Why does the President hate women?

Back soon, have to go buy some food – tonight I will be cooking eggiano, fries and baked beansio, washed down with a vintage glass of milk. Eat your heart out Liberal Librarian. 😎

Are you in a large city or a small inefficient one? WY has made getting a drivers license renewed a big deal. Lots of paperwork needed. Married women even have to bring our marriage certificate to prove our name change. We have to do this every four years. My son has to go through even more every year to renew his CDL. I guess the CDL is because of the hazardous material. Why are we all now guilty and have to prove our innocence? We also used to be proud to have the two longest free borders when I was young. No passports needed. Oh, how I long for the good old days when I trudged miles to school in a foot of snow! 😉

Carol I am in a city, in a state that is bassackwards in all things political and red tape. I have a license from another state, which is still valid. I have to give them that, a birth certificate, social security card, a utility bill as proof of address and proof of insurance. Then, on top of the vision and sign tests, I have to pass the written knowledge test. When we moved out to Colorado years ago, I went to the DMV express in the mall, handed them my Virginia license, and they gave me a Colorado one with only the vision test. Were it not for the lovely beaches only a few hours away, I’d be so outta here!

I was ticked off this morning when Joe Scarborough held up a picture of the President with a roomful of white men (cutting off, by the way, Valerie Jarret–only her legs were visible on the picture). I’m sure that from time to time he has a non-diverse group in his office, but it DOESN’T make them his INNER CIRCLE. A picture of his REAL inner circle is on the front page here, a Souza picture dated Jan 8, 2013.
Besides that except for Clinton and Jackson, the other women in his cabinet will probably stay, as well as Susan Rice at the U.N.

I get So tired of Scarborough’s distortions and Mika’s mealymouth defenses, IF she offers a defense at all. They need somebody on that show who isn’t Afraid to challenge Scarborough.

Scarborough has GOT to the worst of the right wing ideologues on MSNBC, Much worse than Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell and that Cupp woman on the Cycle.

Mika is a real disappointment. My spell check renamed her Mikado! 🙂 I almost never see it. Just the clips. It starts at 4am here and I don’t bother recording it. I do like Washington Journal on C-Span. Hate every other caller though. Just sick of TV right now. I’m hypercritical of everyone on TV. and my local paper and and and everyone but the great people on The Obama Diary. Oh, and anyone who wants to talk about how great the Denver Broncos are. That puts me at odds with the REAL football fans here. Better end this before I get myself in hot water. One more thing. Who thinks I should get two Inaguration tickets for my hubby and me from Sen. Barraso?

We watched one of the games with him while we were visiting, on TV. He bought the best local pizza I’ve had. Why would you go to a pj when you have another choice? The U.S. media are a joke! After President Obama nominated two women to the Supreme Court, I remember people like Scarborough and Pat Buchanan attacking him for being anti-white males. Now the President is being attacked for being anti-women.

Let’s see, in President Obama’s first term, in addition to the two women he appointed to the Supreme Court, he appointed five women to his cabinet: Sec.of State, Sec. of Homeland, Sec. of Health and Human Services, Sec. of Labor, and the U.N. Ambassador who was given a cabinet rank. Do these media people think all their viewers are stupid?

[Hello All! Hopefruit et. al, saw your comments in previoius thread re: MSM trying to rain on our parade (i.e., inuaguration). There’s going to be entertainment, etc. Couldn’t respond till now because I read the comment while stuck in traffic! 🙂 ]:

Beyoncé, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson will perform the patriotic songs at the second inauguration of President Obama on Jan. 21, the inauguration committee will announce today.

Beyoncé, who’s also starring at the Super Bowl halftime show next month, will sing the national anthem, always a tough tune to pull off well.

Taylor, the Sweet Baby James icon of ’70s folk-rock, will sing America the Beautiful.

And Clarkson, the first winner of American Idol (2002), will sing My Country, ‘Tis of Thee, the song with different lyrics but the same tune as the British national anthem. At the first Obama inaugural ceremony in 2009, soul diva Aretha Franklin sang it while wearing a memorable hat.

More announcements about entertainment at the inauguration are expected in coming days.

