Q It is that time of the year again, presidential vacations. And that means the other party is saying the incumbent party is taking too much time off. The Republicans are saying President Obama spends too much, is too extravagant on his vacations, that he is spending too much time while other problems are going on. What do you say to that kind of criticism?

MR. CARNEY: I would just check what they said six years ago.

As UT would say, Jay Carney for the freaking WIN.

Have I mentioned recently how much I hate upChuck? (joke)

He is so damn lazy, he’s funneling Drudge talking points tonight.

In the 1990s, seems like most movies had a generic Black President (I’m the arthouse movie type, don’t remember which movies). Back then we had no idea of what the reality of having the MOST AMAZING PRESIDENT IN OUR LIFETIMES also being GQ hot without White Privilege expectations would be. The MSM has made their intentions clear by hiring/promoting ONLY the most conspiculously conservative “journalists.” (NYT hires jmart from Politico, TIME hires Zeke Miller from Politico, ABC hires Jeff Zeleny from NYT, CNN hires Jake Tapper from ABC, and I’m sure Jon Karl and upChuck got raises along the way).

Three frigging more years of unprecedented MSM bashing of a sitting President. At least we can enjoy the GOP civil war, but for now I’ve had it with the MSM.

The media is so desperate to give Snowden a “one-up” against PBO – that they will twist, distort, lie, create all kinds of ridiculous suppositions (e.g., Ezra Klein) to reassure themselves and their Republican sponsors that it wasn’t all for naught.

This is what you are seeing here – just more of their desperation. And I read that ABC and NBC both headlined their evening news with floods in the Mid-West, not the presser as one would expect. It shows that they (UpChuck Todd and Jon Karl) were not particularly happy with the way the presser went. And given how the President skillfully and knowledgeably smacked the both of them and put them in their places, I can see why they don’t feel so good and would try to comfort themselves with this nonsense about Snowden having a “victory.”

      August 9, 2013 at 7:01 pm

If you call “victory” hanging out in fugitive limbo beholden to Vlad Putin.

They’re desperate to hand any defeat to President Obama one way or the other. They haven’t learned that that kind of motivator doesn’t work out very well.

      • August 9, 2013 at 7:27 pm

PBO said that where he did not have a comfort level with NSA…he added safeguards and made changes and that he was confident that there were no NSA abuses..he wanted was for the American people to feel as confident as he is.he stated that in all the info that was leaked there was no evidence that abuse had taken place……that because the leaked info aroused alarm and concern he wanted to allay those fears by opening the conversation with Congress and others…

President Obama is living in the White House and going on vacation to one of the beautiful places. Snowden traded Hawaii (another beautiful place) for living in an airport waiting lounge and going for an extended vacation to Russia.

We’ll miss President Obama, as usual, while he’s on vacation.

But good riddance to the traitor Snowden, and I don’t care where he goes or where he stays.

            August 9, 2013 at 8:57 pm

I don’t like that he attacks his country at a time when the President is doing more for the good of the US and its relationships with other countries than has happened since Pres Kennedy, Despite the best efforts of the US media – that Snowden has to depend on Russia for his daily bread is a true reflection of the bias and stupid of the media.

Victory for Snowden, or victory for Americans? I believe that many Americans are concerned about what NSA is doing. But concern over NSA’s practices doesn’t mean that we blame President Obama for what NSA is doing. Plus we understand that the Patriot Act was enacted under Bush Jr.’s administration with support by both parties.

We welcome NSA reform without turning Snowden into a hero and without demonizing our President.

      I’m about to be sick.

What is *wrong* with our journalists now?

That Julia Ioffe (I think that’s her name, not gonna search for her) was idiotic on @Lawrence earlier this week. Challenging @Lawrence that he didn’t know what he was talking about (Putin’s iron grip) because he hadn’t lived in Moscow for years as *she* did.

And she compared Putin to PBO.

She is an idiot who works for a non-reporting effete, elite mag (The New Republic), which I now hope goes under (even though it is run by Obama-supporter Chris Hughes).

When I watched her, I saw a lot of what is wrong with U.S. journalism.

    • August 9, 2013 at 7:38 pm

“Said there’s only one president Putey likes and that’s W!”

Guess she forgot the part about Bush growing to truly hate the guy. Or the fact Putin was running circles around W, I don’t see how the former head of the KGB liking a person is some kind of positive.

Time to come up for air. 🙂

I recently spent $6,500 on a young registered Black Angus bull. I put him out with the herd, but he just ate grass and wouldn’t even look at a cow.
I was beginning to think I had paid more for that bull than he was worth.
Anyhow, I had the vet come have a look at him. He said the bull was very healthy, but possibly just a little young, so he gave me some pills to feed him once per day.
The bull started to service the cows within two days, all my cows! He even broke through the fence and bred with all of my neighbor’s cows! He’s a machine!

I don’t know what was in the pills the vet gave him… but they kind of taste like peppermint. 😮

Once the NSA issue goes to congress where the GOP is actually required to vote and take a stand – watch the MSM’s interest in the whole NSA project evaporate into thin air.

The only reason the media is so interested in the NSA issue is to use it as a weapon to damage PBO, to destroy domestic and foreign trust in him, etc. But as PBO said, he was concerned about NSA LONG before Snowden leaked material – and long before the media’s newfangled interest. And as for Americans being concerned – much of that concern is based on sketchy and downright false information coming from the Libertarian media – and this was part of what PBO tried to address today.

When PBO said that Snowden triggered a “rapid and passionate” response – he wasn’t giving a Snowden compliment at all. You want an informed and deliberate process – which arrives at the same place, with far less risk to people’s lives and sensitive information. The MSM really thought they were going to score something big with this GOP-sponsored NSA project of theirs. But it backfired – because they made some faulty and uninformed assessments of 1) what PBO himself had done in the past on this , 2) how profoundly other countries actually respect and trust this President, 3) how much the American people trust and respect this President, 4) the actual workings of the NSA itself.

This was just another one of their anti-PBO “scandals” in a long list of crap they were trying because they were mad that PBO got re-elected.

I agree. This whole thing is based on nothing but hatred for the POTUS. Honestly, it’s like the people who have nothing to hate (emoprogs, libertarians, baggies) had to create something to hate about the government. Take away this fake issue, and they have nothing…. except that they just hate Pres. Obama.

President Obama Slays Edward Snowden’s “Whistleblower” Myth

But read around the web. All you see are headlines about how Snowden “forced the president’s hands,” and how President Obama was forced to do this and that. Not a single reputable news organization has reported on the president’s unprecedented record of defending true whilstleblowers. Not a single reputable news organization wants to talk about how the leaks have hurt both national security and civil liberties. Stuck in their own bubble, it is as if our media doesn’t want to tell you the truth.

I like it. It’s practical and positive. His summary: “These changes – and more – are coming at us. But there’s no reason to be anxious. Things are getting better. We’re all getting more realistic about the costs of healthcare and who pays them. The result will make medicine more efficient, effective and accessible to all.”

    the current reaction to the NSA revelations reminds (in the reverse way) of a the knee-jerk reaction & echo-chamber that occurred following 911;

will public figures be deleting tweets & videos or denying editorials if (God Forbid) a national security event occurs which clearly would have been prevented by meta-data analysis (i.e. connecting the dots)?

This is ridiculous. First scandalabra, now this. The media must be held accountable (preferably by thoroughly gutting the political corps and giving them assignments where they have to work instead of adding to the echo-chamber).
