Amk, it’s interesting to see the knives come out. This kind of article would not have been published if Christie was going strong. He’s on shaky ground and the pile on is starting. That’s a good sign.

G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, everyone and Happy Sunday!!! I won’t be posting much for the rest of today because I’ll be traveling (getting to my destination this evening). But I might be tweeting stuff since I can easily access the Twitter on my smartphone. WordPress can be rather cumbersome esp when it comes to signing in, etc.

    Cheers! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚ This reminded me of the conversation I had with my son today…he’s flying and has a layover. I asked if he was going to check his bag or carry it on. He said he was going to carry it on because he had his power strip in there and you’re a good guy if you have a power strip in an airport:) Who THINKS like that ??

Gm Chips et al. Busy day today meeting with one of the million candidates for PA governor at a local coffee house. This is one of the many, many dark horses who won’t win, but it’s a chance to bring up topics that matter to me and force answers. I have no problem with people running, but in this case, I think we would be in a stronger position if one or two of the best candidates could build real momentum. We don’t need all this infighting. Unfortunately, there are still Congressional seats going begging. Have a great day.

A senior American official has said the United States is “very open” to building a new relationship with Cuba.

However, Edward Alex Lee of the US state department stressed that any improvement should go hand-in-hand with more political freedom on the communist-run island.

He said the two countries had held “very constructive” talks on migration and other issues this week.

But he declined to give any details of what he called “substantial progress”.

Mr Lee, who has been on an official visit to Cuba, added the two nations would seek to continue these rare negotiations.

Good Sunday morning, Chips, Danny O, the mighty BTs and TODville!

Booker can’t be bothered to answer direct questions on twitter about his stand on Iran sanctions but plenty of time for this kind of stuff.

    • January 12, 2014 at 8:53 am

Mooooooorning Meta! I’m beginning to have as much respect for Cory Booker as I have for Chris Flippin’ Christie. He’s insufferable.

Not looking so good – what a shame – the expectations were so very different

      • January 12, 2014 at 9:01 am

He’s worked very, very hard on a good guy superman image and he comes off initially as some sort of promising candidate but in truth he’s peddling some of the same outmoded thinking and policies that protect the rich and the long-standing lobbies. Very unappealing, to say the least. UGH.

Check his twitter – it’s full of pictures of himself “doing things”
        visiting a fishery
        running in Cape May
        meeting cadets
        taking a tour
        supporting small business

Guy thinks he is governor or President or something. Learning about what is happening in the senate – supporting the President and the democrats would be a good idea.

He revealed his nature way back in 2012 when he stood up for 1%’ers. Has risen to his level of incompetence.

      • January 12, 2014 at 9:26 am

Exactly. He stood up for Bain Capital precisely when PBO was going in on tying Romney tightly to its foul practices. UGH.

          Good morning meta,
In my opinion, I have always felt that Booker was in this for himself. I have felt that he was never really in President Obama’s corner but he wanted to ride the President’s coattail to victory. I’ve never been impress with the guy; never felt that he was genuine but wanted to be like the President. I don’t see sincerity in him. Times when he could have spoken up, and defended President Obama against the repukes bashing and lies, he joined them in a round about way, but never took a clear stand on what was wrong with what was being said about the President. I am not impressed with him, and “me” thinks he wants to be President Booker. Just my humble opinion of the guy.

Gates is on CBS Sunday Morning, the first of a week filled with appearances, praising W and criticizing PBO, saying PBO did not have the same “passion” for war, and that’s supposed to be bad? The people cheered. Now he’s promoting Hillary, saying she’s “tough minded” (hawk) (sided with him and against the president) and said she would make a great president. So it appears to be an infomercial for Hillary.
Asking him about the unseemliness of criticizing President Obama while he’s in office and while there is still a war going on in Afghanistan. He said he didn’t want to wait to weigh in on Obama’s lack of commitment to the war, said that would not make sense (serving the MIC). Interviewer asked him about one of his quotes, when he said that there is a time for everyone in power to know when it is time to “shut up” and didn’t he violate his own advice.
He tried to wiggle out of that one. Gates deserves to lose any respect anyone once had for him.

I only saw a few minutes of it….but to me…Gates became to emotionally affected for the job…..

He said he could not talk to the troops without chocking up.

    • January 12, 2014 at 9:37 am

He’s turned out to be just another RW war-mongering punk.

Cash in and make money while there’s money to be made criticizing President Obama. I wonder how P bO feels when he sees people he trusts (Gibbs, Axelrod, now Gates) turn on him….😞

Today’s gun insanity. 16 yr. old shot and killed last night at a party in Chgo, after a fight over a girlfriend. Good reason!
Everyone’s got a gun and increasingly petty arguments are being settled by shooting perceived antagonist, often with deadly consequences.

If Gates is accurately representing what HRC thinks…..and that’s IF……I’m certainly not supporting her. His recommendation will wreck her with the grassroots Democratic workers I think. He is doing her no favors with us, just the right neocons. Her sell-by date has passed.

complaints/criticism from beltway-insiders just highlight that PBO has been doing the best he can to push against the war-profiteers & war-mongers.

long after PBO is has moved on to other things, we will know exactly how many tried to undermine him or wrongly thought they could push him to do their bidding.

most have forgotten that throughout his 2008 campaign, PBO said something like ” I may be skinny but I am tough”

Her Birthday is next week, she’ll be 50, sure would like to somehow drop this on her doorstep. My way of cutting through the negative and presenting her with her flowers now… flowers she so deserves. Maybe by Friday we’ll have enough views to show her just how much we love and adore her…First Lady Michelle…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiSptfjOkrw

So Bob Gates is dancing and prancing this morning as he goes around hawing his memoirs, bless him. Its good work if you can get it. He bashes President Obama and praises both Bush and Hillary, ladies and gentlemen that’s all you need to know about the man. Consider President Obama’s first term and the almost four years remaining on his second term as our best and possibly last chance at getting this country back on track.

    I remember how much we begged, encouraged and tried to shame NJ Dems into considering their position on christie’s re-election;

mainly we argued against his radical right-wing policies and also against his bullying of teachers, public servants and other ordinary people who did not agree with his position.

    the media was cheer-leading for his attitude & re-election;

I can’t stand how this same media that hyped him just months ago is now pretending to just see his true persona
