Ha, there you are! Thought I had knocked you clear into tomorrow with my entrance….but it was only for 4 minutes. Oh well, ‘Mooooooorning’ to you, One and Only ChipsC!
Willard Mitt slow jamming the news has wrecked one of my fave Obama fun moments. I like Jimmy Fallon, but he sure isn’t fussy about who he allows to slow jam with him. Willard is everywhere lately. Go away Willard—-your 15 minutes ended a while back.
Dotster, I wonder if he thinks the GOP will turn to him in 2016 if all the others are in jail? Maybe Miss Ann just can’t give up the thought of wearing that inaugural dress.
I just shared with Chipsticks that one of the shows spoke about Mitt coming back to the GOP because of Christie cream problems. Apparently, the GOP is considering it because they don’t have a viable candidate……so get ready; Romney part II : (
Good morning all. We’re enjoying a heat wave of 19 degrees today and if it weren’t for the snow and freezing wind, you might almost convince yourself that Spring will actually come some day. Got to laugh at all of last night’s twitter humor this morning, so that’s a good way to start the day. I love our FLOTUS’ sense of humor and fun. Can’t remember any other First Lady who was so comfortable in her own skin, she could make jokes and put herself in laughable situations. Most of them seemed terrified of doing something spontaneous in front of a camera. It’s one of the thousand and one reasons I love our “belle Michelle”so much.
Chips, I am so delighted that two of your regulars have appeared: Dudette, sending you healing prayers for a full recovery (get back to TOD soon, ya hear) and Nath, welcome back and hope you had a wonderful vacation.
Nothing beats Heuston Station in Dublin, though. Well, okay, maybe ‘nothing’ is a bit strong. The only good Britain did in Ireland, left a few nice buildings behind.
On this day in 1966 Constance Baker Motley was appointed the first black female judge in the US. Ms Baker’s parents were from Nevis. Hey we gave you Ms Motley and Alexander Hamilton, Cicely Tyson and a host of others, time to pay up, we are only 36sq miles so the bill wont be that big, so start saving for pay day.
Have a wonderful Saturday to all ‘specially Dudette and GOBrooklyn
California drought: Scientists puzzled by persistence of blocking ‘ridge’
Many states have seen an easing of drought conditions, but not California, mired in its worst in more than a century. The culprit, a high pressure ridge parked offshore that is blocking winter storms.
While much of the United States has experienced a weather year with fewer extremes and an easing drought, the record-breaking California drought – the worst since 1895 – is not leaving the region anytime soon, according to climatologists.
The unseasonal balmy but dry weather is the result of an equally unprecedented high pressure ridge lurking offshore and blocking the typical winter storms needed to drop precipitation all along the West Coast.
This ridge has persisted for 13 months and the longer it lingers, the less likely it is to leave, points out climatologist Brian Fuchs, from the National Drought Mitigation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. This high pressure ridge system is feeding on itself, “creating a sort of perfect environment for perpetuating the dry conditions” it creates, he says.
Chgo Trib reporting that PBO is expected to announce that his pal, Chgo bsns. man Marty Nesbitt, will head the Obama library site selection committee. In Chgo all kinds of different interests, personal and economic, are unattractively sniping at each other about the process and selection. And they’re all mad at Mayor Rahm who said there will be one Chgo site proposal submitted, not a half dozen. One strong, unified proposal from Chicago makes sense to me, agree with Rahm. Hawaii of course is also a strong contender and now Columbia U. has jumped into the mix. I just want it to be somewhere attractive where everyone from around the country—and the world—will want to visit.
Face in palms – at least this upfront knowledge saves me from putting together a bid that would fail. TY. I’ll start saving my airfare – one penny at a time.
Upon reflection, PBO has been such a genuine international president that I’d vote for two main libraries in Hawaii and Chicago WITH BRANCHES around the world (in places he has visited). I’d further suggest that certain genuine memoirs of the 8 year presidency then be toured to the branches, maybe on a schedule. For example, he has had so many sports gifts, that I’m sure main library curators wouldn’t mind sending some of them around the world – less to dust. [Then he could add another ‘first’ to his history – first US president whose contributions and impact on the world stage merited/led to an international library. What do you all think?
I just finished telling my brother the other day that after PBO finishes his term in office I intend to continue donating to him only it will be for his library. I also said after it is built I intend to visit it. I just went to Chicago at Xmas and would prefer a trip to Hawaii. They may need to be sure it is wheelchair accessible by then.
My candidate donations may end after him unless there is another Dem candidate with the intelligence, honesty, humility, humanity, listening and decision making skills based on solid fact finding, conviction, and caring about the average American that matches PBO. I did also donate to Elizabeth Warren, and Tammy ? Rep from IL so there may be possibilities in the future. I will continue to vote at each election for Dems, but it might just be a better than the other guy vote (that’s how I feel about Hillary). Most of her followers seem as bullying as a lot of the GOP candidates. The Primary against PBO showed me her true colors. Yah, she campaigned for him and did a good job as SOS, but I am convinced that was for herself to win us back as future supporters. I do not think she has real convictions but instead supports whatever is the best political outcome for herself.

