You aren’t trying to jump start my competitive spirit, are you friend Pamela? I tell you now it won’t work. I’m a reformed character; at least my legs are re-formed. They don’t respond now as readily as they did in my younger TOD days.
Thank you all for the conspiracy theories. π I do have a secret, but I don’t know what it is. π I do enjoy the friendly competition. I’m just glad I found this place.
Too funny. Reminds me of when I used to work for the military, and we all had security clearances, which allowed us to see classified material. The Security Officer had a little fun sign on his desk: “The secrecy of my job prevents me from knowing what I am doing.” (He got it as a gift, so you can figure that one out.)
Perhaps these senators should Make Israel the 51st state. That way, they can stop with the pretenses that a DoD nominee confirmation has anything to do with the state of Israel.
So, American troops are fighting and dying in Afghanistan and other places, fighting against Al Q. But, the questions for the man who will be responsible for their safety and well-begin focused on two trouble-making countries of Israel and Iran, where no troops are currently fighting and dying? Anyone who believes the GOP care about the troops is deluding themselves.
I didn’t get a chance to see the Hagel inquisition but NBC —Kelly O’Donnell—did a hatchet job on him in reporting on it tonight—-not prepared etc. The little snippets I have seen of McCain and Lindsey Graham’s questioning was pure bullying and disrespectful to the point of embarrassment and shame. And only Israel seems to matter at all.
The real takeaway from today should be the disproportionate and unhealthy role that Israel plays in our foreign policy discourse
Bingo. Hagel bleed for this nation. Fought for this nation. Served in the senate for NE and at no time did Israel factor in those services. His oath was to defend our Constitution. These senators are dereliction of their duties, period.
For anyone to say he was ill prepared for this hearing is to be lyin’. He had facts and figures and reasoning on his side. None of the questioners would know what they wrote or said in 1998, but Hagel did and quoted his thoughts then – and now – when appropriate. He stopped short of engaging in foolish discussion, because he sized up through his steely glance when it was just to irk him or give something to the teafolks at home. Give me a man or woman at the helm at the Defense Department who means business, is on board for a serious purpose, and (I can’t get enough of this one) doesn’t suffer fools gladly ~ any day ~ over the wimps askin’ the damn moronic questions some staffer handed ’em. Okay, I’m ready to vote for Hagel. Where do I line up?
I was passing by those lobby news screens today & saw a blurb from Wall Street Journal about Dow being on track for it’s best January since 1994. Yes, not a typo! 1994. It’s PBO’s fault, dammit! π
And happy I am that you do! π Also, I seem to remember waving to you up on the podium not too long ago, way AFTER the beginning of time. :l Hang in there, your turn will come again, especially if you move over to the east coast. π π π

I could only watch for a few moments. If you’ve ever lost a family member to violence, the scab is easily ripped off when such a thing happens to another. I feel it every time I see a parent crying on TV. It leaves me raw. She will NEVER get over the loss. My mother took my sister’s death to her grave.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It was extremely hard to watch. She broke down several times, but Rev. Al was very respective and broke away to a photo of her beautiful daughter when necessary. She would have grown into a wonderful young woman. I haven’t been able to post much since I watched it. I hate what the rethugs did to Hagel too.
Not yet, don’t quote me, but I think we have Lew and now LaHood’s replacement to go. Of course, now that Choo Choo Charlie Rendell (he has ridden a train from Philly to DC) took himself out of the running for Transportation Secty, PBO is left in a lurch to name someone as important as ol’ Choo Choo.
btw, Choo Choo is not to be mistaken for Chu from Energy. Who, I believe is staying or leaving, one or the other I’m sure.
Lew doesn’t have to be confirmed. He’s Chief of Staff. I do think there’s Brennin (sp) who has to go thru it though. I’ve never posted a comment that went on for so long about something that I have no clue about what I’m trying to say.
Please disregard this comment. Oops, too late, I hit the ‘post comment’ button.

Hi everyone. It’s my birthday, and I worked like a dog today. Two different court hearings, then back to the office for more work just getting home to catch up on all the happenings.