All this will take place during the public swearing-in ceremonies on the Capitol steps, when President Obama delivers his second inaugural address before a crowd likely to top more than 1 million.

[People aren’t stupid, they’re waiting for these fools to come to their senses! With regards to all that greed & overreach from the hotels ….]:

[…..] Still, there’s a sense that hotels—a number of them with a three- or four-day minimum stay requirement, and some offering lavish package deals—may have overreached. There’s no getting around two factors that can’t help but impact turnout: It is a second inauguration for Obama, and most Americans are watching their wallets at a time of continued economic challenges and low confidence in government solutions.

A room at the Willard Hotel, for example, which is on the inaugural parade route, will set you back $1,149 per night—before taxes, meals, balls, transportation, and so on—and there’s a four-night minimum, beginning with check-in on Friday, January 18. We made a call to the sales office today and were told, “Yes, we still have rooms available.” Later, reservations manager Seiko Kondo said in an e-mail: “We can place a request on our waitlist for [a] shorter stay.”

On the other hand, the Jefferson Hotel, on 16th Street and about half a mile from the White House, has already nixed its four-day minimum and will now accept two-night reservations. According to Meaghan Donohoe, a spokesperson for the Jefferson, “Rates are currently starting at $799 for a three-day minimum and $1,185 for a two-day minimum. Due to low reservations, these listed rates are reduced from the initial starting rate of $950 per night for a four-night minimum stay.” […..]

    Hello, TOD family,

Just dropping in to wish all a wonderful day. This latest msm meme about lack of women and diversity in POTUS’ cabinet is sooooooo tiresome. I so agree about Scarborough. He is the absolute bottom of the barrel. Had the nerve to say he never lost an election and if he goes back into politics, he’ll never lose. Dream on, hypocrite.

And did anyone catch Chris Matthews on Scarborough this morning? He claims he’s left leaning but admitted he voted for Bush. Enough said.

I don’t watch Morning Joke, and I have enough of Matthews when he comes on twice a day. I think I will write a letter to MSNBC and suggest they give one of Matthews time slot to Joy Reid. I like her, a hell of alot better than that piece of crap Ezra Klein or Matthews, or Morning Joke.

Joy Reid is outstanding because she does her homework and always comes armed with facts. Matthews appears to just show up at the studio and read the teleprompter. No depth whatsoever and often just plain wrong. I’m going to write a letter to MSNBC as well and just stop watching Joke and Matthews. So much more I could be doing with that time.

When I found that out I commented on every show I would see him on MSNBC when he was making comments. Haven’t seen him for awhile, but that may be do to Christmas break. I’ve never watched Morning J. Maybe once. Guess he was reprimanded and was off air for a whole week and Time reprimanded him too. Not nearly enough.

What is this all about ? Those pundits were the first to give a platform to the republicans who were against Susan Rice. The whole Beltway was behind John Kerry… Or is it frustration in some quarters that Michele Flournoy (sp?) didn’t get the SoD position ?

The conversation in the Beltway is superficial and ridiculous, as usual.

Kerry, Hagel and Lew are great candidates, and I have no doubt Susan Rice will continue to play a prominent role in foreign policy. As for the other positions in the cabinet, I’m sure President Obama will take diversity into consideration. Thinking about women candidates, I would LOVE to see Jennifer Grandholm enter the cabinet. She has executive experience, she’s pretty progressive, she is a great communicator. And she always has the president’s back.

The Republican Main Street Partnership, a Washington-based group that has promoted moderate GOP lawmakers and policies, will remove the word “Republican” from its title and welcome center-right Democrats in 2013, Yahoo News has learned.

The organization’s board of directors voted Tuesday morning to scrap party identification from its title and be known simply as “The Main Street Partnership.” The group’s new president, former Ohio Republican Rep. Steven LaTourette, told Yahoo News that he plans to begin conversations with Blue Dog Democrats and centrist groups in the coming months.

