Like I said on the last thread. Simple thought. Those that have nothing to hide, hide nothing. Period. So, Mitt…What’s in YOUR taxes???

LOL @ This Week’s crawler: “Harry Reid Out of Line?” Uh, no, you media whores, he’s not out of line. They just can’t help themselves. 🙄

Knowing Harry Reid is a former boxing champion and the Senate Majority Leader I know he has guts. He seems soft spoken but informed. I would not put it past him to bluff and is that okay if he is? Sure it is. It could be a strategy.

From watching Rachel’s take on Mitt having hollered for his governor opponent to put out her husband’s taxes when he had not put out his own I’d say this is payback. Deflect off your own weaknesses is right out of the Rove playbook.

If it is not a bluff on Harry’s part then it is in line with all the secrecy from the past in Mitt’s career life. Destroying the computer hard drives containing emails and important info during his 4 yr term while governor, saying the Olympic records would be all kept in a UT museum accessible to everyone then while now we find the financial records, and emails have been destroyed point to secrecy and a lack of transparency.

Don’t let the question be deflected back to Harry Reid. We need it kept on Romney.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all the people from the last thread. Wouldn’t it be a great gift to us OBOTS if the MSM finally pressured R-money to release his returns or drop out?

Just posting this again for desertflower as it was the last post on the previous thead:

desertflower suggested that perhaps Mccain had gossiped with Reid about Romney’s tax returns. I don’t think they are close but what if it was Graham or Lieberman. They were on the plane with McCain and doubtless got all the gossip – the three of them act like a bunch of teenage girls sometimes. I notice the chyron under the Gibbs/Crowley video says ‘Graham says Reid is lying’. I guess all on the McCain team would be under suspicion not to mention Romney’s accountants. Reid is also Mormon – maybe it was a Mormon business connection? The Dems wouldn’t be backing Reid if they didn’t know for sure – somewhere the hard evidence is sitting – just waiting to be brought out at the appropriate time. What do you think desertflower about Graham or lieberman? Do we know if they are frendlier with Reid than McCain?

      August 5, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Anything is possible…he said it was a Bain investor…could have been a ruse, but maybe not. I don’t know if either one of them have the kind of wealth that would justify them being an investor with Bain…but I do know McCain and his wife are…Like I said before, Budweiser has been very, very good to them. Can you just see the picture in your head of the beer belly hanging out over the polyester pants…and the cheap beer can in hand…as they spew RW talking points and vote against their best interests like the sheeple they are?

Anyway, whoever it is…the American people would recognize that person as having direct knowledge of Romney’s returns…Lieberman/ Graham? I’m not feeling that one. They have no reason to have seen them in the first place…a casual conversation…yes, that’s possible…I think McCain is still a more solid guess. And it is just that, a guess. Willard can clear this whole thing up….easy peasy

Afternoon everyone. And Happy Birthday to ALL the Birthday folks.

df, I believe Reid said a person from Bain AND OTHERS had given him the info. “The OTHERS” could be anyone, but it definitely could be folks from McCain’s campaign.

You know df I’m kinda of the same mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if the info came out of the McCain camp. There are, for sure, some rethugs that don’t want to see this nitwit in the White House. Willard’s gonads are caught in his gold vice!

I find it interesting that we are falling into the same pattern of speculation as the MSM. In this particular case I don’t care about Harry Reid’s source, and won’t join MSM in speculating on either one’s credibility. Senator Read’s (political) character has been stalwart while Mitt’s hasn’t been. The fact is that Mitt Romney has a HISTORY of lying about his taxes, pointing his finger at others and telling people to trust him while blatantly lying with a straight face. A HISTORY! So IMO there’s enough doubt there to go after Mitt and leave the ‘source’ alone. Knowing who it is will provide no greater incentive than we already have to ensure that Mitt does the right thing. As Df states, ‘Willard can clear this whole thing up” and he should. If Willard were more politically astute, I would be anxious that he was trying to set a trap by dragging all democrats in to say he’s hiding something crucial, then showing a squeaky clean set of taxes thereby leaving egg on all their faces. However I have seen no political evidence that Willard has sense enough to even think ahead.