Despite the tough talk and bluster from its governor, New Jersey lost over 36,000 jobs in December, the largest drop in over two decades. Even more devastating for the assumed presidential contender, is that only 7,000 private sector jobs were created in 2013. This is the latest knock for the governor, who has seen his status as a frontrunner for the 2016 Republican primary dissipate as a result of the George Washington Bridge scandal. The numbers also provide a stark contrast to the governor’s rhetoric, as last week he said in his state of the union address that, “We have endured the worst economic recession of our lifetimes, and we have begun to triumph over it.” Maybe people just didn’t like the commute.
Morning to you, africa! Oh, who knows. I think they all thought they were getting some “Jersey tough guy” when in reality he’s just a joke and a farce. Hopefully they got it out of their systems and are ready to get back to work. Unfortunately for them, they now have to live with the stupid vote they made…unless, of course, arrogant bloviating CC ends up in the slammer making licence plates.
I read this article and laughed, because when I sounded the alarm on that smacking bully, I received the most nasty, threatening pushback I ever received. The man’s policies are disastrous. I knew something was wrong when he received all that money for Sandy and the unemployment rate didn’t budge. I don’t know what’s wrong with folks that they’re so slow on the uptake, but I suppose it’s better late than never.
Good Morning TODer’s. VC congrats on the Gold. Nice Early Chat Chips, love all the pictures. Temps dropping since I got up. It’s now +3 gust of 42mph gives us a wind chill of -20. Anyone care to come and enjoy this winter wonderland they call Minnesota Up North that is. 🙂
So Mitt was on Jimmy Fallon slow jamming to the news, what is going on with him? He sure have been popping up every where lately. I know he has some kind of documentary coming out. But I don’t plan to watch it and I would not watch him on Jimmy Fallon show.
Thinking about all these Republicans putting themselves out as potential presidents, and the media picking someone now as a potential president, shows me they have no one, but also that they are way too early for this. Each one that pushes himself, or gets pushed, falls for some reason. Timing is SO important, as they should have learned from PBO. Too early, and you wipe yourself out. There is too much time in the public glare in which you can misstep miserably, and one giant misstep can do you in. These people should be tending to their jobs, building their credibility, learning what needs to be done, as two certain people we know well did.
With all the talk about HRC, I’ve noticed she’s said nothing. No doubt she remembers what happened in 2008, when she was the presumptive heir, and pretty well tried to coast. The year for serious exploration and beginning of the process is 2015……until then, it’s all shadow boxing.
And remember, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!!!
i say main library in chicago, and some sort of center and/or monument in hawaii. if the library was in hawaii, very few kids and schools could ever visit it, but in chicago huge groups of midwestern school kids would be visiting ever year and learning the truth about president obama. this is important to combat the inevitable attempting to re-write history be “the news” and republicans in a negative light.
also important to honor where he was born and grew up, so some presence there is also important.
Want to really make Republican heads explode…let President Obama be the first President with two libraries. Hell, let him have three. Put one in Kenya too. 🙂

Yes, Chicago for the archives, etc. Many more people will be able to visit it in Chicago, easily and inexpensively. I think what has to be ironed out for Chicago is the location.

