Of course there’s a new post. Just as I finished typing a long detailed story of NY politics. For anyone interested in the War in NYC I refer you to the previous thread.

Ooooops!! Brought it over for you Vicki!

Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill deBlasio are at war.
This first became visible when DeBlasio didn’t choose Cuomo for either of his swearing in ceremonies. The first on Dec. 31 was at The Mayors Brooklyn residence and NY Attorney General Eric Scneiderman did the honors.
The official inauguration featured Hillary in the prime aisle seat and Bill Clinton doing the swearing in.
Cuomo sat near Bloomberg. Neither had roles in the left-wing lovefest.

Cuomo repaid the insult by not mentioning DeBlasios presence at his State of the State address. Cuomo gave shoutouts to everyone but deBlasio.
      Which brings us to today.
Cuomo went directly at deBlasio attempting to co-opt Bills pre-K plan.
The Mayor wants pre-k to be funded by a tax on people earning 500,000. The Governor says No New Taxes.

The Governor is supported by the media and rich folks on both sides of the poitical aisle.
Bill deBlasio has only us, the people.
Stay tuned, as Rachel would say.

Sounds more like a Cuomo-Clinton clash to me, with deBlasio closer to Bill and Hillary, perhaps? Isn’t young Andrew said to be a possible contender (from his viewpoint – not mine) for 2016?

The only good thing about the possibility these two Democrats may be in-fighting is that they both will try to out-do themselves and each other, in helping the people. I’m good. Let er rip.

Responded on the last thread, Vicki. I think deBlasio will come out ahead on this one.

I read it. Thanks for the insight story between de Blasio and Cuomo. I simply hope that Dems would not display such acrimony and give ammunition to the other side.

Thanks Chips. I e-mailed you a clipping from the Daily News who is delighted to see deBlasio “schooled” as they put it.

No Child, I agree with you and wish that in a blue state we could make real progress instead of fighting each other.

The actual division is the Rich against the rest of us. So no state is ever Blue enough.

        • January 21, 2014 at 7:55 pm

What are Cuomo’s ambitions? deBlasio must be a big threat.

Andrew Cuomo, like his father before him, Mario Cuomo Andrew wants to be President. Standing in his way is Hillary.

The rivalry between The Clintons and Cuomos is legendary.
In Primary Colors Mario’s character was Ozio and as hideously as Joe Klein portrayed the Clintons, well, Cuomo did not fare any better. The charade of amity between these two families is just that—a charade.

DeBlasio choosing Clinton to administer the oath of office chose sides very publicly. Bill had to know there would be fallout and retribution.

D.C. is so pretty in the snow, but I don’t miss the throngs of shoppers at Giant cleaning out the milk, bread, and toilet paper at the slightest hint of a snow storm and then failing to stay off the streets once it hit!

Judith you know the drill here. It was outrageous last night in this area. You would have thought that we were going to be snowed in for days. The shelves were cleaned of everything. SMH!!!

It ain’t funny I’m telling ya’ – this weekend I booked a trip to New Orleans in February to get outta here. Chicago is fantastic other than January and February but this year it’s extra bad with insane freezing cold/no sun every damn day.

LOL! I jumped out of bed this morning when I heard the snow plow off in the distance. I knew I had to shovel my driveway before the snow that the plow pushed into the driveway, hardened in the cold temps. I live on a corner lot, very near an elementary school, so I have quite a lot of sidewalk to shovel before the little darlings tread on the snow and pack it down to an icy mess, that won’t thaw until June!

Stay warm, the hawk will be out tonight for real.

    GE, TODville.

I was laid up with the stomach flu yesterday – basically was able to move only to get to the bathroom, and my the only sounds I made were groans.

    Even lurking was too difficult.

But now that today’s over, I’m starting to feel human again.

Wanted to thank all contributors to TOD for the stellar MLK coverage yesterday. So moving and educational. Love to hear the experiences of TODville as it relates to MLK day and “post-racial” America.

I used to watch Morning Joe every now and then (remember, it airs before 6 am on the West Coast) but he’s become intolerable. And Mika is worse. Cannot believe that Mika didn’t bring up MLK holiday even though it was beneath the oafish Joe. Inexcusable. Joe spews so many untruths as fact, he’s no different than the RWNJs that he tries to put space between. To his credit, he never bought into the birther nonsense and has been vocally anti-war for years, but I guess the fact that he and Mika are BFFs with the Trumpster should have tipped me off.

On Thursday, an Orlando man shot and killed a 21-year-old who was fleeing his yard. He didn’t appear to be stealing anything, according to witness accounts. He didn’t appear to be threatening anybody. But Claudius Smith said he feared he was a burglar, followed him over the fence to a neighboring apartment complex, where he shot him after he said he felt threatened, according to a confession documented in an Orlando Police Department report. Smith even said he feared victim Ricardo Sanes was armed “because his pants were falling down” and his hands were in his hoodie pockets, according to a report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.
Now, questions are emerging about whether Smith will also invoke the state’s Stand Your Ground law, which gained notoriety over the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, shot in a Florida residential development while wearing a hoodie. Law enforcement officials don’t seem to believe Stand Your Ground applies.

It’s frightening that these killers now have a convenient excuse to kill and get away with it by claiming to be “fearful”. This has to stop.

Nena the killings does not make any sense. This guy killed had a gun in his crotch area, however he should not have been pursued.

One of the less-talked-about aspects of the ensuing Chris Christie saga is his relationship with the media, and in particular, his relationship with the MSNBC program Morning Joe, which Joe Scarborough has recently addressed. During a lively debate on CNN’s Crossfire about the governor’s scandal season, Democrat Brad Woodhouse took a shot at the program for helping develop Christie’s persona.

Woodhouse noted that Christie’s “trying to intimidate MSNBC” now, with his office firing back at criticism from most of the network. Former Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli said Christie should set whatever 2016 ambitions he has aside for now, “reassess” in a year orso, and then decide whether he could still mount a successful bid for the presidency.

Dems need to start speaking publicly against JoeScar and his 3 hr M-F show on MSNBC.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — Two young sons were killed in the past three weeks, leaving behind an utterly devastated mother. Her boys were both shot and killed on the streets of Oakland.

“I have no more kids, like wow… No more kids,” said Dinyal New, the mother of the two teenagers.

Good evening, TOD. Hope everyone is safe and sound. Ended up having to go out in the madness this afternoon — slipping and sliding as I picked up my tax bills from the printer. I’m now in until Thursday when I have a med appt.