Thanks, Theo!! I’ve got to fix dinner and then relax to read all the good stuff here later on. Thank God tomorrow is Friday, always a light day for me.
Africa, Happy Birthday. Even while you’re doing that which you do, take moments to celebrate that you have been granted another year and enjoy. π π
Africa, late as it is, I hope you get a little birthday joy out of the day. If not, set aside some time this weekend to treat yourself. You deserve the best! Happy Birthday.
I grabbed the link off a tweet that was posted a short while ago. May have been Knoller. I thought I saw tomorrow—-but I have been known to be mistaken—-once or twice—:) so can’t swear by the date.
Ha, we were not allowed to dance to, and especially not sing the lyrics to “Funky Broadway’ The word Funky was not said in polite company and certainly not by ladies in good societal standing.
Back in the 1960s when I was a student in Italy, Wilson Pickett was very popular there. He was a triumph at the San Remo Festival. He was great singing in Italian.
I’m fortunate to still have the record and my life. Someone put it on at my 8th grade graduation party. My Mom came down the stairs and just stuck her hand out, didn’t say a word. The kid closest to the record player took it off and gave it to her. I swear, my Mom’s generation was the master of non-verbal communication!
Ha, ha, my best friend had an 8th grade graduation party in the basement of her home. Nearly an hour into it, someone shouts out, ‘cookepreteen’ your mom is upstairs!’ Talk about wanting to just hide under the stairs. Of course she said she was planning to visit my best friends mom all the time. Just a coincidence the visit was on the same night.
Hell, I live in a real small town and if you did make curfew, a mother would have no problem showing up at the door in bathrobe and pink sponge rollers, belt or switch in hand. Needless to say, I always made it around the corner just as my Mom was about to leave our house!
I will have to say, my Mom was kind of cool. I usually had a party about once a month; of course, there was a method to my Mother’s madness — if the party was at our house, she could keep an eye on me!
Did anyone see the tweet @MarkKnoller deleted about an hour ago?
Was appalled; paraphrase:
PBO to Hagel: Are you qualified for SecDef?
Hagel response: No, I am not.
Computer hung up so I was unable to take a screenprint.
MSM (Chuck “Flip someone off while I’m on camera” Todd, Mark “How many rounds of golf has PBO played?”) and Luke (I’m learning my lessons from my mentor Chuck Todd) Russert all sent despicable tweets about the hearing today.
Steve Clemons: (will be on Maddow’s show tonight)
.@aniekan_o @SCClemons think Hagel will get confirmed? Yes I do. 70-30
He corrected it – but is maybe still trying to imply that Sen Hagel said he was not qualified – Hagel said he was not “uniquely qualified”
Correcting and expanding previous quote from Hagel on his discussion with Pres Obama about being DefSec:
“I didn’t try to sell him on the job that I could do it. In fact, when he asked me about why am I qualified, or why would I be uniquely qualified, I said, “I’m not.” There are a lot of qualified Americans who could do this job. I don’t think a lot of them in the sense of they’re out there everywhere. I think there are some qualifications for this job, but I’m not the only one.”
It’s kind of strange to think that President Obama conducts standard interviews, with standard interview questions, for some of these critical jobs. I’ve been asked the same question in interviews – as I’m sure many people have been asked the same question. Just seems strange and normal.
Oh, forgot to say that I HATED the petulant way that Graham and McCain bullied Hagel, treated him like he was 8 years old.
Gee, who else does the GOP treat as a “boy?” Just infuriating.
Direct quote from Lindsey: “Do you agree you shouldn’t have said something like that?”
McCain is all surge, all the time (like Giuliani and 9-1-1).
Didn’t see Ted Cruz (thankfully) but here’s what BritHume had to say:
Cruz is bullying Hagel. He needs to let him finish his answers. Unimpressive round of questioning. https://twitter.com/BuzzFeedAndrew/status/
I’d say that NRA members should feel free to CALL THE NRA and voice their disgust for this organization and resign their membership. SInce the NRA is all about the money, that should make them sit up and pay attention!
