Crazy me listening to Mika on MJ – but now on the topic ow women at work – I cannot believe people have full time jobs where they do not get sick leave. The basics in my country – for virtually every job – as an employee – is 8 days sick leave per year – and it accumulates. Some jobs give 10 days per year. He was seriously ill a few years ago – had 4 months off & was paid every day

    • January 13, 2014 at 7:44 am

I completely agree with you, 99. It’s shameful. I’ve never quite understood how the country can set a poverty level and then allow people to pay a sum that equals less than that level…in other words, allows wages they have mandated are poverty-driven. Makes no sense to me.

Christie being investigated for misuse of Sandy relief funds. $25 million seems to be in question. Used to produce tourism vids featuring Christie and family promoting the Jersey shore during Christie’s re-election campaign——-and not to devastated communities in need of help for recovery.

Dotster, this should rile people more than the bridge closing. People were and are in desperate need of help and to misappropriate these kinds of funds is monstrous. All of these rumors were around BEFORE the election and NJ Dems were so cowed by the bully (briber) that they swept it all under the rug. On behalf of my New Jersey family and on behalf of all of us, I’m outraged by this. It stinks.

    Good Morning

The media is pretending this did not happen……

    3) Did Christie talk to Andrew Cuomo?

The Wall Street Journal, ahead on the Bridgegate story throughout the scandal, reported in December that Christie reached out to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who co-controls the Port Authority, to ask him to turn down the heat on the internal review of what happened.

It was Cuomo’s appointee, Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye, who called out the Christie appointees about the lane closures in Fort Lee in real time, the subpoenaed documents reveal. And according to the Journal piece at the time, Christie asked Cuomo to have Foye back off, at a point when interest in the scandal was intensifying.

A Cuomo spokesman denied the call took place when the story came out, although the Journal stood by its story. There’s also been no indication that Foye eased his foot off the gas internally. Still, given that the two governors have had a decent working relationship and given their shared control over the agency, it’s within the realm of possibility that they spoke about an issue that was gaining press attention. What Cuomo was aware of has become a point of intrigue in Empire State circles.

      January 13, 2014 at 8:03 am

Foye did ease – after the lanes were open and the complaints and media inquiries were coming in the emails show that Foye accepted the press releases written by Bill Baroni

viz. Email – From Bill Baroni to Steve Coleman and Patrick Foye 13 Sept

We are good with the following
“The PA has conducted a week study at the GWB of traffic safety patterns. We will now revies those results and determine the best traffic patterns at the GWB We will continue to work with our local law enforcement partners”

I can’t instantly find the email – but Foye said he was OK with this. Once the lanes were opened it seemed to me that he let Bill Baroni provide all the answers to the media. He arranged an appointment with a lawyer at some stage – legal ramifications?. He also was keen to let everyone know that he didn’t send his memo to Fort Lee – which apparently was suggested by someone at the Port Authority.

I think everyone at the PA was covering this up.Perhaps because of the political issues Cuomo is staying quiet. One of his appointments – Lisa MacSpadden – a public relations head – quietly left agency Jan 2 (not sure where I found that information) – she was a recipient of many of the emails that have been released.

Report: House Of Representatives Voted 109 Times To Undermine Environmental Efforts In 2013

Environmentally speaking, 2013 was a bad year for the House of Representatives.

That’s the message of a new report from Henry Waxman (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. The report cataloged the 2013 environmental and energy votes of the House in the 113th Congress, and found that in one year, the House voted in favor of anti-environment positions 109 times — a statistic that shows the 113th Congress is following close on the heels of the 112th, which was dubbed by Waxman and Ed Markey (D-MA) as the most anti-environment House of Representatives in history.

The findings of Waxman’s 2013 report on the House include:

That you can be the most corrupt, venal and anti-progress Congress in history and get re-elected. That there are NO consequences to ANY behavior. I’m disgusted to the core by this.

I brought this over….could it be, Mika the sidekick is a taking a clue from Dr. R.Maddow?

    HAPPY MONDAY TOD family!!!

Well, I was doing my channel surfing this morning and caught the Jokester morning show. To my surprise, Mika the side kick was defending President Obama. Of course I thought that it was strange, after she was bashing him and calling him Obama with the jokester last week after the 2 hour speech for lying that Christie gave.

