Nena you had posted a link to a story about 10K folks lined up for Obamacare info. Would you be so kind as to bring it over to this thread so that more TODers can read (and tweet) if necessary? Thanks in advance!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

A statewide education and outreach event focusing on the new Affordable Care Act drew more than 10,000 people to the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday. …

“Be Covered Texas is proud to be partnering with organizations that share our mission of expanding access to health care in Dallas,” said Michelle Riddell, chair of the Be Covered Texas campaign and vice president of community investment for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. …

“This Care Fair creates an opportunity for uninsured Dallas families to access community resources and information that can help them understand their options during the open enrollment period,” Riddell said. …

Organizers said if you weren’t able to attend the event, much of the same information is available online at BeCoveredTexas.org.
β€œThere’s safety in having an insurance card in your pocket,” said Dr. Dan McCoy of Blue Cross Blue Shield. http://www.wfaa.com/news/health/Thousands-line-up-in-Dallas-for-health-insurance-info-229408491.html

This story needs to be spread far and wide. So whenever any media pundiot like David Gregory tries to tweet any nonsense about Obamacare, I’ll simply reply them with this lovely link.

  3. October 27, 2013 at 12:41 pm

Yes, he goes to church, but more importantly, he lives out his values in how he carries himself – as a President, as a father and husband, and as a human! How many politicians use religion for their own ambitions, yet don’t live out the values of that religion?

Right here with you a4alice. It all comes together within our beautiful TOD family. A son, a young child, a young man, a grandson, a husband, a father, lawyer, a community organizer, a professor, a senator, the 44th President of these United States. Yet, he always find the time to be inclusive with his thoughts to lift up all sons, daughters, grandchildren, husbands, fathers, lawyers, community organizers professors, senators and yes, even presidents to be the best that they all can and sing with a beautiful voice through his writings and beautiful daughters; they all can be of these he sing about in the wonderful book. In my library as well for my great-nieces.HZ

you may have seen in the past couple of days how some insurers are being forced to drop thousands of individual policies because they’re not ACA-compliant. My current policy is among those, so I’ve looked for a new policy with my insurer (Anthem). And, thanks to the ACA, I can finally get a more traditional policy because the insurer has to offer ACA-compliant plans and can’t exclude for preexisting conditions. As a result, I’m switching to a Silver level plan with a $2,000 deductible, free preventive care, reasonable co-pays ($30-$45) for doctors’ visits pre-deductible and reasonable co-insurance (25%) post-deductible, all for a premium that’s only $20 than what I was paying. Significantly better coverage, in other words, for about $240 more per year. The media, however, are depicting the end of those policies as a bad thing, apparently because insureds may have to pay more now. But they don’t mention that these insureds will be getting much better coverage. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison.

More than 10,000 people line up in Dallas for information on Obamacare
    October 27, 2013
    By Anomaly
In Texas, a statewide education and outreach event focusing on the new Affordable Care Act drew more than 10,000 people to the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday, which was hosted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and more than 30 community partners to provide health services and information. This is but a small glimpse into the world of the uninsured, or those with costly insurance coverage looking for reasonable rates.

Dr. Dan McCoy of Blue Cross and Blue Shield said, β€œThere’s safety in having an insurance card in your pocket.”

GA Chips, TOD! Wonderful photos of our beautiful first family, congrats on first, AMK πŸ™‚

An addendum to something I posted yesterday…..

This is genius(and hilarious)….. what happens when people come to the US for studies, and return home with an appreciation for all that America offers…. Especially the appreciation of political freedom/ free speech.

One American enjoys a unique view of life in Iran – from the sidelines of Tehran’s main soccer stadium typically packed with more than 100,000 screaming fans.Dan Gaspar, 58, is the assistant coach of the Iranian national soccer team.

“My experience is not one I’ve seen on TV or read in a newspaper. I live here, it’s real life,” said Gaspar. “It may sound strange to most people, but I’ve worked on four continents and Iran is one of the safest places I’ve worked in,” he said. “When I read and hear and see things through the media and then go out to the balcony of my apartment and look into Tehran that is not what I see.”

I was wondering WHY, yesterday, someone on my TL mentioned being ready to go jail if she came into contact with someone dressed as Mr. Trayvon Martin for Halloween.

    Now I understand WHY;

I just clicked onto tweet from @JeffSmithMO which had the comment ” meet the worst person in the world”.

for those interested, you can search for your self – too heartbreaking for me to bring here!

    simply disgusting!!!

wonder why people find it so easy to hurt others in such a savage manner

This is why Democrats find themselves stuck with huge problems in states like NC and Wisconsin. They fall for the idiot republican governors then are surprised when they act like republicans when elected.

    Shaquille O’Neal Endorses Chris Christie

“The NBA superstar is endorsing New Jersey’s Republican governorβ€”and so are many other African Americans.”

wonder how many poor and middle income African Americans will take this endorsement as their guide – rich people sticking together & others jumping on the media bandwagon (hoping to have a front seat in 2016).

wonder where all this nonsense will be 3 years from now

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Chips and my TOD family. So lovely to see our beautiful First Family going to worship service. I may sound a little crazy to some, but as I went in this morning to open up the blinds in my music/library where I see a photo of my precious mother, our wonderful President, Barack H. Obama and my precious brother; I stopped and repeat my ‘goodness words of lifting up” our president, my loving brother (who has a very dangerous and high profile career) and I say,”Good Morning, Mr. President, good morning __________, (my brother’s title) and I repeat”This is a glorious day that Almighty has granted us, so let us all be glad and grateful in our spaces.” Then I stand or sit quietly and ask Almighty to give President Obama, grace, mercy, protection, and wisdom and a prayer added. I repeat the same for my brother with a little personal prayer added. I conclude into that space with this as I open the second window: ” This day is a grace gift from Almighty, and I am bless to be in it, and I hope with all of my being that I will be a blessing and loving person to someone else who enters my space. Thanks for this space today, and please give me strength to enjoy it, appreciate it, and give room for others to find a peaceful space as well is my prayer for this day. Amen.

The crazy part: As I was leaving the room, my spirit gently came to a point of repeating this: The President and First Family are going to church this morning.” This is truth. And here I come to our TOD family, and here they are. Chips, this place is a true space of beautiful spirits and souls of loving deeds, and family support and love for our president and family. (((((((((((((((((( Thank you so much, my beautiful angel))))))))))))))) and UT, and all of the brilliant contributors here on TOD. You all are such a joy to me. HZ

It is looking like Perfection is expected from pres Obama, but excuses afforded to Pundits, TBGOPers, etc.

From all I can read so far…..healthcare.gov glitches are the ONLY topic? Seriously? The problems are being resolved as we speak. Just like the 1st Debate? BP oil spill? Even DADT when it was not repealed?

The severe mental disturbing overreaction is just Not Healthy. It is Not proportional. It is indeed a condition. Oh yeah. There is a name for it. ODS.

Got it. My frustrated rant is over in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Thank You TOD for allowing to blow some smokes.
