Good morning everyone!!!
Good morning TOD.
OMG! Ms Chips, you could have stayed in bed, but instead collected hundreds of headlines to share with us!! What a terrific job you did yesterday (as you have done every day), THANK YOU again from the bottom of my heart! I loved your insights on the last thread (has taken until now to catch up), also the Seamus Heaney poem was perfect. What an awesome day it was, and a great deal of the joy was enhanced so much because of this wonderful blog. Hugs to you!
HUGE thanks Andogriff, what a wonderful day – made better by all you people’s company!!! Thank you again.
You are a MACHINE!! Love you for all you do! Thank you!!
Ha, thank you Dudette!!!!!!! 🙂 Still in a haze after yesterday, so many blissful moments, I need a month to think about them all!
Me too. Work’s gonna agonizing!
Ugh! [head smack] Already with the bad typing – “Work’s gonna BE agonizing!” 🙄
You are pure awesomeness!!!
Just a little bit of gloatage… just a little.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022228293
🙂 “gloatage” I LOVE THAT!!! Kind of like when I say, “gription” (as in, the cats were flying around the tile floor because they couldn’t get any gription)
I agree with all that….morning, Dudette! Morning, TOD!
I forgot…congrats, Donna!!
Tee-hee! I like “gription” 🙂
Such a handy “word” 🙂
Thanks Dudette, had to pass that one around!
Epic gloat. I love it!
hahaha! that was epic.
Dang, that was fun. sorta cleared a bunch of stuff
outta my throat. Thank you, Dudette. okay: Forward. xoxoxo
BEAUTIFUL!
LOVED IT! Now *that* is what you call gloating perfection!
Nice.
Oh yes, good morning everyone, and congrats on first, Donna!
Good morning TODers. It has been a great weekend. Thank you Chips for making this the BEST site for all things inaugural. The pics, vids and commentary have been awesome. You made me feel as though I was right there in DC the whole weekend. Love and hugs to you 🙂

PBO & VP Biden to attend prayer service this morning.
Good morning. I want to thank Chips again for the wonderful work she did yesterday. It was incredible. And all of you folks are just terrific.
Wow, these front pages are magnificent! I only wish Mrs. Boehnor wasn’t in so many of the pics!
Love that pic of PBO looking back and his family behind him all paused and looking back as well for one last look at the crowd.
That’s my favourite, too.
Boy, is it hard changing gears this morning, having sat around all weekend watching all the festivities. Thanks for posting all the wonderful headlines Chips.
thank you, Chips. I was just coming to ask if anyone had front pages. \
can’t wait for the international ones.
Chica, you are amazing.
Here I was thinking that you were maxin’ and relaxin’ and here YOU are, posting another incredible thread.
There should be another millions hits after the amazing “inauguration series’ of TOD posts. I know that I told at least half a million people about it! 😆 😆
🙂 Thank you Isonprize!!!!! It’s a joy to do, an absolute joy!!
Dear Chipsticks,
Thank you for being such an effective blogger. All the news was right here for those of us, like me, that didn’t make it to Washington, DC. Thank you.
Also I extend a heartfelt gratitude to TODVille members who from time to time supplement this blog with very informative links that I would have otherwise missed.
The beautiful pictures are breathtaking. I printed many for my own memento-album.
Yesterday was the beginning of the 2nd four year-presidency we fought so hard for. I intend to participate actively in OFA to protect and defend the President’s agenda. This President changed me for the better. Never again will I stand silent in any elections, even the ones that appear so trivial, i.e. assemblyman. These elections matter; my voice matters. I know that now. And if it is up to me, never will a republican be elected to any office because of the rigidity of their views. The government must be the tangible presence of the common good. It is not there for corporations, and corporations are NOT people. A government is there to serve WE THE PEOPLE, to enable us to pursue our liberty, freedom and happiness. It is there to do for us what individually we cannot accomplish. It is there to reflect our collective views and not to marginalize those of the majority. Until republicans retract from their obsession of small government, albeit one that can go way up a woman’s vagina, I can’t even have a decent discussion with them. Not to mention their obsession with matters that must remain private, i.e. religion.
I am so grateful for this President. I thank him for putting his life on the line for the greater good. I feel so privileged to live these times, to be part of History, to be able to share my thoughts with you.
Have a great day, and keep up the good work.
NCLB
Amen, NCLB. If we could convince even a fraction of our fellow citizens to turn out for the little ones–assemblyman, school board, court of common please judges–we could turn this country around from the ground up. Yesterday, PBO showed us what it means to be a citizen. He made it a high calling that we all need to reach. I love when he extended his “oath of office” to all of us. It’s the implied oath all of us make as citizens. Very powerful.
Excellent post, NCLB!
hip, hip….hooray! thanks, nclb!!
Not sure know what time the National Prayer Service starts, C-Span says its coverage starts at 10:0, but everywhere else says 10:45 – anyone know for sure??
Chips, I didn’t believe it was possible that you could wake up and have the energy to bring so much goodness to us. What a fantastic sampling of coverage form all over the country. Yesterday you took all the gold. Gabby Douglas on the bars and Midori Ito doing triple axels. I don’t know how you did it or what what wells of energy you dug into, but what you gave us yesterday was a master class in political blogging that I challenge anyone anywhere to duplicate. Many of us, far from the nation’s capital, were actually THERE because of you. We felt it, cried about it, wondered at it and shared the love with each other as if we were all there, side by side, hugging one other and holding hands. This blog is, on an everyday basis, an amazing achievement. But yesterday and this morning, you lifted it higher. I am just plain in awe of what you do.
Jackie, you also speak for me!!
Oh Jackie, thanks a million for your beautiful words! It was such a special day and, as I said, it was wonderful to share it with you all – thank you again.
Another request!
One of the gang emailed me to ask if I could do a screen grab of this moment – “Do you recall the colonial fife and drum or bugle corps (whatever they are called) that marched in the parade? Do you recall the soldier who took off the 3-cornered hat (that the teabaggers tried to steal, which President Obama took back in a patriotic, symbolic gesture today) and waved it in a flourish toward his Commander in Chief in the reviewing stand?”
Can anyone identify that moment in a video??
Thanks!
Didn’t find anything yet on the hat-flourishing, Ms Chips…but while searching I just saw this quote from the Des Moines Register: “Those two (Sens. Harkin and Grassley) are really hysterical,” Pedrick said. “I heard somebody in the crowd say they reminded them of the two old guys from the Muppets. And it’s really kind of true.”
Harkin verbally tweaked Grassley about his reputation as a prolific user of Twitter. “And Grassley was saying, ‘Yeah, but none of my tweets went out, and everybody’s going to think I didn’t comment on the president’s speech because I’m a Republican, but my tweets just didn’t go out.’ And Harkin said something about how Sen. Grassley has the fastest thumbs he’s ever seen.”
I think it was during the review of the troops while POTUS, FLOTUS, the VEEP & Dr. Biden were standing on the Capitol steps. Is that possible?
Here’s the video–the hat flourishing is at the 5:12 mark–if this is what you mean.