I don’t think nothing of Karl Malone, I never like him when he played basketball. And Tom Selleck. I will not watch anything with Selleck on it. I never thought anything of Ted Nugent or Oliver North. But Selleck, when that NRA ad came out using the President’s daughters in it I thought Selleck would step forward and say let’s leave the kids out of this discussion, but he didn’t and I say to hell with him, he is just as sick as the NRA leaders. And I will not watch any more of his garbage.
Here was a little uplifting of my day yesterday. I was chatting with a person in my district with whom I am friends on facebook. I have known her for a long time and always assumed she was pretty conservative. After friending her I discovered she was a real Obama supporter. Yesterday I was in her office talking to her about the recent election. She said her dad had grown up in the deep south and was 93 years old, so you can imagine the culture he grew up in. Well, he voted for Pres. Obama in both elections. She was really proud of him. I think there are many stories like this out there that we don’t get to hear. We hear the racist crazies – the last malignant pus squeezed from a long festering wound. But there is so much healing going on and I think that will become more apparent throughout this next term. This is part of the work President Obama has been called to do.
Lovely – I’ve also been shocked by a few people whom I thought were real hard core conservatives, only to hear them speak so eloquently about President Obama. It’s wonderful!
y’all are making me enjoy reliving my youth so much tonight I actually forgot about the abysmal hearings I watched all day….How about some James Brown…PLEASE!
Absolute truth, Bob. The guns are a sign of sickness and those who want unlimited numbers of unregulated guns are the sickest of all. I have lost the ability to retweet from TOD today, so I’m feeling frustrated. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
βThere was one thing that sort of troubled me in the discussion about it β nobody was particularly quoted; they attributed something to governorβs office and others β was that the governor would want to appoint someone whoβs either a minority or a woman.β Frank told the Washington Blade. βAnd what troubled me is the question of LGBT people was just kind of swept out. Iβve never asked for any appointment based on me being gay, but when they begin talk about the importance of diversity and leave us out, that troubles me.β
According to the Blade, Cowanβs appointment was βhailed a milestone for diversity in terms of race because heβs black,β but Frank felt that those involved in the decision making process must have missed President Obamaβs inaugural address.
βItβs almost as if some people didnβt listen to the president when he said, βSeneca, Stonewall and Selma,β and didnβt hear the Stonewall part,β he said.
Frank added that being the first married, openly gay person in the Senate could have given the other Senators βan important lessonβ to take home.
I like Barney Frank, but the seat will be open, so why don’t he run for it if he wants it that bad. I am kind of getting fed up with this. The Governor chose who he wanted, deal with it and shut up. I thought Frank wanted to get out of politics, if he didn’t then why did he leave the House. Enough please.
The NRA’s focus on mental illness as a primary reason for the abundance of murders that take place, is a distraction from the real culprits.
Let me start by saying this; Power is an attribute that needs to be exercise, whether you are a human being or an animal. A person that has weaponry fire power in their possession will inevitably create an opportunity for them to use it, because the undisciplined human nature (not the spiritual nature) appeals to the must gutter part of our souls.
Every human soul has the propensity to commit murder and those who do not think so, will be apt to commit a murder for like of discipline.
So let me come back to this mental illness distraction NRA is perpetuating. It is a distraction, because most murders are committed by those who do not fit a mental illness profile. You do not have to agree with me, but to think that the abundance of murders/mass murders are only committed by mental ill people, is extremely naΓ―ve and dangerous.
I seem to recall one Saturday night that Dudette and I were up nearly ALL NIGHT bringing the funk to TOD π Do you remember that night, Dudette? That was fun…. love this family:)
Do you all have to play the music so loud? Some of us are trying to sleep, here, plus, this every night partying does not set a good example for the young people in the village. π
/That should put a lid on it / Teeheehee! π

π π Just kidding. Stirring up the masses since Chips isn’t here to do it with her pictures.
Have a terrific party night, Africa and friends! Do remember if you drink, don’t drive.