(I have checked out yet who’s in Republicans for Environmental Protection which is now ConservAmerica. I think these groups should start by supporting & thus changing those in their own party who’re more about the country — e.g., take out the TPs. Even though I get irritated by the Blue Dog mentality at times, I think all the components of the Dem Party makes it work. These groups sound like poachers to me, en route to creating their own party, not keeping Dems in position of strength. I could be wrong, but that the niggling feeling I’ve had. 🙂

*Why does the President hate women?*

Oh, Chips, I think you’ve nailed it. It’s a subterfuge that he selects women for the Supreme Court, his cabinet, his advisors, and campaigns for women who are running for office. That he even gave Lilly Ledbetter the time of day, and that he has women friends of long standing. Look how dastardly he treats his mother-in-law (I like to start with grandma), his wife, and his two daughters, not to mention his sister (and then there was the awful way he treated his mother and grandmother, and, today, Dr. Jill Biden). And how he made a fool out of his former political rival, Hillary Clinton, by making her his Secretary of State, and look at the respect he forced her to have for him. We’ve all been fooled. I think if he knew how many women supported him out here in America and around the world, he’d find a way to “get us back.” Poor man to be holding all that hatred in, eh?

Oh, and, by the way (no kitchen goddess, myself), I have absolutely no idea what your dinner menu meant. Was that food? If so, pass the salt.

pbo is the guy who made sure women have access to health care, to free family planning–and what about the people who are taunting him? would they actually fill high offices with women? all those pregnant, breast feeding women, with toddlers pulling at their skirts? how do they think it’s even possible for women to hold jobs? with an aspirin between their knees?

sheesh. okay, thanks for letting me onboard for a minute.

Remember all the Republican lead committee assignments a while back, where they didn’t think to appoint a woman until – oops – they were caught in their all-white-male emphasis on handing out the power? Then they kicked in some woman to head a committee (probably post-childbearing years, of course). Who’d wanna get on board that hot mess?

JOB, you are so on point and every one in the media knows this as well. This is so much baloney to tarnish the president’s image before the inauguration and give a little boost to their GOP bosses. None of this worked throughout an entire year of presidential campaigning, as women across the country turned out in droves to vote for the president. What I truly resent is the waste of time this idiocy represents. The US and the world are facing real problems, not the least of which is drastic climate change (hello Australia, India) that threatens to make the future bleak for everyone on the planet. We’ve got growing problems in our states with GOP governors and state assemblies itching to further restrict voting. In PA state websites insist that IDs are required for voting even though this issue has yet to be decided by the courts. We have a GOP led Congress determined to undermine the economy and cause maximum pain to victims of disaster. We have uncontrolled gun violence and massive problems in our education system. We have a REPUBLICAN Party that is determined to UNDERMINE WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, a far more important issue than how many women stand in the Oval Office at one time. And what does the media spend its time on? Made up gossip about a non-existent issue. I would love to shout from the nearest rooftop that if anyone has a choice between listening to pundits on tv and radio or scrubbing floors, they should go for the floors. Much more effective use of time and actually accomplishes something. Let all the ratings on all the stations sink like stones.

Jackie, please turn that into a letter to the editor or something immediately, if you haven’t already. Don’t change a word and just send it out. Or send it to the DNC for them to use. You’ve captured everybody’s angst and agita. We don’t even have our wonderful President and Vice President taking the oath for their second term, and it’s like we’ve been through all four years of push back already with this garbage. Hang in there, sugar! P.S. Or you should run for office! I mean it! 🙂

Need an opinion folks! There is a woman I have known (online in the art community) for many years and I buy most of my supplies from her. I’ve always gotten good prices and excellent service. However she is a very conservative, hyper-religious, right wing Obama hater…and since his re-election has been quite vocal about that on Facebook, almost on a daily basis. I am so put off by it that I am seriously considering no longer doing business with her. I have no desire to give thousands of dollars a year of my hard-earned money to someone like that.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this?

    • January 9, 2013 at 4:15 pm

Leave politics aside. If she continues to provide good products and excellent service then keep dealing with her. If you don’t have to go thru her Facebook page to buy anything then don’t sweat it. My next door neighbor used to be a dyed in the wool Rush Limabaugh ditto head but he was aces when when it came to helping us out here and there.

      • 163 Rain
        January 9, 2013 at 4:32 pm

She doesn’t promote it through her business. I guess I should have been more clear about that. She has a website for her business. The things I complained about happen on Facebook.