GooOOood Day! Can you believe it’s Saturday? It is, isn’t it? 😘
Hi CC! Long time no see! Happy Saturday!
Mooooooorning VC, moooooorning everyone!
Ha, there you are! Thought I had knocked you clear into tomorrow with my entrance….but it was only for 4 minutes. Oh well, ‘Mooooooorning’ to you, One and Only ChipsC!
Good Morning Chipsticks and Danny Boy…
HAPPY AWESOME SATURDAY TO YOU BOTH!!!
Now go out and have a SPLENDID Day…I command it : )
Good morning vcprezofan2,
HAPPY SATURDAY TO YOU!
Congrats on 1st…
Have a AWESOME DAY!!!!!
Hello, Cindy! Responding with happy wishes sent your way too.
Hellooooo, everyone! I’m hanging around today – too cold to venture outside (or to do any chores, IMO). 😀

Seriously Dotster? He slow-jammed the news? SERIOUSLY?! Noooooooooooooooooo! What the hell, is he running again in 2016? 🙄
Chipsticks,
In one of the shows yesterday, someone actually mentioned that the GOP might have to go to Romney for 2016 because of the Christie cream problems : (
Morning Cindy!! That would be just hilarious – next thing we’ll hear Dan Quayle is running!
Hey….
Don’t be surprise….desperation breeds strange bed partners, and the GOP is looking quite desperate.
Cindy,
Agree. They have a bench of damaged goods and will try to prop-up any old piece of shit. Exactly Chips, hilarious!
This is just gross. Fallon is scraping here.
Why is Mitt suddenly everywhere? Is he hawking a book or maybe that film that is so unflattering to him? UGH!
Good morning meta,
HAPPY SATURDAY to you!!!
I just shared with Chipsticks that one of the shows spoke about Mitt coming back to the GOP because of Christie cream problems. Apparently, the GOP is considering it because they don’t have a viable candidate……so get ready; Romney part II : (
Morning, Cindy. I guess anything is possible but he’s hardly the standard bearer for anything except Bain!
I wondered the same thing after the Netflix Mitt documentary.
Good morning dotster3 and jackiegrumbacher…..

No, ireland is not europe.
True, Ireland is its very own continent. A lickle one, but a continent all the same.

Can’t help VC, I’m afraid, I’m working on the Moneygall campaign.
O.kay – guess that means we’ll be competitors.
.
.
Shoot! Just remembered. Don’t think I can compete with that house painted with US flag colours
Ah ha, the perfect spot for the library!! 😆
😆 😆 😆 Enough to make you bleary-eyed before you enter!
And next door is a bit bright too!!
Hmmmm. The only way we here could beat that bid is to denigrate the size of the two buildings. Is there any land behind them for expansion?
Lots of space VC, this is the back garden:
Face in palms – at least this upfront knowledge saves me from putting together a bid that would fail. TY. I’ll start saving my airfare – one penny at a time.

vc: I want a private road from my home to Obama Presidential Library
genie: Nope, can’t do, too much hard work.
vc: Ok, how about you make chips not cheat?
genie: sighs…ok, how many lanes you want in that frickin’ road?
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
😆 😆 Just one, one way, genie sir/ma’am!
Aren’t prez libs located in their birthplaces?
I vote Hawaii.
Or in the first country they visited after their inauguration? I bet that’s in the fine print somewhere.
😆
That would work too. I can donate 20 acres.
I vote Chicago, where he cut his political teeth.
Naw, Chicago has enough of him – and they got the real live him. We others need the library so we can ‘research’ ad infinitum.
When Susanne from Hawaii wakes up FayPax, you’re in serious trouble!
I ain’t scurd. 🙂
I can see our next TOD battle shaping up, to rival the football(soccer) rivalry!
😆 I’m going to hide when Susanne arrives, just in case – I’m scurd of fireworks!
/smh/ Typical. Throw the match/lighter, or set the firewood in place, then take off and watch the fire (works) from a distance.
University of Chicago! ’nuff said…….:-)

Mitt and McCain will never get over losing to president Obama. Hmmm.
