Of course I’m gonna miss it, cuz I’ve got a meeting at 1:30. But it’s so great knowing I can come to TOD and catch up on the great work of our President and his administration. Thanks so much Chips!

Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday and extended time off. Now it’s back to work!

President Obama acknowledges all walks of life. God bless him!

Chips, I saw the recent pic of Danny with the rubber chicken – Danny’s body is growing, but he still has that puppy face – he’s soooo cute!

What makes his change so bad, is that he has known PBO for a long, long time. If he is upset with PBO about something, he should talk to him or keep his mouth shut. He has disappointed me.

“If he is upset with PBO about something, he should talk to him or keep his mouth shut.”

Exactly, COS! That’s how grown up family members act! Grown up family members never “wash their dirty clothes in public,” I consider Gibbs a member of the Obama political family. Like you, I am disappointed in Gibbs. My disappointment is not about his anger with the glitchy healthcare website. My disappointment has to do with his public criticism of the Administration and by acting like emoprogs telling the President what to do. Of all the people, Gibbs, a former Press Secretary, should know how our unethical U.S. media would exploit his comments to further attack President Obama and undermine the ACA.

    • December 2, 2013 at 1:48 pm

what happened to Gibbs is that he is now a corporate mouth piece those that don’t want Govt to work, those that has been against this president from the get go. Gibbs a disappointment for all of us just amazing how few money distorts one’s view.

      December 2, 2013 at 1:58 pm

GF, I have to disagree with you on this one. Gibbs is using the same media airwaves that is trying to set the narrative about ACA in a negative light to point out that PBO was done a disservice by someone/s who failed him. Since he left, Gibbs have shouted down PBO haters and he’s defended him as President and as a person, even when not necessarily on policy. He rightly is calling out those who didn’t have PBO’s back in this. Imo, he should be calling out by name (unless it’s Sebelius) anyone who left PBO in such a precarious position on the roll-out. Imo, he is rightfully saying that to have left PBO hanging is unforgivable and they should be sent to the guillotine. They could have given him a heads-up, instead of having him out there wasting time being President of Technology.

Heads should roll and Gibbs is letting us all know that not everyone in PBO’s camp is handling their business. He’s been in that position of protecting PBO’s image and know how to fend off the naysayers. Gibbs sounds furious and frustrated that someone/s is failing PBO at the job that he worked so hard to maintain. It’s like raising a child the right way, then seeing them take the wrong path. You still love them, but you wish could wring their neck, knowing they should know better, cause you taught them everything they needed to know.

I say, Go Get ’em Gibbs

I can understand what role he is trying to play but what I don’t understand is how someone who was once the WH spokesperson can’t see that no matter what his intent is that the media and the republicans are going to spin it negatively. Robert should and does know better IMO. He doesn’t need to go on cable to tell the media that someone messed up. All that does is add fuel to the fire. I just can’t see how him airing our dirty laundry all over MSNBC is helping this cause. The media is not looking for any honest brokers on this topic. They just want to be able to say the former WH Spokesperson feels heads should roll. Meanwhile the WH hasn’t fired a single person. That makes it look like he’s dictated what should be done on this issue to the WH and I’m not feeling it.

I could be wrong and just overreacting and this wouldn’t be the first time ๐Ÿ™‚

I get your point, cookemom. But his framing is terrible. First of all, none of this is as bad as the RWNJ’s and MSM are making it out to be and Gibbs is buying into their hysteria. It’s not coming across as a defense of PBO. It’s coming across as if the sky is falling concerning ACA.

We need advocates for the administration that are calming the hysteria, not feeding into it. Gibbs is not helping, IMO. Rather he should spend his time criticizing the GOP who made a seamless rollout impossible: no money for advertising, for mailings to each and every American, not enough money for enough navigators. It’s the GOP who is sabotaging ACA’s success at every turn, with every evil Republican governor and legislature who constitute the real death panels. THAT’s what Gibbs should be focusing on.

Hey, I think the administration, and particularly ACA, relies too much on the internet for its messaging and its services. I’ve thought that for a long time. But if I had the mic that Gibbs has, I would emphasize that it was Republicans who took away the basic messaging tools that were required for a more successful rollout: lay the blame ON THEM and NOT on PBO.

    • December 2, 2013 at 2:44 pm

RE Gibbs: If you have never undertaken a complex IT integration project with multiple stakeholders, multiple legacy and homegrown systems, outside vendors, several verification protocols and top notch security, then I really don’t think you have the right to criticize this project so harshly. This was probably one of the most complex implementations of new policy EVER in our govt.’s history. There were MANY, MANY, MANY comprehensive and single issues to solve and difficult decisions to be made along the way. Could it have gone better? WHO KNOWS? This has never been done!! And you have to analyze it within the CONTEXT of the U.S. government bureaucracy, not Amazon or any other private enterprise.

We all have to pull together to make this work. I do not appreciate left wing sniping while we are taking hit after hit after hit in the MSM. Simply calling for someone’s resignation is a symbolic political gesture and doesn’t even begin to address the synergies that had to take place to make this whole thing happen. Roll-outs are notoriously vulnerable to problems and this is no different.

I agree with Donna, save the righteous chafing for private.

      • December 2, 2013 at 2:48 pm

And BTW, from my own experience, I think the whole process has achieved great things and is now a very promising success.

Here, here, Meta! As another person who does this for a living, I heartily concur with your post! Gibbs’ comments don’t help anyone in this situation – they just provide fodder in making a very complex endeavor even more misunderstood, because his comments imply that this is a simple matter of someone not doing their job properly.

Why doesn’t Gibbs use his airtime to point out how the Republicans cut funding and spread misinformation for the roll-out of the ACA?

      • December 2, 2013 at 2:55 pm

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brought Pope Francis a copy of a book about the Spanish Inquisition when the two of them met on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

The book was written by the prime minister’s late father, Ben-Zion Netanyahu. Netanyahu also gave the pope a silver menorah.

According to a description on Amazon, the elder Netanyahu’s book argued the Inquisition “gave birth to an anti-Semitism based on race that would have terrible consequences for centuries to come.”

Netanyahu inscribed the front page of the copy he gave to the pope, “To his Holiness Pope Franciscus, a great shepherd of our common heritage.”

        Story here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/netanyahu-gives-pope-francis-book-about-spanish-inquisition

Now, I’m all for challenging past wrongs. But you don’t give a head of state a book which says his organization is responsible, basically, for ushering in the Holocaust.

Bibi acts as if there’s nothing else in the world except the ravings of his fevered brain. Everything — and everyone – else is worthless to him.

How does this maniac stay in power? Next to the US, is Israel the most dysfunctional developed country in the world?

Oh wait – they have universal health care. So they’re ahead of us.

I expect a two-bit dictator from a two-bit country to not have a clue about protocol and diplomacy much less common decency, but Bibi is a total embarassment. Kind of like imagining Chris Christie on theinternational stage.

Okay, now I have to go wash my brain with soap. God.

I haven’t seen Andrea Mitchell’s show in years and wow, I caught a glimpse of her after Pres. Obama spoke and WTF?!?! Is this what passes for news on MSNBC? The woman is bloody unbelievable!

President Obama pledged to match $5B to the Global Fund for AIDS treatment and got Britain to do likewise and what did Mitchell say? She said that AIDS advocates had been pressuring Pres. Obama to contribute to the Global Fund and he didn’t do so. He didn’t announce anything. The man just announced it, a minute ago and she reported differently.

My jaw dropped. No wonder some people are clueless as to what’s going on in the country.
