Poor Bobby Jindal, no matter what he does the Republicans will never consider him, one of them. We can only hope that this piece of legislation dies quickly.

DF, I wish some benevolent people in Chile would pay to have this child taken to another country. Her mother is a piece of work, but surely she would allow this to save her child’s life. This has anything to do with the sanctity of life; this is pure and utter sadism on the part of the government and the church. They could care less about the life of the child and the baby as long as they show the world that they are “in control.”

Already, two new links for me. πŸ˜‰ This is the place for news. Thanks Chips for the site that attacks such knowledgeable people from around the world and who are willing to share that knowledge.

I see that President Bush is going to give a speech next week imploring the Republicans to do something about immigration. Interesting that President Bush would be seen helping President Obama with an issue that ranks up there with Health Care and DOMA. This is a historcial piece of legislation that President Obama always seems to deliver. And President Obama being the person he is does not have a bit of consternation about giving credit to President Bush.

    • July 7, 2013 at 1:13 pm

That’s right Don. It’s not lost on me either, that some of these former Presidents rush in to “help” after PBO has done all the heavy lifting and the legislation is close to being put into law or already passed.

        July 7, 2013 at 1:22 pm

Bush was always for comprehensive immigration reform but he couldn’t get it through when he was President. Methinks his version is to protect the exploiting employers but it is an issue he tried to get addressed when he was President.

And I will never say anything remotely as charitable about George W. Bush ever again.

      • July 7, 2013 at 1:54 pm

Are they really helping PBO? I guarantee you that when immigration legislation passes, they will say it did so because of Bush. So are they helping the President or seeking a way to acquire some Republican creds?

          July 7, 2013 at 2:41 pm

I’ll bet that PBO asked him for the support. It gives political cover to the Rs that are inclined to vote yes. In the end what is important to our President and to all of us is that we get this done.

“That game alone felt like it lasted about 77 years.” πŸ™‚

(it’s 77 years since the last brit, fred perry, won wimbledon in 1936)

    another typical brit comment

Amid all the garlanding of Andy Murray, spare a thought for Ronnie Wood – the Rolling Stones’s new guitarist is the only person present on Centre Court to have also witnessed Fred Perry’s last victory at Wimbledon in 1936…

(wood was born in 1947 and has been with RS since 1975) πŸ™‚

One thing you always remind us of, Chips … that no matter how unappealing the news of the world may seem, when we wake up and find that Barack Obama is still President of the United States, we got enough in our hearts to greet the day and meet the challenges! #FORWARD

Chips, I have a question. I want to share the info UT provided in the health care link to people in WY, but do you want them anywhere near this site? Our local paper is giving out wrong info.

My first chance to offer my deepest sympathy to VCprez…

What a shocking phone call to wake up to. So much grief for VC and her family.

VC, thank you for being a ray of sunshine here (I even chortle at your computer problems [because I can relate, technically challenged myself] and your exchanges with amk).

Wishing you and your family the greatest strength during this awful time ((((VC)))).

News reaching me that Ivan Lendl is being treated by St John Ambulance after his face ceased up from smiling too much – it was clocked at 38 seconds in total and the effort of changing back to his usual frown was apparently too much for him. Wish him well.

The local all-news radio station @knx1070 is reporting that the two 16-year-old girls who died on Asiana 214 were on their way to the Valley Christian Church for a summer camp (not sure if its the one in Concord that Google responds with).

From yesterday; I think Yardarm is right; something malfuctioned on the plane, causing its landing to be too low as it approached the runway.

For those who missed the July 4 #color-gate controversy on TOD, here’s a catch-up course:
    First, Chips tweeted this:

TODville joined in with their opinions on the color, with UTA insisting that PBO’s shirt color was salmon (agree with her). Bobfr located a matching shirt at Nordstroms sold as CLAY for the color choice.

Here’s a comparison of the color choices (left-to-right: 1) Layla’s offering 2) Nordstrom’s shirt 3) Another pic of POTUS. The last is a color swatch offered by @zizii2

All in good fun, of course, in the spirit of Independence Day.

Sick, absolutely sick, UT. You have to be mentally unbalanced and insecure to the point of pathology to push 2000 year old social mores on a public street in 2013. Is this sign supposed to say anything to the world but how small, ignorant and immature the man holding it is. Just looking at him you can see why he would have trouble relating to a grown up modern woman.

Hiya GGail! Honestly, when you look at that banner, how is it any different to the views of the Taliban, other than it refers to a different religious source? Seriously screwed up people.