Thanks for pulling this together Chips! Excellent to be able to see all of these here. I heard that Reince Priebus called Harry Reid, a “dirty liar.” I think that it’s more like Dirty Harry who is telling Rmoney to “Make His Day.” Romney is hiding something. Why else would he pass up an opportunity to make Reid look silly. There is something in those returns that he can’t share with the public. Every day that this goes on, the press will smell blood in the water. Release the Returns Mitt! Take your lumps. This issue will not go away.

I will never forget my mother telling me,”Do not forget there by the grace of God, it could be any of us.” So, I hope the AP will remember that saying. Plus, why are they digging up this on the Douglas family now when they claim it happened in Jan. So people just can’t stand to see the beautiful American story take place anymore in our nation.

I wonder if they did research, especially during this tough economy, why , if this is the case. We need more compassion in a lot of things happening to our family, friends, neighbors, little ones, seniors. These are times to come together and use our hands and feet to help lift people up and help them to steady their feet.

These comments are not needed. I wonder if they bothered to check out the facts about Gabby’s father’s service in our military? It that true? Well, if it is, I am sure we have so many brave, compassionate, well trained men and women who have put their lives on the line for us, and our MSM just has time on their hands to blast a family.

This is why I love Chips and our president. We will continue to try to focus on being better angels, beautiful angels, and focus on finding ways to help our brothers and sisters get through this very difficult time in our nation. That is where we will constantly go back to when the opposition tries to throw all of this mean-spirited stuff at us.

Let us remember what we are here to do as we continue to learn how these people want power so badly that they are willing to crush a young lady who did what so many of them will never accomplish. And we will give thanksgiving to the beautiful family who helped Gabby and her family reach such a remarkable and beautiful goal. (((((( To the Family in Iowa))))))))HZ

I thought of this yesterday too! All the to do about Jenna Jameson endorsing MItt….could be she’s smarter than she appears….:)

Someone I know who is much more familiar with Jameson’s … ahem…body of work insisted that Jameson is far too generous a person to cop a “I got mine, screw you” Republican stance, but I remain unconvinced. To be fair, Jameson described herself as “extremely liberal” and supported Hillary Clinton in the last election. So maybe this is a great big middle finger to Romney, tying him to an industry that hurt him badly with social conservatives the last time around.

    Either way, it’s frickin’ hilarious.

It IS hilarious…Mitt’s got sex, drugs and rock and roll ( Jenna,Rush,Nugent) how funny is that…

Holy smokes Romney is getting hit from all quarters. The pundits thought the Olympics would distract from the issue at hand: Bain and Romney’s tax returns; but alas not true.

If this continues – hope it does – past the Olympics and Romney hasn’t made a dramatic move up in the polls, then he’s toast. More and more voters are tuning in and they think it’s shady that he hasn’t released more complete tax returns. No one likes shadiness. A majority of voters don’t vote for a leader they cannot trust. Combine this with the fact that the more voters get to know Romney, the more they dislike him. This does not bode well for the Willard.

    • 84 jacquelineoboomer

I wonder if it is like McCain’s I know where Bin Laden is and how to get him announcement prior to the election?

Also heard the end of the work week that Romney was going to tout his Governorship next. I am thinking going from 35th to 47th in ranking, destroying the records by buying all the computers, not running for a second term, the problems qualifying to be a candidate, retroactive tax paying, and being the author of Romneycare would be fodder for that move.

        3. Moving from 35th to 47th in terms of job creation!!!

it’s absolutely blood on the hands of fox news, limbaugh, and all those republican crazies in congress (assuming this was a hate crime). i’ve been liberal my whole life, and i cannot think of one time i heard a liberal friend say anything about shooting someone, either in jest or in anger. i also have to work a lot in really “red states” and meet/have dinner with a bunch of loud and proud republicans, and they talk about stuff like that constantly! have for years. they are exact echoes of what you hear on these “news” channels and all that misinformation is what fuels their hate. it’s really kind of creepy how much they talk about “offing” various politicians and the usual boogeyman republicans drum up.