Thanks a million Pam!
Chipsticks, thank you so much for the awesome coverage yesterday! We went to the inauguration yesterday to be in the crowd and get the full experience, and we knew that when we came home, we’d be able to catch up on all the stuff we missed to get the rest of the story of the day. You surpassed all our expectations. What a wonderful day of coverage. Thank you!!
Irony alert: Someone mentioned yesterday that Phil Mickelson was complaining about his taxes being so high he might quit golf or leave the country. As a child he played and developed his golf game at Torrey Pines Golf Course, a municipal course owned by the City Of San Diego. The PGA is playing this week at Torrey Pines. Could he be so stupid not to know that municipal golf courses are possible because of taxes?
We’ve established that the right wingers don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. They should never hold positions of responsibility or power – they’ve proven that they’re not capable of managing either. Most of them have benefited from the government in some way – many ways – and most of them benefited from a string of lucky circumstances and wouldn’t be able to recreate the conditions of their “success”. This is why they don’t want to give up a dollar or an iota of their privilege – because they know they are extremely lucky and they couldn’t recreate their wealth. The hard work they call others to do to become rich has little to do with their own conditions of success.
Well, I was only able to hop into here a couple times yesterday, so I did a quick perusal of the 5,000,000 posts that Chips put up. I think she covered everything. My thoughts, such as they are, were basically revolving around what a wonderful day it was. The left loved it and the right is whining. In other words, it was perfect.
Chips, people have mentioned multiple times what a yeoman’s job you did, so I won’t add to that. Let me just say that if anybody ever wants to have a history of yesterday, this is the only place they woudl have to go. I would hopefully request that you collect all 5,000,000 posts into a single link on the sidebar so that people can relive the day whenever they want to.
Great idea, Japa!!
You’re lovely Japa, thank you so much. Excellent idea about the link in the sidebar, going to do it right now! Thank you again.
Good morning Chips and TOD family. What a glorious morning after! Those front pages are wonderful. I am still so on a high. Being here at TOD was so emotional. Thank you Chips.
Good Morning, Everyone. I slept like a baby. So glad and grateful, that PBO is still in charge of this great country. Now, let’s get to work!!
An early heads-up!

Good Morning, TODobots! Good Morning, Ms Chips! Thank you for this wonderful selection of front pages. It does seem, from this representative look, that several media people got the unity, togetherness, bipartisanship, equality, ‘progress’ message. Good!
VC, did you go to DC? Are you home now? Have you given us details. I’m running slow this morning. Good to see you posting.
Carolmae: Yes. No. Not yet. TY, good to be able to sneak in, something I don’t do well when traveling.
The New York Times and the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review decided to use that scary word “LIBERAL” in their headlines.
The Tribune-Review’s whole headline is “A New Liberal Era – Obama defends entitlements, gay rights”.
That’s the only message that they heard from the Presidents call to action. Sad, but indicative of the fights to come.
Happy first day of the Presidents next four years!
Yo, ho, ho O’s!!!!!!! If it ain’t just a great gettin up day this fine morning!!!!! Miss Chips I’d imagine you too pooped to pop today. But nooooooo, here you are greeting the dawn with the most wonderfulest, magnificantest, lip-smacking goodest, stuffs one could possibly hope to read.
I have hereby dubbed you ‘Madam All Things to All O’s and Then Some’
Hello everyone. Chips, did you sleep? Please know you are my Sunshine every day. I’m so glad I found your Obama Diary. It will be a pleasure going FORWARD with TOD. I don’t comment much because it takes so much time with my slow Internet service, but I’m trying to keep up. Thank you for changing my Internet world for the better. Yesterday was grand. I’d never see these wonderful pics if it weren’t for you because of my slow surfing world. I’m listening to the Senate debate now on Cspan for the filibuster. I hope it turns out right. Bless all those who contribute to make TOD thoughtful and playful and informative.