          January 9, 2013 at 4:43 pm

Rain, in addition to what has been said before including Susan’s comment below, if she is using a business FB page for her rants I would say let her know you find it unprofessional and offensive and that IYO it detracts from your business interaction. If she already knows that you are a democrat/do not support her politics then your stance won’t surprise her. I don’t suppose you’d visit her personal facebook page if it’s rife with rw conspiracy theories.

            January 9, 2013 at 4:52 pm

She knows I support PBO 100%. She has most of her business contacts on her Facebook page as well. In the past her posts were occasional and although I disagreed with them, they were infrequent enough that I just ignored them. But lately it is a daily thing, something I see almost every time I log into FB, and more often than not they are a direct slam of PBO, usually calling him a liar. I suppose I could solve the immediate issue by removing her from my newsfeed, so I don’t see her posts unless I visit her page, but the underlying integrity issue is more what bugs me.

              January 9, 2013 at 5:00 pm

Rain, if there’s another source for your supplies, go for it. I would find it hard to deal with someone who’s opinions make me angry and disgusted. Once she put her strong beliefs on Facebook, she opened them to the public. As a member of that public, you now have the right to refuse to do business with her.

Well, Meta said it well about supporting people of integrity. The conversation here suddenly reminded me of those companies who threatened to penalize their workers if they voted for the president, and for those who actually are doing so. Maybe this woman needs a wake-up call. If she actually looses a long-standing solid client or two because of her unfounded and loud hatred of the president it would be good if she knew the reason.

                January 9, 2013 at 5:55 pm

As my friend reminds me all the time, no sense talking about “reason” or reasoning with these people, because they didn’t use reason to come up with their original thoughts. Your premise on losing business might matter, however. What a waste of a mind to hate people like they do, most likely and profoundly, in my mind, nothing to do with the content of the character of the people they detest so much.

    • January 9, 2013 at 4:33 pm

      Hi there Rain.

As a businesswoman, I work every day to keep my political opinions out of my business communication – and am mostly successful. Any political posts are on my personal page. If she is using a business FB page for her rants, I believe that’s unprofessional and she should expect consequences. Hard earned money is a precious resource. You are free to let it flow to whomever you choose.

      • 171 Rain
        January 9, 2013 at 4:34 pm

Thanks, Susan. The rants are on her personal facebook page, although she does communicate with the art community that way. But she does not promote politics on her business website.

        • January 9, 2013 at 4:38 pm

Do you feel you can’t find another equal or better supplier? Otherwise, I wouldn’t stick with someone who has that kind of vitriol for PBO in their hearts. Yes, business is business, but if I have a choice, I always support people of integrity. JMO.

Rain – My personal opinion is to ditch her. Perhaps, if you did, you could do a canvass first, to make sure your next supplier is not a RWNJ and could give you the same quality supplies. Unless she’s a sole-source supplier, I’d tell her why you’re leaving when you do, even if it’s just a written message, without allowing any response. Those people suck the life out of you, and the more you have dealings with her, it’s possible she’ll feel she knows you well enough to “share” that stuff. Since I long ago stopped thinking we could change their hearts and minds when they’re that far gone, I’d run for my life if I were you.

Of course, it’s entirely your choice, and I am notorious for drawing a line and never erasing it when affronted by this type of nonsense – I’ve boycotted many… Your other option is just to not read her Facebook page…

Who could blame anyone for wanting to move back to California from DC? The political environment is toxic in DC at the highest level of government. The weather stinks and people are either continually backstabbing or currying favor. Plus if she has any family life, it’s probably been disrupted at every turn by the pressure of the job. She has done a great job. I hope she gets time to rest and then plan a future that works for her talents. She can really do anything. As a smart, gifted, political pro, she could try for governor of CA or run for Senate or whatever. Remember Elizabeth Dole used her job as Transportation Sect. as a springboard for running (unsuccessfully, thank God) for president. Hilda Solis is still young–her options are wide open.

It is par for the course that people leave most cabinet positions after one term. It’s a high-stress and relatively low-paying job. And I would wager that the past four years were particularly grueling due to the circumstances that existed when PBO took office.