this shooter probably thought he was going to take out some “muslins” and not even realizing he’s attacking a completely unrelated religion. i can’t believe something can’t be done to stop these hate-spewers that fill our airwaves, and being paid by a couple billionaires to do precisely that, i might add…

I remember an instance many years ago in church when I lived in AK the week prior to Easter. During the portion of the service where our priest gave the homily a man with a big gasoline can walked down the aisle into our service. He kneeled in a front pew kneeler then walked briskly out of the church. I remember praying silently very hard for God to spare us and help this man. Our priest continued on with his homily and visually signaled to the ushers to follow the man. This happened prior to the time of cell phones. I imagined the man was angry and was going to dump gasoline around the old wooden church and light us on fire. Later I heard in a more private setting from the priest that he had been counseling this man who was out of work and angry for quite awhile. You never know what will set someone off. I remember that really scared feeling of the day and know we missed a calamity.

hey, does anyone wonder if Team O has the some portion of the 23 years of returns that Willard released to McBeth in 2008? I mean seriously? I’m beginning to think they do. If McBeth’s opposition research on Willard leaked, why not the taxes? I think PBO has the info but is waiting on Willard to release a few more returns. it’s a win/win for PBO because even if Willard doesn’t release anymore returns, him and the dems can keep on making a stink about it and raise suspicion in the eyes of voters, and anonymous sources and wink-wink and nudge-nudge some enterprising reporters in certain directions where they might dig a little to uncover some previously unknown stuff about Willard. If PBO had the returns, it would make sense that he doesn’t release them because he’s not supposed to have them, plus it keeps his hands clean. I definitely think Team O has a shit load of stuff on R-Money and will continue to drip-drip it out. What happened to Willard’s returns after he was turned down by McBeth? I’m sure everything wasn’t shredded, some young staffer must have kept something. Something made it out of that failed campaign and I wouldn’t be surprised if Plouffe managed to get his cute little hands on it.

Lisa – I absolutely believe that they have the goods on him re taxes. They wouldn’t be goading so much if there was any doubt – it would make them look incompetent and ridiculous and that is not their style at all. If more people could see rachel’s report on the lies Willard told during the Mass gov campaign the bigger trouble he would be in. He said ‘pit up or shut up’ to Harry Reid and to the Mass press he said re them investigating his Utah/Mass residency ‘go ahead make my day’. That is such an easy ad for someone to make and one that all Americans would understand. I think Romney has a very sick relationship to money – accumulating it – I think that’s what gets him off and I bet that there are some very shady things in his returns. It also drives me crazy that the media claims that he has put out 2 years – he hasn’t even put out one, full, complete year!!!

Hi everyone. Someone posted this yesterday, sorry don’t remember who, but GREAT!

“Rachel Maddow has a series of segments this week that I think should be seen together. In them, Maddow dissects Willard and the tax returns, showing clearly that he tried this same program in 2002. She also shows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, how Willard LIED in 2002, pointing out to the rest of the MSM, that Willard has given up the right to be given the ‘ benefit of the doubt’, when it was obvious that in 2002, he lied through his teeth. Here’s a hint, Willard pulled the old ‘ retroactive’ card back then too. How come ‘ retroactivity’ comes into play when Willard is caught in, what would be considered FELONIES with other folks? How many folks get to LIE to GOVERNMENT ENTITIES and don’t get charged?”

If any issue was just crying out for attention in this country, it is sensible gun control. This is insane, these mass shootings that are happening on a regular basis, to say nothing about all the wounding and shooting deaths that are going on in our big cities daily. It is time to take on the NRA and all these Repub controlled states which continue to loosen gun control laws, as the violence escalates. There are too many sickos, too many with obvious serious mental health issues, who have access to guns. It is infuriating, utterly insane, for the NRA to continue to hold this country hostage, putting innocent people anywhere and everywhere at risk.

Dotster, it really doesn’t matter. Terrorism is horrible. Over the years, it seems that the media has usually gone to great pains to mention the perpetrator skin color when that criminal is a person of color. When the perp is white, it’s not mentioned. It’s something that most people of color just seem to know from experience.

