Stay warm, all you TODers up north. We are an absolutely frigid 55 degrees down here on the gulf coast, though we are expecting cooler temps on Friday. Heads up: I retweet a lot of TOD tweets and was just “chastised” by a RWNJ,complete with the black BENGHAAAAAZI!!! Ribbon in his avatar. He asked if I had an original thoughts or if I just “obsessively retweet liberal propaganda” He may begin to harass TODers on twitter or start trolling the blog since I seem to have annoyed him…

Indian voters are not predictable, unlike unohoo.

bjp is a rightwingers party and has its own teaparty roots and branches.

One thing fersure. corrupt cong is out. Question is how fractured the voting across many parties (oh, we have thousands of them) is going to be and what sorta horse trading will go on postpoll.

Thanks for getting back to me a couple of days ago re: weather patterns in Seattle. January does seem early for daffodils (my fav flower, BTW).

If the jet stream has abandoned the lower 48 states, maybe it will send the pollution to Canada. Just a joke. I don’t wish vile pollution on anyone, especially gorgeous British Columbia and Alaska.

Reagan expanded government more than any modern-day President.  His was the largest non-military workforce in three decades.  The only president who had a workforce that surpassed Reagan’s was President Johnson’s, during the Vietnam War.

Reagan began office with a total of 4,982,000 employees and ended his term with 5,292,000 employees.

President Obama took office with a federal employee roster of 4,430,000 employees.  At the end of 2010 President Obama’s federal workforce numbered  4,443,000; that’s 849,000 fewer employees than Reagan, the advocate of small government!  Add to this the fact that President Reagan governed during peacetime, while President Obama inherited two wars.  President Obama’s figures also include over 200,000 (temporary) census workers.

FYI: Twitter’s still not working for me to sign-in. Just ran across this very cool report by The Center for Public Integrity

When President Barack Obama’s campaign machine restructured itself as a politically active nonprofit in 2013, one goal was to keep attracting the legions of small-dollar donors who had twice helped catapult Obama into the White House.

Now the numbers are in for 2013, and they show that Organizing for Action, as the pro-Obama nonprofit is known, has been wildly successful….

The American people never cease to amaze me. This jerk should never have been elected to office, given his background, let alone be held in high regard. Within mere months of being elected he called for legislation that disrespected women, minorities, immigrants and the LGBT community. Still he received high praise. I don’t get it.

Good morning to all you lovely people. As usual, I’m on night duty with the wood stoves and this is when I miss Dudette the most. So glad she’s recovering. We’ve got -20 (feels like -38 according to the NWS) here in CNY 13027. The icicles look like the bars of a jail cell………gives a whole new meaning to the words ‘house bound’.

Although I only post sporadically, I lurk 24/7 and would be absolutely lost without this treasure chest of sanity.

My one wish would be that The OBAMA Diary would continue to follow OUR President after he leaves office and persist in the commentary/coverage on our political scene that has made this site one of the few that cuts through the crap with research, links and global input.

Ms. Chips, I will be forever grateful.

i’m also a mostly-lurky fan of this fabulous place. and just today i was thinking how the work of barack obama and michelle obama will not be limited by their leaving the white house at the end of his second term in the presidency. in fact, the presidency is just one phase of their work, which began long before and will continue long after they complete this project. i also hope the obama diary will continue to chronicle their lives and accomplishments, and provide a haven for the many, many like-minded supporters of these giants of our time.

Thanks for the response, Susanne, and agree with your comment. This is just stage 1 for our President and the future can be very bright. I lost hope after JFK, MLK, and RFK., but President Obama has been worth the wait and I believe his global impact is just beginning.

Ride a wave for me, Susanne, Aloha!

Good evening to you, 99ts. You’re 15 hours ahead of us if I’m not mistaken, so it’s still 102 at 9PM? Yipes! Your wildfires and drought have been no joke either.

My partner just came through the room with a cup of coffee and proudly proclaimed: “It’s minus 22!” Also YIPES!

Hopefully, THE Dudette will be back soon to regale us once again. (She also keeps my mind off the thermometer.)

Love and peace to you and yours. And don’t forget to give that grandbabe an extra hug from all of us.

It’s down to -24 the last I checked. I think I’ll stop checking.

And don’t forget that extra hug for the babe.

Victory for Federer sees him reach the Australian Open semi-finals for a record 11th consecutive year, stretching back to 2004. The next best run was six successive appearances by Ivan Lendl between 1985 and 1991.
