Congrats, mtmarilyn, on #1! Joe Biden is my #1 choice if he decides to run for president in 2016. I am determined to do whatever it takes to see that he is the nominee of the Democratic party. I think he has been an exemplary Vice President. Contrary to what any one else says, he is also, without a doubt, the most qualified person to be President of the United States. I think he would be very passionate and dedicated to finishing President Obama’s agenda of creating a sustainable economy that grows and expands the Middle Class. Most importantly, I know of no one who has been committed to advancing Human Rights as Joe Biden has. The unethical mainstream media pundits may not like VP Joe Biden. But it’s up to us to decide on who should be the nominee of the Democratic party and not the media pundits who seem obsessed with one person.

The whole Biden family understands compassion. They feel from the heart like our wonderful First Family. We are blessed with the best First and Second Families! Love them all!

      • August 15, 2013 at 9:07 pm

Compassion and empathy are what set the Bidens and President Obama apart from other progressive politicians.

You can see the President’s compassion and empathy when he holds the tiniest of infants. I don’t know how still photos capture the gentleness and caring when POTUS cradles the infants, but it comes through, loud and clear.

And those who who gone through what Joe Biden and his sons went through (with the horrific violent loss of their wife/mother) are truly capable of knowing what being in that situation is like.

Compassion and empathy means you want fairness for everyone, which is the most important thing to both POTUS and VPOTUS.

Other politicians? Not so much. They live by quid pro quo and believe that politics is a zero sum game.

Taking quiet comfort in the normality of it all is the mom in question—a stunning blonde, petite at five feet four inches and barefoot in 7 for All Mankind jeans and barely there makeup. “I have super-supercurly hair, and it’s a constant struggle,” Davis acknowledges. “Pull out that picture of me from Patti’s son’s bar mitzvah.” The photo from 2010 comes out; in it her hair is in an alarming frizz. “That was bad,” she says with a breezy laugh. “That was so bad.”

Just a week prior, the scene besieging the two-term senator was altogether less serene. On the final day of a special session of the Eighty-third Legislature, an omnibus antiabortion bill known as SB 5, which proposed new restrictions on family-planning clinics, was up for a vote in the Senate—and Davis arrived at the Capitol building in Austin prepared for a long fight. Wearing pink Mizuno running shoes and a sky-blue Escada day coat concealing a back brace, the 50-year-old runner and cyclist held the floor for a twelve-hour filibuster that packed the rotunda with pro-choice defenders and had the nation biting its collective nails as coverage streamed online and the clock ticked down to midnight.

This would be fantastic. Solve all problems! I can’t get behind any other candidates until they tell us what their plans are, what they hope to accomplish for the people, and how they’ll continue to carry the torch of President Obama – since he’s moved mountains with little help from anywhere. It’s easy to talk – quite something else to actually get stuff done (especially to get it done quietly). President Obama and VP Biden have worked hard to improve American lives, even though they’ve received little credit or thanks. It’ll be hard to find more dedicated people.

Senior agency officials concede that much of the technology needed to filter malicious software, known as malware, by searching incoming messages for signs of programs designed to steal data, or attack banks or energy firms, is strikingly similar to the technology the N.S.A. already uses for surveillance.

This summer, the N.S.A. has begun assembling scores of new cyber “offense” and “defense” teams, the agency’s most concrete step toward preparing the Pentagon and intelligence agencies for a new era of computer conflict. Erecting a national cyberdefense is a key element of that plan. At an interagency meeting that discussed the flood of cyberattacks directed daily at American networks, from Chinese efforts to steal corporate secrets to Iranian efforts to cripple financial institutions, General Alexander said, “I can’t defend the country until I’m into all the networks,” according to other officials who were present.

Some of the material Snowden downloaded in April 2012 while a Dell employee related to NSA collection from fiber-optic cables, including transoceanic cables, of large quantities of internet traffic and other communications, the sources said. Snowden has said he left Dell for a job at Booz Allen Hamilton in Hawaii around March of this year, specifically to gain access to additional top-secret documents that could be leaked to the media.

