‘night everyone

I posted the video below in the comments in the previous thread in response to Joan’s take on the debate: “The world is listening to these people. They’re all seriously embarrassing the United States, the entire country. They should be dumped in a deep lake somewhere.”

So true.

But, I honestly think the world sees the difference between these nutjobs and sane Americans!

Just as a small example, when George W Bush came to Ireland in 2004 it was the biggest security operation in the history of the state because of the protests against his visit. The public wasn’t allowed anywhere near him.

And then there was this:

(Featuring my most loved shaky YouTube clip!)

Yet more change I believe in.

See you tomorrow ;-)

It’s been a good day. The GOP freak show continues to be freaky and if we’re lucky, Leroy will be the nominee.

Our glowing, healthy, foine Commander-in-Chief is safely ensconced right where he should be — in the White House with his girls, Bo,……and the First Lady of Cocoa Butter.

Yas — all is well. ;-)

    Good night TOD Family.

Didn’t look at the freak show but read the comments and feel confident about PBO’s reelection. What a fun filled day. Thanks to all of you especially Chips for the love and entertainment.

Yardarm756 is on his own. But his comment is no where near what I witnessed from you marvelous ladies with “The Wet One!” I must say that the few of us men on this site behave all the time. Although I must confess that It took a great deal of discipline, on numerous occasions, to avoid commenting on, and fantasizing about, our gorgeous First Lady. I am sure that if I had commented on the way I felt about her I would have been sent to the “naughty mat” for men that you are proposing. So you see, P, it’s all about discipline.

Actually what you said, Yardarm 756, is no where near as naughty as what I’ve read from some of the ladies that are routinely sent to the naughty mat. I think the surprise has to do with the fact that some of us men have been a bit more bashful. I am glad you had the courage to venture out. Having said that, I truly love this site. I appreciate the strong, sensitive, intellectual, sassy, women, led by Chipsticks, who have such a delicious sense of humor. There were some questions about how the crowd responded to PBO at the game today. Apparently cons were saying on twitter that he was booed. The Washington Post has an article on the game and this is how they wrote about the crowds reaction:

“Greeted loudly by the crowd of 80,000 that filled Fedex Field outside Washington for the 112th annual competition between two of the oldest rivals in American college football, Obama tossed the coin at the start of the game.

Under bright blue skies, and following a flyover by F-18 fighter jets and Apache helicopters, the president spent the first half of the game with Navy, chatting with midshipmen as well as Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who also attended the game as well as Vice President Joe Biden.”

So now I will retire and bid you all a good night!

I think the $10,000 bet might just derail the Romney campaign. Huntsman’s campaign already purchased the 10kbet.com domain supposedly. What I worry about is that the bet will hurt Romney so much his support has enough time to jump to Huntsman.

Newt defended really well, nothing stuck. He’s the favorite coming out and Romney looks desperate. Expect a renewed Huntsman push by the villager crowd. Hopefully Mitt has enough loyal support in NH to keep Huntsman down there.

8 years? Try 30, from Reagan to GWB, and including Bubba. This is a generational struggle we’re involved in, and it won’t be easily won. But, and this is what uplifts me, we’re not in it alone. It seems as if the whole world is moving along the same path.

        December 10, 2025 at 11:59 pm

I definitely think this is a generational struggle, and that’s why I appreciate PBO’s long view approach to things. He has the vision. He understands where we’re going. That is why the old guard is fighting so hard and so bitterly — what else could sustain their insane obstructionism but the sense that their whole world view is passing away before their very eyes, and is being indicted as bankrupt and corrupt as it passes? No wonder their top priority was the defeat of this President. They fear the next generation (and I count generation not just by age, but by outlook and inclination) and they are terrified of history’s verdict.

      • 79 Liberal Librarian
        December 10, 2025 at 11:46 pm

Honestly, I foresee quite a long time of Democratic dominance, along the lines of the New Deal coalition. Eventually there will be a backlash, and I could see a party that is economically conservative while espousing socially liberal values, a la the Modern Whig Party. The GOP’s extreme right wing is, when you come right down to it, a minority in the country; the more that GOP politicians cater to it, the more that it will turn off the moderate middle of the country. That middle will turn to the Democrats as the only way to stop the extreme right, but eventually a party will form that speaks to the center-right electorate without politicking for the dismantling of the programs that Dems will build over the coming years. The US will become what the the GOP right fears the most: a generally moderate, social-democratic state. We’re just at the beginning of the struggle. With a bit of luck and leadership, we’re in for some exciting times.

Remember we have not done any wrong to people, but we are on the side of trying our best to support a good man and his Administration to do the right thing for all who are hurting.

We will make it by standing with POB, praying for him, meditating on good thoughts for him and all who work with him daily to make this a better nation. We have the leader, so let us be great followers and doers of what we know to be the right thing, and we will win this fight.

LANDOVER, Md. — Wading into one of the most storied football rivalries, President Barack Obama saluted U.S. troops Saturday, kicking off a series of observances marking the end of the Iraq War. As the 112th Army-Navy game unfolded before him, Obama said: “They’re the best we have to offer.”
The president tossed the coin at the start of the game, visited wounded soldiers and their families and walked through a ceremonial cadet gantlet at halftime, switching sides in the traditional symbol of commander in chief neutrality.
As he watched players exchange hits on the field, Obama reminisced about his own athletic past, noting that it was early in high school that he got the idea that he wasn’t cut out for football
“I played football in ninth grade and then I realized I was more built for basketball,” he said Saturday from the CBS broadcast booth at FedEx Field. “I was a big kid in the eighth grade, and then in the ninth grade, suddenly everyone started getting a little heavier than me.”
Obama attended the game with Vice President Joe Biden and with Biden’s wife Jill. He strolled into the packed stadium, shaking hands as a song by the hard rock band AC/DC blared out of the stadium loudspeakers. F-18 jets and Apache helicopters flew in formation overhead.

President Obama’s reelection campaign has sponsored ads on Facebook knocking the leading Republican candidates for saying foreign aid to Israel should start at zero.

The attempt to portray Obama as more supportive of Israel than the Republicans who want to replace him is the latest in a concerted Democratic effort to push back on the perceptions that Obama has been a weak friend to Israel and that Republicans could be gaining the upper hand among Jewish voters.