        • 202 lamh35
          August 5, 2012 at 8:48 pm

yesh, it ‘SHOULDN’T’ matter, but it does matter whether or not the gunman is a “furiner” or a “Muslim” or a “black man”…it matters because the media narrative will be “written” based on it. That’s why the media is so frustrated. They can’t construct the narrative they want if they have no idea who or what the shoter was.

let’s not be naive. If the shooter is another Siky or Muslim or “foreigner” or anyone of any color other than white, the media will construct an us versus them narrative…ie.e all the “blacks, muslims, illegals” are coming to kill us.

It’s the difference between the media’s lack of coverage of Black on Black crime, but there overcompensated coverage when white people are shot by non-white people

Again, it shouldn’t matter and in a morally righteous and fair media world it wouldn’t

Romney Smears Obama, Falsely Claims He Filed Lawsuit To Restrict Military Voting In Ohio

        By Judd Legum

The Romney campaign is totally unable to back up their candidate’s claim:

Romney’s spokesman, Ryan Williams, in an interview Saturday could point to no place in Obama’s lawsuit that seeks to restrict the rights of military voters…

Romney’s legal counsel, Katie Biber, said creating two separate classes of Ohio voters does not violate the 14th Amendment, though she also did not offer evidence that Obama’s lawsuit would make it tougher for members of the military to vote…

Axelrod Calls Out Wallace Over False Claim About Blocking Military Voters

        By David

“I absolutely do and the way you stated it and the way, frankly, Gov. Romney has stated it is completely false and misleading,” Axelrod shot back. “What that lawsuit calls for is not to deprive the military of the right to vote on the final weekend of the campaign — of course they should have that right. What that suit is about is whether the rest of Ohio should have the same right.”

“And I think it’s shameful that Gov. Romney would hide behind our servicemen and women to try and win a lawsuit to try and deprive other Ohioans of their right to vote,” he added.

Ohio’s Republican-controlled legislature last year enacted new voting restrictions that prevented most voters from casting early ballots after the Friday before the election. Members of the military, however, had their rights preserved, giving them until Monday to vote.

Is anyone else alarmed that we have a presidential candidate that
      a) can’t read or understand a document properly
      b) can actually read and understand but is choosing to outright LIE in the manner that he is???

jovie141, I think it’s the other way, why Mitt “the Liar” Romney hate President Obama. Why the entire extreme Republican party hate this President.

    • August 5, 2012 at 8:39 pm

You don’t think PBO despise Romney? This sound very true to me. Romney is everything Barack Obama can’t stand in people and I have no doubt that can’t stand him. Also, I’m glad about that. I need PBO in a fighting mode.

Mitt Romney Doesn’t Want More Fed Stimulus Before The Election

      By Grace Wyler

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney preemptively pushed against more federal stimulus this weekend, saying that he doesn’t think another round of monetary stimulus from the Federal Reserve would boost the economy.

“I am sure the Fed is watching and will try to encourage the economy, but I don’t think a massive new QE3 will help the economy,” Romney said in an interview with CNN that aired Sunday. “”The Fed’s first action, quantitative easing, was effective to a certain degree. But I believe that the QE2, the second round of easing, I don’t think it had the impact that they were hoping for.”

What is there to say really? Condolences and no action. A majority of the people have to reach the point that the NRA makes them feel as sick as they make you and me. Nothing will change until an endorsement from the NRA becomes a negative.

Frankly, at this point it’s getting tiresome to keep pointing out Willard “Mitt” Romney’s blatant, pathological lying on any and all subjects.
Anyway, now serial liar Willard “Mitt” Romney has stooped to yet another new low, even by his own bottom-of-the-barrel ethical standards. I’ve posted (on the “flip”) the Obama campaign’s statement on Romney’s outrageously false attack against President Obama for attempting to PROTECT people’s voting rights in Ohio.

