With the GOP lead SCOTUS weakening and trying to overturn every single one of these. GOP Governors with their “Right to Work for Less” states have weakened and put workers at risk and I wonder why these same workers would rather work in a non-union shop for less money baffles me.

Agreed jojo. There are many low information people out there voting against their own interest or not understanding the power of their vote. We’ve gotta keep beating the drums louder and more often. And we need more drummers.

Happy Labor Day, Mr. President! You get it! Love your reference to the labor of “the bartender who knows what you’re drinking when you walk in” – that made me smile.

Happy Labor Day to all Americans and Canadians, who both celebrate today!

In Romney’s 1% family, “child labor” means his grandkids might have to wash the car or something (as if).

In my grandfather’s 99% family, back in 1896 when he was 11 years old, he had to go into the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania to help support his family. During his lifetime (cut short because of the condition of his lungs in the 1950s), he’d say of the President of the United Mine Workers (who helped get them out of what happened to him personally as a young boy – coincidentally the age of my grandson today), and my grandfather was a peaceable man, “If anybody says anything bad about John L. Lewis, I’ll kill him!”

We all need to thank and support the unions, on behalf of all of our grandfathers and all of our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren!

      ok…here is my e-mail

      Please have Mrs Greenspan
correct the lie she just told on National television….that the Democrats had
” Total Control of Congress for the first two years ”

When was Al Franken seated ?

When Did Scott Brown get sworn in ?

In case you all don’t know how to use google….

Franken was sworn in on July 7, 2009

Scott Brown was sworn in on February 4, 2010.

Now , I am no math wizard…but even counting on my fingers, that equals about 7 months of the Democrats having 60 votes in the Senate .

She still has time to make the correction before the end of what she laughably calls a news show.

Thanks, and remember…we are watching and listening to what is said.

Thank you Linda for correcting Mrs. Greenspan. She’s knows that is BS. I get so tired of hearing this nonsense. The other thing that burns my arse is when they say liberals are angry with President Obama for not closing GITMO as he promised. When we all know that the reason GITMO has not been closed is because of Republicans AND Democrats in congress blocking it. Facts are stubborn things.

Please don’t forget to dig deep and donate what you can before President Obama accepts the nomination on Thursday. All primary funds must be submitted before he accepts the donation – then you go into the General Election fund. If you have any of the Primary $2500 maximum still available, and you can afford it, please donate. Early voting starts on Sept 27. The campaign needs to be able to respond to the SuperPAC dollars and the attack ads that will start flowing from the GOP donors, and there will be plenty to refute. We can’t wait until October. Dig deep! Thanks!

    • 96 idon
      September 3, 2012 at 1:26 pm

PBO can counter the GOPKKK KarlaRove attack ads if everyone votes early. PBO has asked that we vote early, which me and my husband will do on October 20th – the first day of early voting in Nevada. I will donate to the DNC for the next three months. I have very little but I did donate $3 a month donation for each family member; my husband, my dog peep, Caleb, and myself. I call Caleb a dog peep because to us, he is a person, a family member. We could never ever strap our baby to the top of a car.

Caller on CSPAN after the speech makes a good point. Says the last businessman to runt he country was Herbert Hoover and look what happened. It took Roosevelt 4 consecutive terms to get us out of the mess Hoover created.

That sounds like something that should be in somebody’s speech on the podium this week.

    • 105 hopefruit2
      September 3, 2012 at 1:16 pm

Plus FDR had super majorities of 80+ DEMS in the senate!!! PBO only had marginal fillibuster-proof marginal majority for two years (and that majority including a whole bunch of blue dogs), and a small majority for the remainder of his term.

      • 106 cookemom
        September 3, 2012 at 1:19 pm

yep, I like this analogy of it taking the Dem Roosevelt 4 terms to fix the mess of the Repub businessman. It’s a clear contrast that seniors can relate to.

      • 107 nathkatun7
        September 3, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Exactly! But even with super majorities in Congress, it still took FDR three terms to finally arrest high unemployment. A great deal of FDR’s success in creating jobs had to do with the massive government mobilization and spending for World War II. One of my biggest disappointment with the pundits and reporters in the MSM is their ignorance of history. Sadly, the same is true of the holier than thou progressives who are in love with FDR and LBJ but constantly disparage President Obama.
