Dana Milbank threw a tantrum in a WaPo opinion piece, claiming that PBO is a lame duck and hardly anyone watched the SOTU (because only 33.3 TV viewers were recorded by Nielsen), and therefore, there should be one-term limits for Presidents.

I gave that idiot some serious shade on Twitter. He deserves to be mocked and ridiculed.

One term limit would mean that the pres would be a “lame duck” midway through his only term! As Milbank figures it. So, nothing would ever get done.
Rachel had a great piece on his minimum wage plans, and taking it to the people, and how this totally puts the pressure on Congress, but gets good stuff done otherwise.
Interesting…..the Port Authority in New York is raising the minimum wage, so workers at LaGuardia and JFK get a raise. Christie wouldn’t let the Port Authority in New Jersey raise it, so workers at Newark airport don’t get a raise! Another wonderful decision by the big boy.

Milbank is obviously feeling highly threatened by PBO’s decision to take executive action with or without congress’ support. That’s what his article was all about.

Guess Milbank also thinks people still get their news from Newspapers. Shame there are no numbers for cspan and whitehouse.gov
or folks like me who watched online

Wonder how many in Australia ever watched a SOTU before President Obama – I sure didn’t.

Dana Milbank is a jackass, and I guess he just want some attention. He see that a quick way to get attention is to attack President Obama. Everytime he is on tv he is trying to tell some kind of joke, I guess he wants to be a comedian.

Oh my….we went to the Proms in 2005 at Royal Albert Hall. What a night! Included were the Royal Irish Guards band, and the Queen’s own bagpiper and then the bagpiper chorus, great orchestral numbers, vocal numbers……then at the end everyone sang the three English anthems and waved Union Jacks as balloons came down from the ceiling. To hear the entire auditorium of people…..I don’t know how many it holds, but it is HUGE and gorgeous…..sing “Jerusalem” (That’s the one with the line about the chariot of fire), then “Rule Britannia” and finally “God Save the Queen” is a never to be forgotten, spine tingling experience.
Also, a school choir which had won a nationwide competition sang. The parents were bursting their buttons to see their children sing at Royal Albert Hall. It would be like watching your child sing at the Kennedy Center or Carnegie Hall.
So, thanks LL for bringing back wonderful, exciting memories. If you’re ever in London, and the Proms is on, GO!!!! It’s a total experience.

Jmpo, President Obama knew he had to serve two terms or he’d be jacked off by history and buried like President Carter.

Again, jmpo, he’s trying to change the /dynamic. And It’s working.

GOOD government, peaceful government, supportive government. It’s a new world, new communication, and time to seize the day.

Thank you, LL!!! Bolero has been a treasured musical experience since my childhood. Combining it with dance has resulted in numerous sublime performances. The BBC Proms 2013 performance I had not seen before and thank you for sharing it. Undoubtedly, my wife and I will watch it many times.

Before departing, hope all of you enjoy this performance of Bolero and just how young many of the musicians are, including the concertmaster 🙂

Thanks, Bobfr. I particularly liked this version because there were so many ‘youngster’ in it. We don’t see enough of talented young people as we see of those who get themselves in trouble constantly (not that the two things need be mutually exclusive).

For many reasons, just had to post this before departing …

It’s likely, after that Bud Super Bowel commercial, even more millions of folk will be aware of these musicians.

Wishing all TODers a very fine 31 Jan 2014 ….

That’s a good one. Can’t believe there are/were people who actually believed that. I talked to some of them when I was making calls pre-election. NRA was bombarding them with scare propaganda.

I just watched the President in Wisconsin … great !

We need more professors like him who can explain Keynesian Economics in simple terms:

“More money in everybody’s pocket means the economy is growing – for everybody, even businesses !”

That’s what I was listening to this morning. He was saying that if workers wanted a living wage, service industries would replace them with machines. He was countering a guy who mentioned there was a dark side to automation-all of the jobs that were lost as a consequence of that.

Looks like we must send out a new batch of subpoenas, this time over fresh and powerful evidence that the governor personally misused Hurricane Sandy funds to win an endorsement from a Democrat.

This sounds like Hoboken in reverse. While Mayor Dawn Zimmer accuses the administration of withholding Sandy aid for political reasons in her city, the evidence in Belleville indicates that the governor provided extra aid for a mayor who was willing to dance.

And here, the governor was directly involved.
