been at work all day and got home in time to hear what happened with the background check bill for gun control. At this point, I’m just too pissed to comment, and so I’ll just not say anything solid on it, except to say that all the sycophants who like to traffic in the “Obama doesn’t use the bully pulpit enough” can BITE ME at this point. That’s all I have the energy to say right now. Ugh.

What do I have to do to see it on my iPad? It’s frustrating. Hopefully the TV will show it. But I can always count on Chips.

    Meant to post this here:

What is the site that shows how each Senator voted? Someone provided it after the vote to avoid the filibuster.

I’m close to crying about the outcome of the gun vote (on top of all the other recent horrific events). It’s so senseless, so wrong by any measure. I can just imagine how those families feel who lost their young children and family members to gun violence. They were so counting on their unthinkable grief and resultant passion to at least result in some change to the insane gun laws in this country, that those deaths were not in vain. It is unimaginable. I can’t figure out how those senators who voted no can sleep or look at themselves in the mirror—–they have to be dead inside. They are the ugliest of Americans.

Oh, this is really powerful … the President, VP, Gabby Giffords, family of Newtown victims … wow!!

Good God, I knew it. Gabby Giffords and the Newton families are there with the President. I hope this make news. President Obama looks ten years older. I’m crying.

But this is not the end. The cowards will pay a political price. It will take some more time, but they will pay.

WTH is wrong with your congress?…..THEY NEED TO VOTED OUT BECAUSE WHO ARE THEY REPRESENTING? they’re in the wrong jobs.

    • April 17, 2013 at 6:01 pm

It’s unconscionable the lack of compassion that the people in this Congress have.

The President was right to call them out. Hopefully, the passion of the 90% will remain through the next election and those Senators will be reminded that they did not do the will of the people when they are voted out.

No words….I am in absolute tears!!!

Between the Media and this Congress I don’t know which one I feel more shamed of.

I need to take a break!

I absolutely understand how you feel Donna! Go ahead and take a break Donna if you need it to refuel! For me, I am more ashamed of the media because they’ve made this all about President Obama and could care less about the victims of horrific violence from guns. For the media, this is all a political game about who is up and who is down. Why aren’t the media reporting that a MINORITY of Senators FILIBUSTERED a very weak bill requiring background checks to prevent dangerous people from acquiring guns easily.

So it was Rand Paul that called the families who have persevered through their unimaginable grief to work to change the gun laws “props”. That may be one of the most revolting thing ever said by a politician. I am glad President Obama called him out, made mincemeat of his character.

      April 17, 2013 at 6:05 pm

And it comes from one of the most revolting individuals to ever sit in the Senate and that’s saying something. Aside from a brain, there is something seriously missing in Rand Paul’s makeup. He seems to operate without a functioning heart.

My heart is breaking. Hard to keep the faith, to believe that “yes, we can,” but I have to remind myself of recent history; to think of all of the things that have happened here and abroad in my life time that we thought could never happen. Maybe today’s set back can set the stage for better things to come. Hope springs eternally.

I’m so proud of our president. He’s telling us he assumes the American people are decent and mean it when they say they are serious about acting on gun violence, but at this point I think he wants some proof from us that this is so. I think we should all write to Whitehouse.gov and tell the president that we won’t forget and that we will do everything within our power to ensure that the “no”s no longer disgrace the Senate in 2014. He has put his heart and soul into getting some kind of common sense solution to gun violence and I think we owe him a statement of support. I, for one, will not forget and I will make sure I tell that to the president on the contact page on the White House website.

Hopefruit2, thanks for pushing back hard! As I said in response to Donna dem 4 Obama, I am ashamed of the U.S. media! How can Knoller call this a defeat when a majority of Senators voted for the Bill? These media people are despicable!

Powerful feelings and statement from our President. He called the Congress “shameful” for this vote……THEY ARE! As LL said, we have to remember that a majority of Senators voted FOR it, it’s the rules that are nuts. However, so ashamed of Begich, Heitkamp and other Demos. Of course my two Senators voted against it, but I have become used to being ashamed of them!
So glad that woman said “Shame on you” My husband said the problem is that psychologically, many of them are incapable of shame.
It never stops…..now we are under a tornado watch…..interesting night ahead.
I keep thinking of T.S. Eliot’s first line of The Wasteland: “April is the cruelest month…..” This year it certainly has been.

Powerful, powerful speech by President Obama. I hope a good part of it makes the news. Unfortunately the investigation on the Boston bombings is sucking all the oxygen in the media. It’s very understandable, but it is still unfortunate that such a big shameful event in the Senate today won’t get all the attention it deserves.

If ever there was one person who has caused misery and hatred to reign down upon the US – it would be the dumb ignorant excuse for a person to whom that tweet was directed. She screams blue murder when someone makes a joke that just may reflect badly upon her children – but other people’s children – just let them be shot – again and again. Her tweets so reflect the horror that she brings – Gabby Giffords is a reminder – every day – every night.

I can’t stop crying for this country. I can’t stop crying for the shame I feel. If those 4 Dem Senators had voted Yes it would have passed….3 of them are up in 2014….they have to go…they just have to go…if they are owned by NRA and Rep. party, they have to go….PBO is angry, he is devastated, and he is ashamed too..but…he won’t stop fighting and neither will I….I want them gone..they sicken me….blood in on their hands with the next gun tragedy.

The gun lobbyists are counting on the short memories of the American people. They are counting on groups like the Newtown Promise to fade. The anger and disappointment experienced today should extend our memories through 2014.

My tears are flowing, but my heart will be with our president all the way. And what can I say about our dear VP? I felt his pain as POB was speaking.

These evil people who control the steps of these coward Senators will should rot in hell. I mean that.

Yes, POB was powerful and I know he has every right to be. However, these awful senators do not know who they are messing with. We The People. We still have the power, and I plan to help each of you use that power to continue to help POB and VPBiden and and the 90% of Americans to win this one for those precious children, adults who have had their lives snuffed out of them.

This is the shame today. Let us stand with Gabby, and Hidya’s parents, and each one of those family members whose child is gone and other family members because of what happened in Sandy Hook and Chicago, CO., VA., LA., NY., all over our nation.

I do not know about anyone else, but I know we have the will, the core, and the power to vote those cowards who have no decent core. This is troubling what happened today.

But remember why we are here: POB and VP Biden and each family needs us to stand with them. We do not have the funds that the NRA has, but they thought we did have the resources to re-elect POB also; but WE DID.

My heart is so hurt, but my mind is stable. Let us get to work. Re-group and move with focus and goodness in
    our hearts and action. HZ
