I stopped following him quite a while back, but apparently these charges were for both before and after Katrina. Think he originally ran for mayor on a “clean up corruption” platform.
I detest Christie even more now. I can hardly look at him. I have to mute my tv when Rachel or anyone are showing his comments. Kudos to MSNBC for sticking with this story.
And yet he continues to fundraise for the GOP as chair of the RGA. Even if some of the candidates hide from public view so they don’t have to be seen with him, they’ll still take the money.
Uh oh. This is not good news for our beloved New Jersey governor:
A former Christie administration official lobbied NJ Transit to build a train station that would benefit a $1 billion office and residential complex being proposed for the Hoboken waterfront — the same complex the city’s mayor claimed she was pressured to fast-track or risk losing Sandy aid.
Records show that the lobbyist argued for the station within months of an agreement signed with NJ Transit to move forward on the rail project. That lobbying occurred in the spring of 2013 — the same time period that Mayor Dawn Zimmer said she was pressured by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.
The lobbyist, Lori Grifa, works for Wolff & Samson, the law firm founded by former state Attorney General David Samson.
CNN = Careless “News” Network … Don Lemon reports something like “coming up, President Obama raises the minimum wage” and something like Paula Deen is raising funds to kick start her career again, after “making a racial slur years ago.”
So, I gather the minimum wage for everybody (not just federal contractors) is being raised, and all Paula Deen did was make one racial slur years ago. All the news? I think not.
Sit back, everybody. President Obama’s soothing voice is gonna make the whole world look bright for a little while! And I’m not kidding, in my case. 🙂
Vicki–I think it’s because “they can.” They want the Democrats to know that they, the Senate Republicans, are still big shots and have the power to drag things out. Harry Reid has the power to make them work all night and postpone any breaks, so I hope he does so. If they push him enough, maybe he’ll eliminate the filibuster. We can but hope.
He handed me a framed photo of himself and Obama — taken two years earlier in 2010, when Obama had invited Russell to the White House, given him the Presidential Medal of Freedom and urged the city of Boston to build a statue for him. “Isn’t that something?” he asked me, beaming proudly, looking like me after my daughter crushes one of her soccer games. Only Obama gets Bill Russell to geek out. He loved everything about that day. Once upon a time, Russell had given speeches telling his fellow African Americans to keep their eyes on the prize, to never let anyone define them, or keep them down, or tell them they couldn’t do something. He wanted them to believe that they didn’t have a ceiling, that 40 or 50 years later, one of them could even be president. He made that point in more than one speech. Now it was 2012 … and Bill Russell was holding a photo of him and President Barack Obama. Isn’t that something? Yes. That’s something.
sorry, missed getting the attribution in… from an interview by Grantland sportswriter Bill Simmons. sorry also if it’s not short enough, just had to keep all that goodness in.
I think the more important word was blackmail – when the President announced no more blackmail – it was done.
When he was unchanged by the GOP closing down the government – they really lost – and for the first time the few with a brain that remained in the party realized the GOP was committing suicide. No amount of media b…s… is going to overcome what they were prepared to do to their country. The Dems should be singing this LOUDLY for the next 8 months.
NW, I love this strategy of deBlasio’s part. He is making the reporters ‘work’ because now they have to actually think about serious issues regarding the budget and not easy gotcha gossip questions. And the public gets real formation, rather than nonsense. I’d be willing to bet that more reporters at his press conferences start doing their homework from now on and actually read about the subjects they’re there to ask questions about.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they could pass the unemployment benefits, and a jobs bill. The Senate already passed Immigration, but the Speaker refuse to bring it to a vote in the House.
Our FLOTUS is one cool First Lady, have you guys watched the getschool. com video concerning FAFSA financial assistance for high school kids to go to college .
So the debt ceiling passes, but not without Ted Cruz putting his fellow wingers in a bind. The Dems were content with the just 51 vote, but nooooo, Teddy decides to use the rule that requires the 60 vote. So guess what that did? It forced McConnell, Cronyn, and other ‘Pubs who are fighting to keep their seats, to cast a vote that they knew would not play well at home among their nutcake voters.
Obama, First Lady Dance With French President Francois Holland at State Dinner
As Mary J. Blige got everyone on their feet with the song “One,” the French president and the Obamas hit the dance floor together, ending days of speculation among etiquette experts over how the White House would treat the stag Hollande.
[snip]
Following Tuesday’s dinner for 350 in a tent on the South Lawn, the fun became so relaxed and uninhibited that the guest of honor, French president Francois Hollande, told one guest that he didn’t expect his first state visit to include a trip to the dance floor. “He said ‘I was dancing with Michelle, then Barack. … I thought we came for serious meetings, but I ended up in a fantastic club,'” said the attendee.
Apparently, performer Mary J. Blige got everyone on their feet as she sang her version of U2’s “One” and the French chief executive did, in fact, dance with both the first lady and the president. As another of the guests described it, “It was all gracious, familial and funny.”
I read early that George Stephanopoulos of GMA were running his mouth about the cost of the Obama State Dinner to taxpayers. So his ex boss Bill Clinton had 23 State Dinners and the Obamas had only 6. Maybe someone need to remind George of that. All of a sudden the right wing is concern about what things cost only because there is a black family in the White House. If these right wing haters didn’t open their dam mouth about a trillion dollars being spent on a war we were lied into, then they need to keep it shut now. But they won’t.
Hello.
It’s COS!!!!!!!!
Yes, checking back in after my cup of coffee. 🙂
Hello COS!
Congrats on 1st! wtg
Thx Cindy.
Chips…can you please help? I guess they don’t want Americans to know what they REALLY think! If they all knew…they would run. Fast and Far.