The facts, as opposed to Romney’s lies, are clear. Earlier this year, Ohio’s Republican-controlled legislature passed a law that cut off early voting three days before the election (it had previously been 35 days), except for military voters. This outrageous, blatantly partisan law led 300,000 Ohioans to sign a petition to put a referendum on the November ballot, repealing this monstrosity.
So what does the Romney campaign do? That’s right, they maliciously and blatantly lie, twisting the facts 180 degrees to somehow claim that it’s not the Republicans working overtime to deny peoples’ rights to vote in Ohio and around the country, but actually it’s the people fighting back – in this case, the Obama campaign – who are the true villains.

I don’t think he knows too much about Sikh history or religion. I do know one thing, as a student of history, they fought on our side during maney of OUR wars and acquitted themselves greatly. As some old-timers that were in the South Pacific or Korea. Their big problem is like visual identification. No turban, beard, or dark skin and some folks wouldn’t have anyone to hate,eh?

    7:12 PM – Today
    Brady Campaign Releases Statement

Brady Campaign President Dan Gross today released the following statement in response to the mass shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire community of Oak Creek after today’s terrible shooting at the Oak Creek Sikh Temple in Wisconsin. This is yet another powerful reminder of the need for a real national conversation about what we can do to prevent gun violence tragedies, and for our elected officials and presidential candidates to participate in that conversation by offering real plans to do something about it. There have now been 61 mass shootings since the tragedy last year in Tucson and 100 school shootings since the one at Columbine High School. Tomorrow, another 32 Americans will be murdered by guns.

The American people from across the political spectrum are calling for solutions. We know that we are better than this. It is time for our elected officials and presidential candidates to show us that they know it too.

i’ve been looking at some local wisconsin coverage of the horrific shooting, and sensing at least one thing good that could come out this could be more bonding and education between the sikh community and the non-sikh communities.

i’ve felt one of the best things about president obama is his leadership on bringing people together and never wavering from that. he’s helped create an environment where tragedies like today can at least be turned into teaching moments for society as a whole, as opposed to the “axis of evil” and “divide and conquer” culture that republicans promote. that’s why of course, republicans and the media are actively pushing the false theme that president obama is a “divisive” president, since one of their main strategies always is to take away the strengths of their opponents. we all must stop republicans and their hate promotion once and for all. forward!!

This is what is so sad

“Sikh rights groups have reported a rise in bias attacks since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Washington-based Sikh Coalition has reported more than 700 incidents in the U.S. since 9/11, which advocates blame on anti-Islamic sentiment. Sikhs don’t practice the same religion as Muslims, but their long beards and turbans often cause them to be mistaken for Muslims, advocates say.”

I am with you desertflower. The so called MSM are totally mum when it comes to exposing the hate merchants who dominate talk radio. Yet they get outraged, 24/7, over manufactured lies about President Obama.

      • August 5, 2012 at 9:20 pm

And if they’re Muslims, would this violence be acceptable? I really feel for the Muslims who are lumped into one violent bundle, while the domestic terrorists who call for “2nd Amendment Remedies” aren’t considered to be representative of the entire “Christian” and Conservative communities – even when those calling for those remedies are running for elected office. This tragedy would be no less deplorable if these victims were innocent Muslims, or people of any religion or cultural group.

          August 5, 2012 at 9:33 pm

Which was meant by my post theo – if there have been 700 instances against sikhs – there have no doubt been many more against many other people including those of other religions. It is beyond sad that so many are being attacked – for no reason I can understand.

          • 267 nathkatun7
            August 5, 2012 at 10:22 pm

Here is the NBC statement that bothered me, 99ts:

“Sikhs don’t practice the same religion as Muslims, but their long beards and turbans often cause them to be mistaken for Muslims, advocates say.”

This suggests to me that if they were Muslims violence against them would be either acceptable or understandable. It also suggests that if Sikhs didn’t grow long beards and wear turbans, then they would be spared of violence, which is basically aimed at Muslims with long beards and wear turbans. The statement reminded of Geraldo Rivera’s justification for the killing of Treyvon Martin because he was wearing a hoodie.

        • 268 nathkatun7
          August 5, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Very well said, theo67! Even well meaning people, who unwittingly keep repeating the mantra that Sikhs are not Muslims, leave the impression that if they were Muslims violence against them would be acceptable, or, at the minimum, understandable. This is dangerous thinking.