GM from my world. I think the attacks on the President re diversity should be treated as the stupid that they are. The old boys white network attacking a president who has done more to support the rights of EVERY American – because they say he doesn’t have diversity in his appointments. (The sad thing being the very few intelligent women in the media who manage to believe the b..s..). What administration have they all been watching that no-one else has seen. The FoxNews folks must be jubilant because the media is following their leads – all the time.

Seems to me President Obama finds the best people available for the job. Working for this administration would be so rewarding but very much stressful at the same time. The constant attacks from the media and the right seem never ending – the drama that the Senate insists must be done to even get appointed seems way past what most people consider is wanted or needed. The republicans in congress are doing themselves no favors – in all likelihood these attacks are ensuring every day the absolute demise of the GOP. The media is proving its irrelevance again and again

Great rant Don! But do you remember when the media people were all over President Obama for appointing those two women to the Supreme Court? He was accused of being anti-white males. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, the so called mainstream media are ruining this country with their obsession with promoting sensationalism. In his first term, President Obama had five women in the Cabinet. Two have stepped down, which leaves three. He has not yet finished making appointments. So all this talk about him being anti-women is absolutely aimed at inflaming people; especially women. I know they’ve chosen women reporters/pundits to spread this nonsense about President Obama being anti-women. I, however, trust the vast majority of American women to be able see through all this media manufactured BS about the President’s attitude towards women.

Yes Indeed, extine! Hilda L. Solis is a classy person who, for four years, really worked very hard to advance the interests of working people. She deserves some time off. I should love for her to run for Governor of California in 2014, in case Jerry Brown decides not to run. There is also a possibility that Senator Barbara Boxer may retire in 2016, and Hilda can run for the U.S. Senate to replace her.

I love these games, in 2016 everyone will finally realize that President Obama was a once in a life time President. If Hillary or Christie think that they can top President Obama, good luck with that.

Can you visualize people in Ghana, Ireland, India, UK, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, etc., coming out in droves to great Pres. Chris Christie?

That’s exactly what it is. Hillary had to go and ruin their love fest by showing vulnerability by her recent medical issues. So they have all landed as a group in Chris Christie’s lap. Someone better than Obama, they convey. Tweety just squealed how much fun it would be to be press secretary in a Chris Christie presidency. He appeared just thrilled by the prospect. It was icky.

Yes dotster3, there literally playing the NJ SOS speech on a constant loop. Also Cuomo wont do any press, so the the Acela corridor D.C>NYC media establishment, just throw every camera in front of him at every opportunity.

      • January 9, 2013 at 6:10 pm

I am also sick of seeing his fat face on the news. As someone wrote, his put down of his party let them know what it’s like to be a teacher in NJ. Let’s not forget he campaigned for the very people he put down. He’s disgusting and I hope the dems can put someone up to beat him. Except for his performance regarding Sandy, NJ is in worse financial shape than when he took office. That needs to come out.And by the way it took three disasters for him to get his responses correct.

I hope that Hagel is nominated, I think he will be perfect as the new face of the Obama Administration’s Policy as it relates to the Middle East and around the world. Yes, what he said about gays is vile. In my life, I too have said vile things about people. To be honest, I do think I could get elected dog catcher if all my thoughts and words were made public.

The bigger issue to me is the idea of House Republicans writing rules that require them to break a law passed by Congress and signed by the President. I have to wonder if a Congress has ever done that before.

We just said you can tell she has access to the finest in hair and makeup, the best salons in NY City. Brand new sparkling white teeth too! Wardrobe always top tier. Trolling for Chris Christie, however, put a damper on all that high end loveliness.

I got the feeling, though, that she kept trolling for Christie so that every time she mentioned his name, she could add “and my father.” Methinks she could really not care less about Christie!

Again. He did before with Akin…..the Rape/ shut the whole thing guy from MO.

But, but, but……in 2012, the media pretended not to have noticed the many bills Ryan had sponsored limiting Women’s right and giving rights to Zygotes.

        January 9, 2013 at 7:36 pm

The media also failed to notice that their “star”, Paul Ryan, had only passed two nonsense bills in his entire time in Congress. Paul Ryan has failed in life, because he’s never actually and seriously tried to do anything in life. He just makes a lot of noise, gets a following, and then is rescued by circumstance from leading that group off a cliff. He’s a disaster.