Forget to say, I’ve also dreamed of a Kennedy style ‘compound’ for family, but my corner needs to be have a wee bit more distance away from the others ’cause they like noise and I don’t. They also like company and I have a greater affinity with my own. What I really need is to be able to hear them having a good time and interacting well and happily, (sort of a background buzz) while *I* have my desired ‘peace and quiet’.

This is an example of how the GOP want to keep America the equivalent of “barefoot and pregnant:”

“We’re a superpower with a Third World energy grid,” former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who was also energy secretary during the Clinton administration, said after the 2003 power outage that left 50 million people in the U.S. Northeast and Canada without electricity…

Anyone notice how Steve Clemens from the Atlantic always has a “but” in his analysis of everything PBO doe?. Of course he says that it was a small step taken by PBO when he finally decided to make a comment on Egypt. I would love to see him earn a seat in the Oval Office and see what he would do.

If it’s a case of “earning”, then Steve Clemens will never earn that seat in the Oval Office. And I’m sure he likes it better this way – he can just criticize from the sidelines, knowing that only 43 people in the history of thte country’s existence have ever actually earned a seat in the Oval Office (and one didn’t even earn it… *cough* GWB *cough*).

    Stupid GWB holdover?? http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/news/article/Facebook-posts-on-Obama-Trayvon-Martin-may-get-4730814.php

John Craft, an attorney in the criminal division, posted comments on a private Facebook page in response to a status update backing Stand Your Ground laws. He made reference to Trayvon Martin, a black 17-year-old killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in a July trial.

Craft wrote: “How are you fixed for Skittles and Arizona watermelon fruitcocktail (and maybe a bottle of Robitussin, too) in your neighborhood? I am fresh out of “purple drank.” So, I may come by for a visit. In a rainstorm. In the middle of the night. In a hoodie. Don’t get upset or anything if you see me looking in your window…kay?”

In another comment, Craft wrote that “low information voters carried the day for the Dalibama in the last election” and posted an image of a graphic that said: “Obama: Why Stupid People Shouldn’t Vote.”

Remember all those deficit hawks who screamed that the federal deficit is spiraling out of control and must be stopped with spending cuts that have a funny way of hurting the pocketbooks of the most vulnerable Americans? Their excuse for ripping us off has been literally disappearing, but a new Google survey shows that not only do the vast majority Americans not know it — half of the public actually believes that the deficit is growing.

But deficit hawks are paid well to misinform the public. They write reports. They get corporate honchos to help them run campaigns with innocent-sounding names like “Fix the Debt.” They build websites. They write articles. They hold conferences. They pay off think tanks – even progressive ones – to play ball with them. And the corporate dominated major media frequently are happy to play along. On it goes, until the lies repeated to the public take on the ring of truth.

So it’s no surprise that the public is not aware of the important news that the deficit is shrinking. Or that it is shrinking precisely for the reason progressive economists have been saying all along. When you have a recession, you have to juice the economy through government investment. That, in turn, reaps you the benefit of more money in people’s pockets, which leads to more jobs, more tax revenue for the government, and less reliance on social safety net programs like unemployment insurance or food stamps. If the original stimulus package had been bigger, the deficit would have shrunk even faster.

Can we add to these reasons why the public that is misinformed…the pathetic media??

    • 106 desertflower
      August 15, 2013 at 10:57 pm

From this article. Absolute GOP truth in a nutshell.

One might hope that the reality emerging will help squelch the calls to recklessly cut government investment in the economy. But there’s a big problem: Deficit lies benefit the 1 percent in the short-run. Rather than shrinking the deficit, what the short-sighted, greedy rich in America really want to shrink is their tax liabilities, which is why they don’t want to pay for things like education, infrastructure, and social safety net programs that benefit the population and ultimately help keep the economy humming. The financiers among them would also dearly like to privatize things like Social Security so that they can collect fees on American retirement accounts. The corporate honchos like the way austerity drives up unemployment and drives down wages because they hold the mistaken view that keeping workers stressed and vulnerable is good for their bottom line.
