Let’s work together on President Obama’s Second term agenda. Voter suppression should be Número uno. We don’t want all PBO ‘s accomplishments unraveled. Let’ focus on President Obama’s agenda. Ignore or set straight Clinton talk. Tone down talk of 2016. Should we ignore or attack? That’s your prerogative. Concentrate on 2014. Thanks Bobfr and all others for keeping us focused. Gun Safety and protection of 2nd Amendment in the top five. Immigration is high on the list. Nerdy Wonky, or is she utaustinliberal? is a mighty twitter warrior. Women’s issues also need focus. Military families and their individual needs should be sky high on the list. I’ve had an Uncle and Father-in-law die in VA hospitals. They were well taken care of as WWII veterans. They had nowhere else to go. Something must be done for those who serve us. Everything the Presidents has spoken of is a high priority; our educational system, our infrastructure, our research, and investment in our people. Corporations should no longer expect the taxpayer to subsidize their employees for low wages. Parents shouldn’t be working two jobs. They should be teaching their children well. If we want to know why so many gun deaths, look to our lack of connection because of work requirements. Posters here are exceptionally good at working at their job, staying informed and enlightening us and giving us the resources we need to do our part to be “WE THE PEOPLE”. There are also excellent mentors here, helping newbies to learn to tweet, and what to write in letters to our Reps. Chips has resources at the tips of our fingers. Others brighten our days with funnies and photos. I enjoy the diversity at The Obama Diary. Proud to be a part of TODvillage and the posters. I didn’t forget Immigration reform; it’s tremendously beneficial also. Climate change, that’s another one. Others have suggestions too. Please share your priorities. I prefer OFA. I like to stay loyal to my friends. We did right in 2012; we can to it again. #FORWARD.

LOL. Just spoke with my Mom, mentioned Philly was 3rd from last — her response “they may have been 3rd, but they treated Jackie the WORST.” 56 years after Jackie retired, my Mom still feels visceral pain due to the racist treatment Jackie endured.

WASHINGTON — House Republicans are poised to approve a measure that would stop the National Labor Relations Board from conducting business until a dispute over the president’s recess appointments to the agency is resolved.

The bill is a response to a federal appeals court decision in January, which ruled that President Barack Obama violated the Constitution by filling vacancies on the board without Senate confirmation.

The White House says the court’s decision is flawed and is appealing to the Supreme Court. But Republicans claim the agency lacks any legitimacy to issue decisions.

The bill is expected to pass Friday but is not expected to gain traction in the Senate. Obama has threatened a veto.

Obama is seeking Senate confirmation of five nominees to the board – three Democrats and two Republicans.

    Republicans are anti-worker’s rights.

OK, I just want to know who, how, and what do they use to keep that prez table so shiny and dust free in picture 1. Also in pic 2, is that guy gonna catch the ball, or is he just standing there waiting to be conked on the head? Then there’s pic 3, BO always looks like he’s standing on tip toe to me. That’s a bit unsettling, cause I want to just see his paws flat on the ground. Lastly, pic 4, well you know how I feel about pic 4 and if I type how I feel, I’ll have to go get my naughty mat out of the cleaners. It’s been there since the last time I saw that pic.

Just saw tv that Jonathan Winters has passed away. Christmas-time 1978, my Mom and brother visited me in California. We spent a couple of days up in LA. One day we were having lunch at a Howard Johnson’s near Century City. Shortly are we were seated, Jonathan Winters was seated at the table next to us — my Mom exclaimed “it’s the Hefty man!” I wanted to slide under the table! Mr. Winters was very gracious, he and my Mom started chatting, next thing you know, he was seated in our booth, where he stayed until his guests arrived. When we were ready to leave, we asked for our check and were informed that Mr. Winters was taking care of it. Nice man.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s latest plan to raise monthly Medicare premiums for upper-income retirees would significantly expand the number who would be expected to pay more..

Details are in a table the administration released Friday after Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified at a budget hearing in Congress.

Starting in 2017, there would be nine income brackets on which the higher premiums would be charged. There are only four now.

This year’s version of the plan would raise $50 billion over 10 years, a significant increase from what Obama proposed last year.

If the plan were in effect today, a retiree making $85,000 would pay nearly $168 a month for outpatient coverage, compared to $146.90 currently.

Republicans are interested, but most Democrats don’t like the plan.

This should bring the whiny Liberal Dems in Congress back in front of the mic’s.

Tom Harkin ( who I like ) was out today bashing the budget .

      April 12, 2013 at 2:52 pm

You know, I just don’t have a problem with tiered premiums. If Dems were smart, they would co-sign the President’s plan and use it as leverage to cut loopholes, both corporate and top 1%.

      April 12, 2013 at 3:20 pm

Unfortunately, it is the “I don’t want any change” attitude among some Dems that will cause Medicare to go bankrupt. PBO is trying to make the kinds of changes that will extend the life of Medicare, but the heads in the sand crowd won’t listen. This kind of tiered pricing isn’t going to break anybody and it may save the program for the future. If changes like this aren’t made, we’ll see the “voucher” monster raise its head again and that will put health care beyond the reach of many seniors.

    • 136 nathkatun7
      April 12, 2013 at 8:50 pm

So, paying $21 more a month ($252 a year) than they currently pay, in order to preserve and strengthen Medicare, is such a huge burden to people making $85,000 a year?

I wonder if Romney were President today whether we would be getting any line-by-line media reports of his annual income, charities and taxes paid. I don’t recall any other President’s salary annual tax return being scrutinized, dissected and heavily reported in the media as this current First Family. Do we REALLY need to know that they made 183K less in 2012 than they did in 2011?

How is that related to job creation, gun control, immigration, education, medical research, same sex marriage, poverty, or such issues that people are concerned about?!?!?

Actually, this has become an annual rite of Spring and well predates PBO’s time in office. I think we are more sensitive to it after all the issues made concerning Romney’s last year.

Okay – that’s good to know. I just don’t recall such MSM scrutiny for other Presidents. Perhaps I just wasn’t paying attention.

However, I still feel that the MSM would be hands off where certain aspects of Willard’s salary/income and donations were concerned.

    Update on Virginia shooting.

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. — Officials say two women have been shot at a community college section of a Virginia mall and a suspect is in custody.

Christianburg city spokeswoman Becky Wilburn says emergency officials received a 911 call around 2 p.m. Friday about someone with a gun at the New River Community College satellite location in the mall outside of Blacksburg. The caller reported hearing shots fired.

She says two adult women had gunshot wounds. She says one was airlifted to the hospital and the other was taken by ambulance. Their conditions and identities are unknown.

She says authorities do not believe there’s any continuing threat to the community.

Montgomery County Schools were briefly locked down as a precaution.

Officials did not provide any other information about the suspected shooter.

Good afternoon folks. I gotta say that biggest advantage to my new job, is that I”m too busy to check my twitter or the blogs until I get home, so I have the benefit of missing the latest “freak-out” of the day. Today’s bullshhhh freak-out…James Carville and his Clintonista BS about Obama liking to insult liberals.

    I glad I missed that.

TGIF guys. My weekend plan: go to theatre to see 42, and try to get to NOLA to take part in the annual French Quarter Festival