Watching McCain on Maddow show – His screeching demand for a yes/no answer – was similar to Lawrence yelling at the Mom who needed her weapons of mass destruction. It makes the questioner look arrogant & inflamed – as McCain looked today.
McCain has been out of reality since about 2000 – good analysis of the hearing on Rachel’s show
LL went and posted Afrika Bambaata and Kraftwerk, I’m looking for Giorgio Moroder and Yellow Magic Orchestra. WHAT????
No wonder I stayed skinny back in the day!! LOLOLOL Gotta run, but I’ll be back in DJ mode this weekend. Of course, Marvin Gaye had some party tunes that 1) had you jammin’ and 2) played like, 30 minutes! (I know that’s an exaggeration, but not by much…)
Peace, y’all.
P.S. BIG UPS to Chuck Hagel. He’s holding it down and I think, after all is said and done, he will be confirmed. He is what his haters will NEVER be. An honorable ENLISTED American! (an a Republican, at that, so he KNOWS how they operate…) Love him!!
well, I’m so glad this day is over for Hagel’s sake. He shed some blood today in order to meet the petty needs of some craven asshole bastards i.e.: McBitters, now they just have to vote and he will get the post because establishment repukes and democrats will vote for him. I hope McBitters got to adequately vent his spleen because it’s over. he’ll remain a bitter old man in the Senate till next year where hopefully he’ll be voted out, and Chuck Hagel will be Sec of Defense for the next 4 years. McBitters is so dumb and so short-sighted. His entire legacy is now for shit. Idiot. π
I saw none of it live – but the current talk on Rachel’s show I’m finding very good. Apparently very little about current/future policy was even discussed – McCain went slightly insane about getting Hagel to relive the war in Iraq.
I’m almost certain that Hagel and PBO had some earlier laughs about what would transpire today – and that the GOP’s line of questioning and “attacks” on him would have everything to do with PBO and nothing to do with Hagel.
So I suspect Hagel left the hearing feeling that things went EXACTLY as expected.
Lisa, he killed his legacy a long time ago and i’m actually glad he’s showing people what a disgusting, rude and deeply disturbed bastard he really is. Arizona may continue to give this guy a Senate seat, but he hasn’t a shred of credibility left. Younger generations must look at him and say, Who is that Crazy loon and what’s he going on about.
The was THE JAM back in the day. But now I can’t hear it without seeing Cedric the Entertainer “parallel parking” in The Kings of Comedy! Curse you Ceddie! π
Is anyone following the special election in late February to replace Jesse Jackson, Jr. in Congress? Any Chicagoans out there? I don’t know why I wasn’t paying attention but did see that one of the main Democratic contenders is very anti-gun control. On the good side is a candidate named Robin Kelly (http://robinkellyforcongress.org/about-robin/). I read a bit about her and gun control is her BIG issue. It would be horrible in the middle of this new push for gun control to have the wrong person win that primary. I believe I’ll donate something to Kelly. Any opinions about her or the race would be appreciated.
Sandy Hook chorus to sing with Jennifer Hudson before the Super Bowl. (knew about the chorus, didn’t know they would be singing with Jennifer Hudson—-America the Beautiful)
Sorry to spoil the funk party, but there was a shooting at my school today. Thank God, only one student was hurt ( one is even too many). It could have been worse. I spent most of the lock- down time under a desk, so all I know came from the news. I am really scared about going to school tomorrow. It always felt as if something was going to happen. I was not surprised when the shooting started at all. Weird .
Hope you get over feeling scared soon. I’m so sorry you had go through this. I’ve been mourning all day because of the things I’ve seen and heard on news. Please feel free to talk here if you feel you need to. I know the others wouldn’t mind.
Thank you cm. I am just so exhausted from all that nervous energy today. I just think about if I had not been late to the court yard,I may have gotten shot, I don’t know. It is a rather unsettling feeling.
Take care of yourself; give yourself time to process this and to feel however you feel. If you need to take some time off, do so. People often forget that teachers are as affected by events such as this much as their students (I have been a teacher for 30 years).