Done! Thanks a million DF!!
Thanks bunches, Chips:) Says so much, doesn’t it?
Former New Orleans Mayor Nagin found guilty of 20 out of 21 counts (conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud, etc.), according to a local news station.
Wow. My niece’s mother-n-law who was a survivor of hurricane Katrina always said that he was a crook. They experienced it.
I stopped following him quite a while back, but apparently these charges were for both before and after Katrina. Think he originally ran for mayor on a “clean up corruption” platform.
Wow, he had been at it for a long time.
Who knew?
i sincerely hope they throw the book at Christie and his merry band of thugs and thieves
I do, as well. With 300M people in our country, and gazillions in NJ, why Christie made it to that office is beyond me.
I detest Christie even more now. I can hardly look at him. I have to mute my tv when Rachel or anyone are showing his comments. Kudos to MSNBC for sticking with this story.

Today’s Republican Party, ladies and gentlemen.
The great Bill Russell is 80 years old. Happy Birthday to Mr. Russell.
CSPAN 1 TV is also carrying PBO live. 🙂
As is CNN TV.
Oh dear… http://crooksandliars.com/2014/02/oh-dear-wolff-samson-was-pushing-hoboken

Now I have to go back to work…
Df, this will be another thing that Christie “had no knowledge of.” This is the Christie version of Romnesia. Christnesia?

Republicans are stalling the cloture vote on the debt limit……
They are trying to run out the clock on voting today.
Let’s run out the clock on them, when election day comes.
I don’t understand. to what end?
I see on C-SPAN that the vote started an hour ago. What can possibly be gained by this delay?
Vicki–I think it’s because “they can.” They want the Democrats to know that they, the Senate Republicans, are still big shots and have the power to drag things out. The President mentions Costco, again! Yes!
Bill Russell, who loves our president as well…
“Here, look at this,” Bill Russell said.
Debt ceiling cloture Yes!! 67-?
Now voting on final passage. 51 votes needed.
Done.
Good for you, Mayor. No time for gossip.
NW, I love this strategy of deBlasio’s part. He is making the reporters ‘work’ because now they have to actually think about serious issues regarding the budget and not easy gotcha gossip questions. Intense ? They all stood around for 1 hour chatting instead of voting.
Holy shit:
Oh, God, I love that touching photo. One of many we’ve seen, involving President Obama.
He could have written that on his hand, like Silly Sarah
yep, and that’s a reeeaally tough race : )
So many to choose from, that’s for sure! 🙂
Wow…wow…wow!
Paging Ezra Klein to tell us what a disaster this is…
For those who missed it.
Check this out: She’s running unopposed!! The GOP couldn’t find anybody to take her on.
Excellent! Kamala Harris has the potential to be POTUS someday.
Yes. And, BTW, she and Beau Biden are close friends. He’d make a good VP!!
Wow…..the Republicans all voted to not pay our bills ?
Now there are 3 votes not to repeal the military pension cuts.
Carper
Coats
Flake
Yeah, RWNJs think this takes them past the 2014 election, and we’ll all be forgetting what they did about the debt ceiling in the past. Not. #WeSeeYou
Thanks JER.
You are welcome anniebella.
Just so you know, FAFSA isn’t just for high school kids. Anyone going back to college / university is eligible for financial aid.
LL, That’s great to hear that. We need to let everyone know that because I didn’t.
Wow, must see this brave newscaster tell the rwnjs what-for :

Whoa,
North Carolina did not get ready for the storm…..
Traffic jams galore…multiple accidents…..people abandoning their cars…..
Linda, sounds like what happened to GA two-weeks ago.
Exactly…and we are getting pummeled again today…but everyone stayed off the roads this time..
Also…I still have power but 250,000 others here in GA don’t….the worst seems to be south of me….
So the storm is as bad as they predicted…… Stay safe.
Veterans get some benefits reinstated by Senate…….remember this?
Standing UP and Clapping,,,,,
Good-o!
For those over 50, Sid Cesare has passed at age 91.
He was a comic genius. All contemporary television comedians stand on his shoulders.
Him and Imogene Coca.
Oh my. Comedic genius.
God I feel old…….
Move over then, I’m sitting beside you though I think I’m in front….. And then there’s Ernie Kovacks, Red Skelton, Soupy Sales, et al. 🙂
