Came home for the best part, Clint Eastwood and an invisible chair upstaged the nominee at his own damn convention.

Wow Oh Shit Wolf Blitzer is MAD about Clint Eastwood and he ain’t letting the GOP strategist get away with trying to say that Clint made it okay to make fun of Obama. And Wolf basically went off (for Wolf anyway) about the disrespect of POTUS.

BTW, the GOP hacks said that Clint Eastwood did have a speech, but he basically through it out.

    • 19 lisalovesobama
      August 31, 2012 at 12:10 am

Maybe Wolf is a bit touchy since the peanut thing. He’s never cared one way or another about people being disrespectful to POTUS before ie: TeaNN?

    • August 31, 2012 at 12:11 am

How lame is that excuse?! Made it ok to make fun of Pres.Obama? Bullshit! GOP jokes about PBO have been racist. They weren’t funny. Clint wasn’t funny (at least not in the way he wanted to be) and the birther comment from Mitt is still not funny.

I agree. Perhaps Eastwood doesn’t know what the “Invisible Man” means to African Americans. Perhaps we should send a copy of this classic novel written by Ralph Ellison to Eastwood, the RNC and the Romney campaign. This was deeply offensive, even if it wasn’t planned and Eastwood didn’t know what he was doing. NO national convention should allow speakers who are unscripted to ramble on. That “skit” was deeply offensive, and disrespectful. All African Americans deserve an apology, and a good start would be for Eastwood and the Romney campaign to apologize to the President.

Yes, I was turning of another channel, and caught Anderson, Ari, Alex C. and Wolf, and Wolf’s hair was really on fire. I do not like Wolf, but he must of had a moment of reality, and he lit into Alex. He even had the tape rolled back again, and told Alex that he would continue his conversation with him in private. He was on fire. About time. HZ

Saw that live Chips. I was laughing my ass off. The thing is that the Romney camp was trying to be too cute by half and got bit in the ass.

That shit was on national TV. Which means that non-political radio DJ, entertainment journalist, pop television, blogs, twitter you name it will be reporting on how crazy Clint Eastwood made a fool not just of himself but of Romney too.

I expect Clint to get bigger headline and buzz than Mitt’s speech.

I don’t know how to bring a tweet over… but here is one that I think is very thoughtful & puts an important light on Eastwood’s weirdness tonight:

The image of an old white man putting a fantasy black man in his place, Eastwood’s “I won’t shut up. It’s my turn,” is deeply telling.

GW’s old press sec., said Romney’s team had a script for Clint, but he refused to use it. I heard that on Cnn at the end of my wine evening. These people caused me to have over my limit tonight. It was a pile of shit directed at a decent and wonderful president. Shameful is not even close IMO of what Clint did tonight. HZ

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/08/30/778781/rnc-thursday/ I think RWNJ’s are shitting their pants.

11:40: Castellanos on Eastwood’s bizarre speech: “If you thought Republicans had a gender gap yesterday, wait until tomorrow.”

11:38: Former Romney adviser Alex Castellanos on CNN: “He didn’t answer the question that is on everybody’s mind, which is he didn’t offer anything new. He just wanted to go back to Bush. And at some point, Candy Crowley is going to be moderating a debate. Barack Obama is going to turn to MItt Romney and say, ‘here is what I want to know: you’ve said nothing new tonight.’”

11:30: The Romney campaign has issued a statement explaining that Eastwood’s performance “can’t be measured through a typical political lens.” Meanwhile, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) told CNN that the actor was “absolutely terrific.”

11:29: On CNN, former Reagan adviser David Gergen said Romney’s speech lacked substance. “If there were any tough choices laid out tonight, I didn’t hear them. I think they skirted that.”

11:36: Two people were escorted out of the convention hall holding Code Pink signs and one reading, “Democracy is not a business.”

Cryptkeeper Jan must have been hitting the sauce hard tonight. She does that.

I think Eastwood was denigrating President Obama by talking to an empty chair. IMO, the empty hair equals “empty suit”. He also kept using the “F bomb” as though President Obama was cursing. I heard someone say that President Obama doesn’t curse like that.

    • 100 cluny

Actually I’ve heard that PBO curses alot! They all do – what’s amazing about PBO is that he has the self control to never let slip in public. He’s of the generation that said ‘F’ every other word so good on him for setting a good example in public. I have been crying with laughter at the ‘invisible obama’ – funnier and cleverer than eastwooding IMHO although both are great

When the smoke clears, I think a few talking heads are gonna be out of a job. My sense is there is starting to be a strong desire for the MSM to promugated the truth. There are a few out there that have no idea what truth is or how to report it. It won’t be the only contest going on in the country.

DH just told me this: apparently Clint Eastwood was a last minute replacement. The RNC originally wanted a Reagan hologram, but it was scrapped because they feared HoloReagan wuld be more interesting than R-Money and because the company that does the holograms refused to let them use it.