((((HUGS)))) Dona. Listening to your favorite music might help calm you down. Do you want to think of it tonight or do you want to take your mind off what happened? You may have your own way to wind down. Another thing that helps me sort things out is to write it down. Handwriting or typing on the computer, privately, or where ever you feel comfortable. Do what you think is good for you. My thoughts are with you and the others in your school.
That is a terrible shame. I heard about it on the news. What a sad experience for teachers and students when everyone is already tense over Newtown. Be kind to yourself. You probably found a courage inside yourself today which you didn’t even know you had. Hold tight to that.
So sorry this happened to you and glad that you are safe. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time. There are more good people than bad and many are working on making this a safer place for all our children. We are holding you in our thoughts.
Thank you to whoever posted the link to hear Beyonce sing the National Anthem earlier. She sang it beautifully. She looked great. Loved her in that dress.
Holy freaking shit!!!!!!! Tonight’s Scandal was insane. My mind is officially blown. My brain is officially blown. Next week’s episode is going to be out of this world bananas!
I cannot wait. I have theories to share, but will wait until our west coast friends get to see the show before sharing. Scandal is my not-so-guilty pleasure.
My computer caught the funk from all the funky music. It’s going in and out now. There was an important question to Sen. Haggle about sex abuse. He answered he was going to make sure he would fix the problem. He’d seen the documentary Invisible War. That’s a good start anyway. Not going to be easy at all.
I won’t be; however, I encouraged because it is now being openly discussed. Sunlight is the best disinfectant — much different than when I joined in 1974.
I’m so behind but I’ll drop in to say hello! π
Carolmae, you are getting suspiciously good at this! π Congrats!
I believe that carol is vc’s protege. She is a quick study too! π Congrats carolmaewy on #1!

Oh, that was so funny! They probably have secret meetings at Chips’ mountain chalet.

I LOVE MY PRESIDENT!
Preach!!
Already read it years ago, but am enjoying my audiobook. It’s so much better hearing his words in his own voice!
Read it in 2008….that summer.
The audio book is just awesome Dudette. I have listened to it over and over. PBO has such a wonderfully calming voice.
Wonderful tweet.
Love that book. It’s a great story even if the author hadn’t ended up becoming the President of the US. We are so lucky.

Has Jack Lew already gone through his hearings?
I don’t think so.
No
He doesn’t have to. He’s now Chief of staff or am I wrong on that. If he is to be Chief of Staff, they don’t have to go through Senate.
He’s Chief of Staff now but has been nominated to be Treasury Secretary. Denis McDonough is his new Chief of Staff.
That’s right. I am making so many mistakes on this post tonight.
It’s understandable. There’s a lot going on!!

Dear Sunlight Academy Scholar,
Today we launched our latest tool, Docket Wrench, that allows you to examine the submissions and public comments to federal agencies that write rules and regulations. Docket Wrench also identifies similarities among these comments and uncovers the influence in the regulatory process.
Join us for a training on Tuesday, February 5 at 1 pm ET, for an introduction to Docket Wrench and learn how it can be an effective tool for your work. This session will cover basic skills such as searching for agencies, dockets and submitters as well as provide an explanation on comment clustering to explore the impact on regulations. Docket Wrench is already providing results, check out this story that uncovers the influence of the Chamber of Commerce in the regulatory process http://reporting.sunlightfoundation.com/2012/Chamber_of_Commerce/ . NERDS RULE!!!
Who runs the world?….Nerds!
Hey, dotster, the link just says early 2013 — is there another one somewhere that specifically says it’s tomorrow?
Ah… found a WaPo article about one of the National Medal of Science honorees — U of Md physics prof, James Gates. http://wapo.st/WWfh1L
It says the ceremony is tomorrow. π
I grabbed the link off a tweet that was posted a short while ago. May have been Knoller. I thought I saw tomorrow—-but I have been known to be mistaken—-once or twice—:) so can’t swear by the date.