She stated that the repukes are causing distraction by pulling “President Obama” into Christie’s mess. Halpern was there and stated; I take issue with what you are saying, the President has never given a two hour speech like Christie, and answered all of the questions. So the little guy, don’t remember his name but he worked for President Obama, I think that he was the economic counsel. He said that the President did answer questions and that he had a press conference in December and the press corp was tough on him (President Obama). Mika the side kick stepped up and stated; this is not about the IRS, Benghazi and Christie is Governor of New Jersey, this is Christie problem not President Obama’s problem. Halpern, well the President never spoke for 2 hours on the IRS and Benghazi. Mika the side kick shut him down, to my surprise and stated; President Obama has “nothing” to do with New Jersey. Halpern was left looking dumb founded.

I was shock, here’s the catch; the jokester is not there today, it was said after she closed Halpern mouth. She was big, bad and in charge because the jokester wasn’t there. Last week, she agreed with the punk; never calling the President, President Obama. Like the jokester, she only referred to him as Obama. That show is slime to the bone. Today, she told the truth and said what many of us have been saying; this has nothing to do with the President. I am sure she is going to get a tongue lashing from the jokester and Halpern.

Maybe she was scolded for the way she and jokester lied on the President last week. Halpern, as always, tried to be the repukes talking mouth piece but she did the job she was suppose to do, rebuke the lies and speak the truth.

I hope that each of you will have a wonderful and awesome day today.

Don’t forget to smile, it relaxes our wrinkles : ) and someone could feel the warmth.

As New Christie Allegations Emerge, Don’t Forget The Deliberate ‘Civilian Casualties’

But when you screw with hurricane relief funds or create massive traffic jams, you’re not attacking political opponents, you’re attacking the people you’re supposed to be, you know, helping.

This is an all-too-familiar tactic we’ve witnessed from the Republican side of the aisle for some time now. The GOP leadership desperately wants President Obama’s policies and presidency to fail — they’ve admitted as much — so what do they do? They aim for civilian populations. They shut down the government. Or they deal in brinksmanship with the debt limit. Or they try to repeal our healthcare. Or they sabotage job growth and the economic recovery, while focusing on a massive national debt which the Bush administration and Republican Congress almost single-handedly created. Or, in an effort to oust the president at the ballot box, they attempt to disenfranchise a growing minority electorate with Jim Crow style Voter ID laws.

A former engineer for defense contractors was charged with trying to ship military documents to Iran, including materials related to the U.S. Air Force’s F35 Joint Strike Fighter program and jet engines.

Mozaffar Khazaee, 59, was arrested yesterday at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey as he attempted to fly to Tehran, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut said in a statement.

Khazaee, a native of Iran who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1991, formerly lived in Manchester, Connecticut, and recently moved to Indianapolis, prosecutors said. He was arrested after arriving from Indiana and before he was able to board a connecting flight to Frankfurt.

Federal agents began probing Khazaee, also known as Arash Khazaie, in November when U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Homeland Security Department inspected a shipment he had sent to Long Beach, California, from Connecticut, bound for Hamadan, Iran, prosecutors said.

While documents accompanying the shipment indicated it contained household goods, a search revealed boxes of documents, including technical manuals, specification sheets and other materials related to the Joint Strike Fighter program and jet engines, according to court filings.

I’m very pleased with the idea that settlements will no longer be tax deductible and will be transparent. I suppose in many instances it is more practical for the government to settle because corporations would simply engage in legal maneuvers to prolong cases for years and years and then the legal fees are deductible as well. The only thing I find distasteful is the involvement of old wishy-washy Coburn.

Ridic——as we have increasingly noticed, every single news item is now related to President Obama, in whatever convoluted way they can muster. NBC correspondent reporting on the French first lady (long time unmarried partner) being hospitalized after news that her husband was having an affair with an actress, said “Can you imagine if this kind of story happened in the U.S.?”—–letting it hang there. So unnecessary and desperate. They’re getting close to relating even the weather report to Obama, or hinting there’s a connection.

The new round of talks will aim for a broad settlement in the decade-old dispute over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program that could ease the risk of mistrust leading to deeper tensions or even conflict in the Middle East.
