and other assorted goodies! WTF is wrong with these people? I guess he even gave Daffy a little “bow” when he was there! Traitor!
Because it’s John McCain. It’s always good news for John McCain. Me typing this is good news for John McCain.