Found it—tomorrow at 2:15
This one song got all the kids in my neighborhood a severe “old fashioned” time out.
Ha, we were not allowed to dance to, and especially not sing the lyrics to “Funky Broadway’ The word Funky was not said in polite company and certainly not by ladies in good societal standing.
Funky, funky Broadway, eh!
Love Funky Broadway:) Funky Nassau…remember?
Is this what you had in mind YOUNGSTER!
π Bad boy:)
DOL! π
even now I blush……well I feign discomfort……still trying to be quite the lady and all. Oh never mind, forget the formality, everybody get down!
I know that’s right, young blood!
Back in the 1960s when I was a student in Italy, Wilson Pickett was very popular there. He was a triumph at the San Remo Festival. He was great singing in Italian.
Damn man. I was in Rome for the Olympics in 9/60 for a few days. Good times.
Ok, want to talk “risquΓ©?” I offer Exhibit A: “The Meditation”
I see it is about to get real crazy up in here. SHAKE YO’ MONEY MAKER!
Mine too. It must have been something in the water OR it was because my folks used lard for cooking. π
Awww, these guys were great. Loved ’em.
My folks didn’t think so. It was too sexy for virgin ears, ha!
Yes I do. 70-30
Hagel is key to implementing PBO’s vision of US role in the world.
Hagel is chance for some good to come from the disastrous Vietnam war.
Sooooooooo want the former Sgt. to be giving marching orders to the pampered Generals; can’t wait.
I think there are some qualifications for this job, but I’m not the only one.”
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/ksu6tp
It’s kind of strange to think that President Obama conducts standard interviews, with standard interview questions, for some of these critical jobs. I’ve been asked the same question in interviews – as I’m sure many people have been asked the same question. Just seems strange and normal.
Another music break. The Thin White Duke muses on mortality and change.
I’m all tingly for the Bowie!!
Brit Hume? Jeez, when Hume comes down on a GOPer, you know it’s bad.
I’d say that NRA members should feel free to CALL THE NRA and voice their disgust for this organization and resign their membership. SInce the NRA is all about the money, that should make them sit up and pay attention!
They don’t care. Most of their money comes from folks that make guns and ammo. I’ll bet there’s some foreign $$ involved too.
Truth …
Yes it is, and I think it is spreading.
Lawrence Wilkerson on Ed Show. I think I’ll watch that part. π
#GunsKillPeople (twitter bomb)
Appropriate. “All this bullshit gonna down”….
Good gin:) GOIN” down π Don’t mind me…celebrating africa’s birthday!
I was just trying to remember the dance song that I liked that always got “beeped” on the radio. This is it! You’ve got great E.S.P.!
π Kindred spirits!
Break it down df. (head bobbing to the music). I use to bump to this real tough. π
y’all are making me enjoy reliving my youth so much tonight I actually forgot about the abysmal hearings I watched all day….How about some James Brown…PLEASE!
sorry…that’s not the one I thought I posted!
It alright though.
Memories…. π
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Amen to this, Bobfr!
PERFECT. Do you mind if I co-opt it word-for-word and e-mail and FaceBook it? (I’m not in the twittersphere yet π )
ok, STUoooPID question. It’s in the public domain and if I was Twitterful I could retweet…retwitter…reeee…you know. You ROCK Bobfr!!!
Brilliant!!!!!
yes!
Absolute truth, Bob. The guns are a sign of sickness and those who want unlimited numbers of unregulated guns are the sickest of all. I have lost the ability to retweet from TOD today, so I’m feeling frustrated. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
Barney Frank on Deval Patrick’s pick of Mo Cowan:
βThere was one thing that sort of troubled me in the discussion about it β nobody was particularly quoted; they attributed something to governorβs office and others β was that the governor would want to appoint someone whoβs either a minority or a woman.β Frank told the Washington Blade. βAnd what troubled me is the question of LGBT people was just kind of swept out.

Sour grapes Barney. You ate at the trough for a long enough time. Take your tired happy ass home!
Right On yardarm756.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, but I never understood the constant Barney Frank love.
exactly – poor loser also too.
