December is turning out to be quite an exciting month for political junkies.

  4. December 21, 2012 at 5:02 pm

And somewhere John Boehner is on his 3rd fifth of scotch.

well, that’s what i’m muttering after hearing the pundwits chime in immediately after pbo completed his presentation. the fact is, the rethugs are holding the nation hostage, for nothing but their political games–to replace boner with can’t-er. that’s all it is, and they’re willing to raise taxes on everyone to do that. the president was amazingly pleasant considering what had to be going through his head (probably exactly what ken here wrote).

It seems like our President doesn’t get his Christmas vacation.

I’m furious about that. I think maybe he can get four days in Hawaii, but he’s clearly going to be in Washington some time after Christmas Day. After four years of stellar work, after a gruelling campaign, and after working fairly to negotiate a deal with a bunch of fools – he doesn’t get a vacation. The GOP, on the other hand, have worked 30% of the time, are insane, and have already gone home for the holidays. Life is not fair.

It sounds to me that the President is saying that he’s done more than his share toward compromise and he’s not going to budge.

Good, strong, sensible statement by PBO. Wake up Washington and try having as much sense as the American people. I’m sick and disgusted with Boehner and his asylum crew for spoiling the president’s chance to have a real vacation with his family. Frankly, I hope every hard-headed GOP Congressman has a dark cloud hanging over his/her head on Christmas. Time for the Ghost of Christmas future to visit every House Republican’s fireside. I don’t have as big a heart and as generous a spirit as PBO. They don’t deserve a ‘merry’ Christmas.

And I would not put it past the Repubs to have the disruption to President Obama’s xmas vacation as an added incentive to refusing to deal, to make him have to return to try again to get some kind of solution with the idiots.

But, you know, he is not at all a vindictive man, but in a way I guess he might enjoy the heck out of dragging their sorry asses back to DC, especially they thought they were going to get away with it. Never, I repeat, NEVER underestimate Barack Obama. Love you guys. I’m around, in and out, finally got my tree, just a lttle table topper this year, instead of a 9 footer. I realized I am just too tired to unload all those boxes to deco a big tree. The little one I can manage. Maybe. 🙂

A good idea that works for me, Pamela, if you don’t want to decorate the 9-footer: Use blue Christmas lights on your tree, and when they’re the only lights in the room, they remind ya of being in the forest on a wintry night. (That’s what I tell everyone, when they ask “Where are your ornaments?” Ha!)

What PBO basically said is: “grow the fuck up and do your jobs!.”
So sad that he said that “he will see you next week”; no Hawaiian vacation to get away from these fools.

    • 70 jacquelineoboomer
      December 21, 2012 at 8:43 pm

He’s apparently doing the ol’ exploratory committee route now. I’m so not interested in Cory Booker. I like him, but I keep expecting the fakery to emerge, while realizing I could be wrong. It’s a quandry. (Like he cares what exploring my thoughts would uncover!)

I know Pres. Obama is leaving for Hawaii tonight, but he also told the press corps “see you next week” because congress is coming back for more negotiations and McConnell is staying in D.C., so I guess it’s going to be a short vacation for him?

Hello everyone – made it to December 22 in my world (9.40am) – I just watched the video on the last thread on PBO running for the senate – what is wonderful – he hasn’t changed his ideas – he has done everything with the help of the people & little help from the party – or from Washington. For all those people screaming for change in Washington – they surely got it – a man who has more family values and love of the American People than every last member of the GOP put together.

That video shows so clearly that “what you see is what you got”. What an amazing, remarkable man – his absolute best is yet to come – it will be spectacular. The families of those wee children who died, just a week ago, will marvel at what PBO achieves – I hope it will help their effort to keep living amid the deepest of sorrow.

Is Senator Innouye’s body traveling to Hawaii tonight, as well? Someone mentioned that there’s a ceremony tomorrow that the President might attend?

  37. December 21, 2012 at 7:29 pm

So, the President says we are going to have to find common ground and the Emo Pigs interpret that as caving on SS.
At this point, I am not sure who is worse, the Emo Pigs or the Baggers?

Well, that contraceptive issue has reached the Supreme court.
One thing about conservatives, they suit everything they don’t like.
Meanwhile, state legislators, like Florida and Michigan pass unconstitutional bills all the time, no challenges from the left. Why?

Sessions compares last-minute vote on deficit deal to ‘Communist Russia’

    By Ramsey Cox
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) compared a rushed vote next week on a “fiscal cliff” deal to “old Communist Russia.”

“We do not need to have a serious matter involving more than $1 trillion of taxpayer money dropped on the Senate next Thursday without time to read it, without time for the Congressional Budget Office to score it and rubber stamp it like old Communist Russia,” Sessions said on the floor Friday evening.

They don’t quit talking shit do they?