Barney Frank is getting on my nerves. Enough already. You were not the only good candidate for this interim Senate post. Deal with it.
Seriously.
Hollah! Run for the open seat if you want it that bad. Otherwise STFU and go home.
Pathetic.
Perfect toon and absolutely right on.
#GunsKillPeople is trending
Did somebody say “funky”?
Truth. Brilliant.
I see your Parliament and raise you Afrika Bambaataa.
Awww hell yeah! π
From the summer of 81 or 82 — I was partying hard in Chi-town!
Wow – haven’t heard about that group in ages!
Happy Birthday to You, Africa……Stevie Wonder Style, Happy Birthday….. Happy Birthday To You…..

I seem to recall one Saturday night that Dudette and I were up nearly ALL NIGHT bringing the funk to TOD π Do you remember that night, Dudette? That was fun…. love this family:)
π π π
This is for Africa!! Get up and shake that thang!!

Do remember if you drink, don’t drive.
or text!! π
Yeah. Or text. (See Maryl, I’m not with it in music, dance, or technology.) π π
We wouldn’t want any Scott-Browniness going on here.
(Hey vc I’m not either!)
Watching McCain on Maddow show – His screeching demand for a yes/no answer – was similar to Lawrence yelling at the Mom who needed her weapons of mass destruction. It makes the questioner look arrogant & inflamed – as McCain looked today.
McCain has been out of reality since about 2000 – good analysis of the hearing on Rachel’s show
Tweeters need to Tweet this out there….
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/01/pro-gun-myths-fact-check
Thanks DF, just tweeted. Hope your doing great. I am fighting the cold. Just keeps hanging on.
What? Y’all thought y’all could party without me??? LOLOLOL π NOT!
You simply CANNOT do funk without this JAM!! CALLING ALL TRUE FUNKATEERS!!!
KNEE DEEP!
Now you don’ got me up outta my chair!! π
Damn, you got me out of my sick bed! Used to not only dance, but roller skate to this jam!
well, I’m so glad this day is over for Hagel’s sake.
Yes, McBitters has lost any respect I had for him. Thinking of all the very bad things he’s done. Is he already up for re-election next year? Yippie.
Let’s just call tonight the last unofficial Inauguration Ball. Hmmm, it needs a name! Snap! Got it!
You are cordially invited this evening to the — TOD Boogie Ball — Wooooooot! Get up and shake your rumps to the FUNK!! π
Where’s Yardarm with my Rick James song?
Oh shit! I plum forgot. I’m on it now. Be back shortly. If Chips doesn’t change the thread.
Is this it or another one?
LOL! Another one – “Give it to me”…but I’m dancing to Super Freak meanwhile π
Thanks!!!
From my Camp Lejeune days —
Party Over Hear!! π
Lawd ha mercy — I’m all kinds of wrong! Hear, here, there… wherevah!! π
After our days there. Did you ever eat at a place called The Pig? Good food and not expensive. π
and my Camp Pendleton days…
OMG! I can just see us dancing to this at school right now!!
I remember dancing to this when I was 15!!!!!
If you don’t call me “old-head,” I won’t call you “ruddie-poot”
ok. I won’t call you “old head”. You may be surprised to hear this but I still sometimes dance around the sofa even today!!!!
ok – at the risk of being at the end of another thread like usual – here is your CUTE FOR THE DAY:
You might need insulin:
A-DOR-A-ABLE! My cheeks hurt from grinning so wide! π π π
I used to wonder why children were called “kids” until I saw baby goats. I got it immediately. LOLOL
I know, right??? I couldn’ t close my mouth due to all the intense CUTE.
Thank you Tally. I went YouTube to watch and checked out my homepage and saw the West Wing Week. It’s been a long week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AFRICA!
My new most favorite Non-TOD tweet!
This one goes out to HOPEFRUIT π π
He’s Rick James, dammit!!
AHA!
THAT’s what I’m talking about – THANKS Kasai!!! π π
:-):-) π You’re welcome!
Oh yeah! Partying big time over here!
Ooops; Scandal is on…
Puhleeeeeeeease, no spoilers for us Scandal lovers who watch on Hulu on Friday morning!
The was THE JAM back in the day. But now I can’t hear it without seeing Cedric the Entertainer “parallel parking” in The Kings of Comedy! Curse you Ceddie! π
LOL @Ceddie. Miss Bernie Mac big time!
Last one from me tonight, Babies! Gotta hop! Love you!!
PBO nominates Ia. Public Defender, Jane Kelly, for 8th U.S. Circuit Ct. of Appeals, would be the 2nd woman to ever serve on the court.
http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2013/01/31/obama-nominates-cedar-rapids-public-defender-to-fill-spot-on-u-s-8th-circuit-court-of-appeals/article
Dotster, that CAN’T be true. Pres Obama doesn’t like women. π
Did someone mention roller skating?
It truly breaks your heart ….
Bobfr, I cried when I saw that on the news earlier tonight.
I’m in Chicago and in that district. It’s very crowded with over a dozen people with a hat in the ring. It’s not as nasty as its gonna get.
Sandy Hook chorus to sing with Jennifer Hudson before the Super Bowl. (knew about the chorus, didn’t know they would be singing with Jennifer Hudson—-America the Beautiful)

LOD is on w/Deval.
Happy Birthday (( Africa )) and wish you many…many…many more π
HOLY SHIT!!!!! SCANDAL!!!!! Mudderfuuker!!!!
I know!!!!! Shit has gotten real!
Hugs to you tonight, Dona. Take care. Is someone going to be available at the school to talk with those who went through it? Just a thought.
How awful; I’m so sorry, Dona. I hope your school will give you and the children the counseling you need to get through this experience. *hugs*
So sorry you had to be there for this – sending all good thoughts
Thank you to whoever posted the link to hear Beyonce sing the National Anthem earlier. She sang it beautifully. She looked great. Loved her in that dress.
Chris Christie Still Loves President Obama http://www.buzzfeed.com/rubycramer/chris-christie-still-loves-president-obama via @rubycramer
Christie. π
Good for him, but some of the things Gov. Christie does as Governor sure doesn’t make me like him.
He’s still a Republican in sheep’s clothing.
Holy freaking shit!!!!!!! Tonight’s Scandal was insane. My mind is officially blown. My brain is officially blown. Next week’s episode is going to be out of this world bananas!
DITTO!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot wait. I have theories to share, but will wait until our west coast friends get to see the show before sharing. Scandal is my not-so-guilty pleasure.
PS. Shonda Rimes is sickkkk!!
Yes she is!!!! OMG!!!!
On behalf of the west coast – Thank you! Can’t wait!!
I thought there was a real scandal. I watch very little network TV.
So what happened in the Hagel hearing ? Did he clear out of the stupid senate committee?
The R’s in the Senate made fools of themselves. They humiliated themselves. I only saw clips. It’s been a long day. Long week.
You mean the clowns show is not yet over?
Oh, I hope it is so over, but it lasted longer than a usual work day for the Senators.
LOLGOP β@LOLGOP

I do appreciate that John McCain is engaged in a nearly never-ending campaign to remind us why we’re glad he is isn’t president.
———————————————————–
My computer caught the funk from all the funky music. It’s going in and out now. There was an important question to Sen. Haggle about sex abuse. He answered he was going to make sure he would fix the problem. He’d seen the documentary Invisible War. That’s a good start anyway. Not going to be easy at all.
I won’t be; however, I encouraged because it is now being openly discussed. Sunlight is the best disinfectant — much different than when I joined in 1974.
I’m encouraged…
If you get a chance watch the Rewrite on LOD. Dr. Begg testifies.
Taps, taps. Lights out. Maintain silence about the decks. Smoking lamp is out in all berthing places. Now taps.
Good night, yardarm!
G’night theo. See ya tomorrow. GOD willing!
Goodnite yardarm. Sleep well
Nite, Yardarm.
